As steady and faultless as Christensen has been I firmly believe that Luiz adds something to this team that no other player in our squad besides Hazard can. I still want to see a Cesar-Luiz-Christensen backline.

As soon as the team plays poorly Courtois plays just as badly; he never plays at a level above the team for a string of games. That, for me, is THE indicator that he is nowhere near De Gea and Neuer. De Gea may make highlight saves and shit but that guy drags his team to wins. I don't care care how he accomplishes that, he just does it. I don't think anyone would give a shit about it either if he was doing that for us.

2-1 W @ Tottenham 0-0 D vs Arsenal 0-1 L vs City 1:0 W vs United 1-1 D @ Liverpool 2 wins, 2 draws, 1 loss, and 8/15 points against the other big-6 teams is okay; it's not great but we will live. The Arsenal game is the one result that hurts the most IMO because that side was beatable, the City game was terrible but sometimes you simply have to pay your respects to your oppenent's performance. City would have been favourites against any team in the world at that time. As @Jason pointed out, the Crystal Palace and Burnley games hurt us the most. You just can't lose your season opener against fucking Burnley (no matter how good they are in the table right now) and to the worst team in the PL this season.

What a depressing transfer target

Cesar - Luiz - Christensen (from left to right) is what I want to see tried at least once this season. Cesar would be a huge help covering for Alonso's lack of pace and defensive ability while Christensen could do his best Cesar-impersonation as the RCB like he did in the last 20 minutes against Burnley. Wouldn't mind trying Luiz as RCB either, however, I'm not sure he wouldn't be too aggressive going forward.

I vehemently disagree with that notion. In my time as a PL fan (past 10-15 years) I have seen only a few players who were able to move with the ball at their feet with such precision and efficiency as Drogba; rarely did a touch of his feel wasted when he was in control of the ball. Having seen you listing someone like Van Nistelrooy among the PL players you claim had a better close control than Drogba though, it'll be for the best if we just agree to disagree

The disrespect for Drogs though. His close control is one of the best ever in Premier League history.

Yeah, that third goal was pathetic. It's also getting clearer and clearer that other GKs have surpassed Courtois at this point. You can count the games Courtois single-handedly won us in the past 3 years on one hand; that's just not good enough for a someone who's supposed to be top-3 in his position. You can blame our defense as long as you want but like strikers, sometimes you just need your GK to win a game on his own.
