You can't produce a Michelangelo with bloody Crayons, so this whole thing about Sarri being ready to "work with what he's got" ain't gonna fly here. So hopefully that's not our boards mentality. "Ah, we have a good squad who just happened to underperform under Conte this past season. We'll just make one or two mid-level signings and compete for the title next season." Would anyone be surprised? The same mentality they had after Mou last won it. Tread water.

Two genuinely good midfielders for Liverpool then. Both in before the World Cup. Also strongly linked with Fekir who seems more than open to the move. If they get a good keeper to replace the shite they have currently then they have a scary side. That'll then be yet another PL club who have straight up eclipsed us in terms of transfer market clout.
-
Our rivals are already starting to sign top players and our managerial situation still hasn't been sorted out like you said. They've clearly had plans in place and we're just waiting for the season to end before acting. We are going to be so far behind once the World Cup starts.
-
Must say, having not watched any of Jorginho during this season and seeing Milinkovic-Savic (also from Serie A) being linked with our rivals I've done a bit of YouTube scouting of both. While Jorginho looks good and would be a great addition to any PL side, Savic looks insane. Like, good enough to start for Real Madrid/Bayern/Barca good. If one goes to City and the other to United where they are being linked, damn. Each will have ridiculous midfields. Kante deserves to have midfield partner(s) of his quality here.
-
If Barca made Messi available for £10m our board would go in with offers of £6m, £7m, and £8m until Barca walked away from the table. Haggling over €8m, ffs. Roman probably has that in his jewelry box.
-
If Bale does go there's only one club he lands at and we all know who. It's what United have done repeatedly since Sir Alex left. Buy big names regardless of fit. Mou will be absolutely desperate to overtake his nemesis Guardiola. Wonder how much it would take for Real Madrid to sell. Whatever it is, probably not good for us if they do since they'll likely then look to Hazard as his replacement.
-
Us offering that amount of money for any player isn't happening, nevermind a defender.
-
Liverpool are the worst defensive team in the top 6 and were the only ones to beat City this season out of all of us, weren't they? They just blitzed them with all out attack and weren't scared shitless of them like we were.
-
Lot of big time moves happening amongst our rivals already. -Liverpool have Naby Keita incoming already and are going hard after Fekir who seems very likely to be their #1 target. -City are after Jorginho and Mahrez -United look dead certain to sign Fred and Alderweireld and now Alex Sandro as well. Obviously we need our managerial situation sorted first, but hopefully transfer stuff is well advanced already.
-
Wonder what the odds are on Mourinho having a typical Mourinho 3rd season, getting the sack after again finishing miles behind City, and then Antonio becoming their next manager. Would be typical Chelsea if Conte in some way comes back to haunt us in the PL.
-
You have Sané, Sterling, Bernardo Silva, David Silva, and Kevin De Bruyne. You've just walked the league with and unstoppable attack, had a crazy goal difference, and finished on a record 100 points. So what do they do now? Oh, just target Mahrez and Isco for a combined ~€180m. How is anyone meant to compete when City literally have unlimited money and are not bothered or restrained by FFP at all?
-
United and Mourinho busy early indeed. Fred looks done and they've apparently inquired about some other super expensive players.
-
I'd actually be very surprised if we are after another midfielder at all until/unless we first sell at least 2 of our current ones. We've heard nothing yet about whether Cesc is staying. We just bought Barkley. Ruben is surely now ready to be given a legitimate chance as a Chelsea player. With midfield options of Cesc, Kante, Bakayoko, Barkley, DD, and Ruben I wouldn't hold my breath that the club are even after another. Even if we were to sell Drinkwater. All that being said, surely if we bring in Sarri we should be targeting Jorginho rather than Seri? Similar players but one of them actually played under Sarri and he'll know presicely how to use him and what he'd get out of him.
-
Many of the replies to this tweet are hilarious and also sadly true. We have several players who simply aren't good enough technically to play amazing, quick, one touch football. Cahill, Bakayoko, Alonso. Sarri is going to have some job on his hands working with many of them.
-
We won't need to buy CB at all if Luiz can be reintegrated. He'll now have the whole summer to get fit plus who knows how long he's been training already during the season.
-
I will genuinely feel bad for Antonio if he goes from a professional and personal perspective. Say what you will about some of the self inflicted harm he's done this season but he's been brilliant overall and gave us some great memories. Wish it coulee worked out since he's one of the best in the business. Sucks even more that it appears he won't be able to walk straight into another top club like he deserves and will have to take a forced sabbatical. Long as it's not to a PL rival I'd have been glad to see him go to another big European club but they're all taken.
-
Brilliant manager available and waiting for us in Sarri. Welcome Brendan Rodgers.
-
Eh? He's out of contract and they already have Ancelotti, no?
-
Fucking hell, man. Imagine if Sarri is available (which he now is) but Roman is still so obssesed with us becoming Barca that he hires Luis Enrique instead. I mean, I'll back whoever we hire but what a downgrade on Conte he would seem. Sarri on the other hand would be awesome.
-
It's just strange that no one close to the club has said anything like "I'm hearing Conte is gone in ____ time period." Many figured he'd be gone right after the final win or lose. Not a peep since then. Know it's only Tuesday, but like I said before I figured we'd be hearing rumblings by now.
-
I think the fact that it's so quiet right now suggests that Conte may very well stay. I would expect one or two journo's or "insiders" to have leaked by now if anything was immenant.
-
I actually don't question his quality. Excellent touch, can dribble a bit, score in any way possible, can take free kicks, decent on the counter, can link play well with other attackers. It's just his age that would make it hard to justify. Seeing this £100m figure going around which should just immedietly shut this rumor down. No chance are we paying anywhere near that. Has PSG's next Galactico written all over it. Even though they've got Cavani they'll want a new toy to go along with their shiny new manager.
-
After just buying a striker who's 30+ in January I cannot fathom us going out and spending massive money on another one. Lewa will be turning 30 just as the season starts. Wouldn't bother me personally but goes against the club's policy. Giroud was seen as a short term and inexpensive option. Lewa would be a huge outlay and presumably on a long term deal after 30 years old. Just can't see it happening.
-
Obviously not, but I would sure hope they know by now that our players are tired of setting up the way we have now under our last two big managers and will go a completely different route with this next hire,
-
Really hope this shit is resolved within the next week so I don't have to read and worry about us appointing some jerkoff that's completely unqualified. Don't think I could stand the speculation for a month or more. Get it all done so we can enjoy the World Cup and scout some players. All I know is that if we appoint Jakonovic or someone else that's a huge risk we can surley kiss Hazard goodbye. We need s manager who has proven himself at the to level and commands instant respect from our players.
