  1. I don't know if Veira comments on the need for English B sides were ever posted here but his comments were spot on why loan system is a failure.
  2. I am not sure why Mou never tried that. Probably stubbornness or maybe would have done that if he had Bale or another option on the LW. Some people(not pointing at you) act like Carlo reinvented Di maria or something, but i watched Argentina so many times last season where Di Maria flourished as a CM for them. Its not really a major surprise that he flourished as a CM at club level, the consistency he showed this season was for me surprising though. I actually admire that trait of Carlo he is not stubborn as Mou and i feel like Mou let his ego get in the way. When Carlo was here he continued Guus experiment of Ivanovic on the right, playing Drogba+Anelka(RW), and Malouda continuation of form. That is a good management skill to have being able to adapt others idea. Sabella experimented Di Maria in midfield and he was a major success for the NT. If anyone should be credited for Di Maria transformation it should be him. As for Carlo him winning the CL surpass Mou achievement at Madrid, he is a better manager for Madrid. But next season it will be interesting with La Dacima being achieved and being a major obsession with the club. Carlo has his work cut out for him in trying to keep that squad motivated.
  3. Seriously what is your agenda? is it Carlo>Mou? I am not the biggest fan of parking the bus and noted quite a bit on this forum. Parking the bus is much tougher then giving credit for, ask Simeone. I don't know if it was just me but i had the sense that it was only a matter of time before Madrid leveled it. They created a lot of good opportunities. As for our run, Barca and Bayern had nowhere the success of infiltrating our parked bus. If winning the CL came down to just parking the bus then ffs we would see a lot of teams winning that way. As i said earlier i am not big fan of parking the bus, because you never want to play on your back foot+be reactive best way to keep the other team at bay is by being aggressive+proactive. Let me also paint you the picture of how great our run was under RDM because you seem to think "We parked the bus and won." He took over against Napoli down 3-1 aggravates and turned the tide by winning 4-1 at Stamford bridge. just parked the bus you say. In the semi-final we faced a still great Barca side. That Barca side is still much better then last season Barca and this year Barca. Xavi was still playing at a high level and undoubtedly still at his best; past two season he is shadow of the best CM in the world. We went down to 10 men in the worst place possible in Camp Nou and came out on top. Then in the final we were without Ramires, Ivanovic, Terry, and Meireles. Absolutely we beat every odd possible and if it wasn't bad evil Chelsea that side would get so much more respect and appreciation by the media and critics. I honestly don't care for this Mou vs Carlo nonsense, but i find it disgusting for a Chelsea supporter to downplay RDM success and our CL run just to prove some dumb agenda.Coming off as a fair weathered supporter. Your United remark is clutching at straws tbh. In what world can someone consider United CL run close lol. First they did not beat Bayern, second they would still had to play Madrid, and then thirdly they had to play Alti which is a bad matchup for anyone who try to park the bus. They didn't even come close to reaching their biggest hurdle.
  4. He is also a reason why they create those chances. He is not very clinical i agree but he find numerous ways to get into goal scoring opportunities. Same way Sturridge did when he was here, and where Torres wasn't able too. Benzema movements allows him to get into those scoring opportunities. If we also remember Hazard played his best football when Eto'o was on the pitch and his link up ability. Benz link up ability is as good as any striker in the world. So i would say buying a striker that best compliments your best player is another plus. I also have my reservation on Costa as noted somewhere on this thread. Atletico and Costa are match made in heaven, they both need each other it would be in Costa best interest to stay in Madrid.
  5. Benzema is underrated, he is a wonderful multi talented striker who can do everything on the pitch. I would also say having Benzema and Lukaku is much better then Costa and Lukaku. You can pretty much play Lukaku and Benzema on the pitch because Benz can successfully operate as a SS. You also get two completely different strikers. I also believe that Benzema is under utilized because of CR7 presence, it is the same effect Messi has on other forwards.
  6. Nope, his signing of Torres has sent the club back for years. Before anyone say Roman was in control of Torres signing is for some reason forgetting not only Carlo said he signed Torres but also forgetting Ray Wilkins words(numerous mentions). Ray Wilkins has been critical of the club so many times i don't see a reason for him to lie. Congrats to Carlo, a wonderful person and gentleman deserves this night.
  7. Koke has played CM whenever Simeone switched to 4-3-3, and whenever they played 4-4-2 he literally played like another CM then RW. Koke has amazing defensive work rate, the kid had 10 tackles against Barca in their La Liga finale. I foresee him being another Schwinsteiger in making the transition to a deeper role. Barca also wants him for the Xavi role in their system. Would love Koke here. OT: Pogba or Koke would be unbelievable signing, i would be ecstatic with either. Some are making Pogba sound like a potential player, he is the real deal and can improve almost every top club midfield as it stands. If you consider how much he can improve our midfield atm and what he can become down the road makes his signing a no brainer. But the tough part is getting Juve to sell, it would take crazy money for them to sell. I think 35m is not enough for Juve to sell, i am not sure how much it would take though. Really not sure what is the market for him with FFP restrictions and all that. Edit: I meant LW/LM instead of RW/RM, Koke position for Alti.
  8. pls lets not be stupid and pay crazy amount for Shaw from the Luiz transfer fee. We can get an equally or better player with a different nationality.
  9. No he is not, they did use him and was quite poor. If they do sell marquinhos they can fetch around 25m. Marginal loss for PSG. Luiz+Silva are the best CB pairing in the world, i truly belive that outside of Thiago Silva that David Luiz is as good as any CB in the world. Also David Luiz is very marketable and one of the most recognizable defenders in the world. A marketing agenda is also behind this buy. As for us if we do inded buy a LB, Azpi can go back to RB and that would allow Ivanovic to become our 3rd CB, Ivanvoic is absolute quality as a CB so we don't need to buy another CB to replace Luiz. Luiz is still a big loss not only from quality perspective but also like Mata a major loss as an ambassador for the club. Truly going to miss Luiz.
  10. He doesn't need to reach Azpi level defensively, he just need to reach decent/good. If Mou can do what he did with Marcelo, PVA will be okay. PVA should be on the team next season even if a new LB is signed, he will come handy against the lower EPL teams the ones we have struggled with. I don't see a reason for him to be shipped out before given an opportunity.
  11. Hope i am wrong but i don't think he will replicate anywhere near the success he has had at Alti this season. Simeone has really got the best out of him, he is talented but Atletico is a an amazing oiled machine they have been able to plug in players after player this season. I also have concern over the success he has had against La liga defense. The majority of clubs play high line and Costa has exploited that. Also it would be interesting to see if he can bully PL defenses with his strength the same way he does La liga defense. There are things each league defense do better, but i feel Costa will not have the same success. Soldado and Negredo lack of success also makes it more worrying, because i see similarity between the goals all three strikers have scored and situations they have been successful at. Soldado has made Ade look decent again lol, and Negredo had a quite a good stretch thanks to Aguaro blistering form in the beginning of the season. 1. Atletico system 2 La Liga vs PL defesnse differences 3. One really good season. Whatever you wanna say about his previous seasons, but by far he never played on the level he has this season. Real concerns for me and i would have a hard time believing 35-40m for the player is a good buy.
  12. Unfortunately the club will sell to the highest bidder even if it is Liverpool or any of our rivals.
  13. Matic+Martinez midfield would be monstrous. And no before you ask a Martinez+Matic is not too defensive. I covered this with another poster a few months back, and WEAINTGOTNOHISTORY did a good piece on it also recently.
  14. Couldn't we just ask for Javi Martinez?
  15. If you are aware of Guttmann famous curse its hard not feel sorry for Benfica as a natural.
  16. Yeah Fergie did play a role in Phil Jones lack of development, but there are other factors injuries and ultimately the player development stalled. If Shaw lives up to the hype 30m looks good and we could say he was well worth it. If it goes the other way his transfer could well rival Torres debacle. It is definitely a high risk high reward type deal, it would be a bold decision to pay that amount. I am pretty sure in United case they are being reckless, since they have the revenues to take such risk. They also just want to flex their muscle after City winning the title and them having their worst season in a long time.
  17. You never know he could turn out like Phil Jones aka the next John Terry.
  18. Pogba future is much more uncertain, he still hasn't resolved his contract issues. Vidal is happy at Juventus and really loved by Juve supporters. If they sell it would be Pogba, still it would take crazy money for them to sell. As for Shaw? its a lot of money United are offering, no reason for us to match their bid when there is a good amount of LB in the market. F.Luis, RR, Moreno, and A. Sandro are all LB's we have been linked with. I would be happy with any of them. Seen a bit of all them but definitely seen a lot more of F. Luis. From what i have seen Luis is the more complete LB, more solid defensively and experienced. Sandro has the biggest potential, could very well become the next great Brazilian FB/WB.
  19. There is little to nothing not to like about Kovacic, he can contribute right away and down the road he can potentially become one of the best midfielders in the world. I know Inter has a history of selling young talented players, it would be utterly suppressing if he was sold. Kovacic, Modric, and Rakitic are Croatian midfielders that get mentioned a lot. But i also find Hamburg's Croatian midfielder Badelj very interesting. Badelj along with Modric are the more natural pivot players. He is the best defender out of the four talented midfielders, he averages 3.6 tackles and 2.9 Interceptions which is excellent for a player with his offensive ability. Not the biggest stat person, but his performances reinforces his statistics. Offensively his compatriots are better, but never less Badelj has an amazing first touch and excellent passer. I believe he can be a steal signing, especially if Hamburg do go down.
  20. Torres is under contract, what Mou said was the pragmatic thing to say. No one is going to announce a player is leaving if he is under contract unless a deal is already in place.
  21. I was about to respond to your replay to my post, but after reading this post seriously you are beyond hope and completely lost. You are by far the most negative poster on this forum or a complete troll. Maybe both.
  22. If Cavani was playing in the EPL and had the season he had at PSG he would have been called a flop. Didn't live up to the expectation and his teammates are unhappy with his commitment. It is also rumored the player has told PSG that he won't play outwide again, unless Ibra amazingly decline over the summer he will play out wide again next season. A straight swap between Oscar and Cavani would be a bad move already, adding cash to the deal would be ludicrous. As for Luiz? PSG paid 45m for Marquinhos, you think they won't pay 30m+ for Luiz? We don't have to debate this because time will tell and Luiz will be sold for more then 30m.
  23. We could lose Mikel and Lampard in the summer, and send MVG on loan.In that scenario we would need two midfielders. So it is possible that we would need two midfielders. In that scenario he would not be a bad signing.
  24. At Madrid he had Marcelo and Coentrao, Marcelo was a fav of Mou even though his compatriot was the better defender. PVA work rate and mentality will determine his fate with Mou. When Piazon was on form and was a regular on the left lank at Vitesse no one was questioning PVA defense ability. That is because the duo was causing too much havoc on the other end, and the opposing RB+RW was sitting back deeper and more concerned with defending then attacking. If next season PVA and Hazard were to line up, what do you think almost every team we face would do? they would react to their attacking ability by being defensive. They would get smoked by us if they push their RB forward and/or if their RW doesn't hold back and try to defend first. A fit Hazard tracks back and helps his LB and i bet he would appreciate not being surrounded by 2 or 3 players. I would like to see PVA given an opportunity and i believe he would strive here.
  25. The fact is when you play dire football and when you play like Norwich or Sunderland against good teams, trophies are expected. That is the nature of the beast, when your football style is shit and all you care about is result then trophies is only measure of success at that point. If you play good and sustainable football then you have other ways to measure success. For example it gives you optimism for next season, and at a club like Chelsea with so much resources you expect it to be fixed. I don't believe parking the bus and being ultra conservative against any decent sides is a sustainable approach. It is a reason why we have dropped so much points against regulation contenders. Its difficult switching your style in such an extreme way, it makes almost impossible to have an organized and cohesive unit on the pitch. It is why we can't create for shit and why some are wondering what do the team do at practice because it doesn't look like we practice passing and building attacks. Sunderland and Norwich have literally given us a taste of our own medicines. It doesn't take a master class tactician to play that style. Finally it also hinders the manager ability to identify the team weakness. For example after listening to him this week i am not sure if he knows this team weaknesses. For example his comments on Ramires-Matic partnership for next season was weird, Ramires has his uses but being a Chelsea regular is not one of them. Yeah we have a striker issue, we all know this but we have other holes and this point i am not sure if Mou knows this. So i truly cant say if this season has given Mou the opportunity to access the team weakness and identify its needs. btw good football for me does not mean a lot of goals or sexy football. For me it is something we can build on, i am not sure what we can build on the way we have played.
