Atletico has not overachieved, they are at where they should be. Among the best in Europe, simply they belong in the last 4. This Atletico side is experienced, may not have CL experience but they have made numerous cup runs in the last few years. Dortmund made to the final last season, without numerous attempts in CL. This Atletico side been together for a while, their style is very dangerous in CL football. This is a freaking good team. I am not a believer in Real. Ramos can get sent off in a dime of moment, they will concede goals that they shouldn't. They play the worst "team/unity" football out of the remaining sides. They have had a easy road to the semi final, not really tested. Also Ronaldo could miss the first leg in Madrid, this could get ugly.

I don't see how Atletico is a easier mashup then Real. Football is not played on paper and it is not always about individual talents. If you look at Real on paper they should be on top of La liga first of all, but they come nowhere near close to Atletico in terms of mentality, Alti is a strong side mentally who will play hard and give it all obviously they get that from their manager who i rate so highly. Also Real are great bunch of individual talent but they also don't come close to Alti in terms of unity and cohesive as a team. Real loss at home against Barca perfectly displays why they will not win the league or the CL, they were obviously the better side against Barca but they bottled it with poor individual mistakes. That kinda mentality will not win you the CL with that kinda lack of composure I am pretty certain that the CL winner will come out of this fixture.

I also had a good laugh at Modric being the best CM in the world.
-
Another croatian to consider is Milan Badelj. Really like to see the player on a better team.
-
You are right he needs to create more, but lately he has been doing good and deserves the praise he has been getting. Overall yeah he needs to improve.
-
Yeah his job is to score goals....oh wait he is not doing that. I don't agree with the poster you are replaying to, but he is a creative player that is his greatest strength. As an attacker he is definitely not a runner like Schurrle or Salah, he is at his best when on the ball and create for others. He was fantastic against PSG and Stoke, i hope he continues his progress.

Reus is not really a talented youngster, he is one of the best AM/winger in the world. Imo he is in the same league as Neymar, Bale, and Hazard. I would only bring him in if one of Oscar or Willian had to leave, i anticipate both being here and adding Reus without subtractions is just too much resource at one position. There is also big questions mark over Willian and Oscar tbh. Willian as talented he is, tbh the guy has everything but throughout his career it always been known his play in the final third has let him down despite his immense talent. He should be scoring more goals and providing better final balls. Next season we can fully analyze him. Then there is Oscar, i seriously love the guy especially the player that plays with Brazil. Truly not as effective for Chelsea, i actually thought the Mata sale would be greatly beneficial to Oscar progress. But so far, the same up and down Oscar. I am not ready to give up on either player. But say Dortmund accepts Willian+15-20m(obviously not rumored), or PSG offering 45-50m for Oscar(rumored), i would seriously take either deal. My argument is basically this if you have the opportunity to add a player like Reus and make this team better then you do it. I don't like the fact people dismiss him so easily. I also really like the fact that Reus is already seasoned in the style we are trying to play and offers speed+goals. Just my thought, but obviously CM+ST should be priority.
-
Beside Hazard, he is better then all of our AM's. We can also sell players, put Willian to go the other way. Its not going to happen. But Reus is without a doubt one of the best attacking players in the world, if you have the chance to buy him you do it. No; Willian, Oscar, Hazard, and Reus are way too talented not to be regulars on a regular basis. Schurrle and Salah are perfectly talented utility players.
-
Real Madrid have not been really tested. They are pretty shaky in the back also.
-
Damn this guy is amazing, if we do sign another AM in the near future it better be him.
-
I wouldn't say KDB didn't fit the system, didn't have the attitude and maturity Mou was looking for.
-
Is there any Arsenal player you would take? For me Ramsey and maybe Wilshere. But don't trust any of them to stay healthy, but we have better medical trainers though.
-
Disagree with the first part, i think Matic is the better defensive player. Martinez has much more going for him in term of creativity and passing. Although Matic has a better close control. When Martinez was at Athletic Bibao, BIelsa used him to start their attacks and he was a focal point of that team. Last season at Bayern you would see him burst forward a lot while Schweinsteiger would cover him and vise versa. Yeah he is no Schwinsteiger, when healthy and form he is the most complete midfielder in the world. But Martinez is a complete players, i have seen enough of him over the years to know his versatility. I disagree on the second statement also. Mou likes his players that can be effective in attack and defensively. Both players have both trait, and Mou also likes his players to be technically good and play with speed and quickness. With the way Mou wants to play, Press high and when on the ball push the ball forward and everyone attack, it is essence what Mou would like to do. Martinez and Matic fit perfectly to what Mou wants to do, they both have the passing range and creativity combined to make us dangerous. Also this partnership can basically disrupt any midfield in the world. This is fantasy as i said earlier, there are no rumors of Martinez leaving Bayern. I think he is wasted there as a CB. But i would love to see us snatch him up.
-
Martinez is one of most complete midfielder in the world, he is a Schweni type all round midfielder. It seem like people think Matic=Martinez, Martinez is very good going forward, a better passer and creator. This is not going to happen anyway, there are no rumors of Martinez leaving Bayern or anything like that. But he is a great fit and a Mou type player.
-
Did you watch Bayern last season? Martinez and Schewni was something to watch, Martinez can absolutely play that B2B midfield role and push forward. He is a great passer and he is creative not in Gundogan and Modric mode, but he is far better defensively.
-
Damn I wish we can put in a bid for Javi Martinez, he is being wasted under pep at Bayern. He is clearly not what Pep want in midfield. A midfield of Martinez and matic is so mouth watering.
-
Terry and Cahill have been as good as any CB partnerships in the world, that has more to do with why Luiz is not playing CB much then Mou not rating him.
-
If we get Costa, somehow Torres has to be included. Hell even if it means paying more Costa.
-
The way Matic talk about his Benfica days and under Jesus i have a hard time believing he would have been anywhere near the player he is right now. He had to change position and learn a lot to be the player right now. While a player like Sturridge for example just needed the opportunity, i don't think it mattered in his case. He would probably be banging the same amount goal at Chelsea as he is at Liverpool. Seriously it must be a joy to be a midfielder and play along side Matic, we really need a find a good midfielder in the summer to play alongside him.
-
7 is probably the third most famous number in world football, 17 is associated with bench players. Its going to take a lot to make that number mystical.
-
I believe he would do well with a change of scenario. Maybe he goes to a team in Italy and replicate his regular Nigeria form.
-
Who would you sign to lead the line at Chelsea?
Joker10 replied to Melanicus's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Benzema would be the best signing, it only can happen if Madrid bid for Suarez. -
Good performance. But it is truly amazing how often i have seen him get bailed out by opposing defenders after a bad touch or when he is surrounded by 2-3 defenders.
-
Badelji is actually doing well at Hamburg, but needs more consistency for me to consider him at Chelsea. I have a hunch that Bastian is more likely to leave in the summer then Kroos in Bayern midfield.
-
If PVA played in the EPL this season imo he would arguably be the best left back in the league. No question, he has been tremendous attacking wise and very solid defensively. Too bad that his future is at another club, someone is getting a good LB.
