And you know with England playing tomorrow the club won't want to announce anything to take the attention away.
-
How about we send a Russian assasin instead... Seriously, though. Why does De Laurentiis need to be such a colossal asshole? You have a new manager in place, FFS! I could understand if they were utterly desperate to keep him and he had 4 years left on his contract or something. But they already have a bloody replacement manager and a great one at that.
-
I mean, that our owner is mates with CSKA's should certainly help things, but they can't force him to come here if he doesn't want to.
-
What's most exciting about him is how much better he should look in an attacking team who want to take the game to their opponents. Russia basically set up like a Mourinho/Pulis coached side. Defend for your life and knock it long to the big #9. Golovin has performed very well in a team that doesn't even play to his strengths. Alongside two top midfielders and in a Sarri coached side I think he can be awesome. Just trying not to get too excited because I'm still worried Juve/United/Bayern or someone comes in for him and offers much more £££ + CL football.
-
Honestly expected to wake up to good news. Goddamnit.
-
Wonder how long there will be between the announcement of Conte's departure and Sarri's appointment. The club will probably want to show Conte proper respect and won't announce them at the same time.
-
Honestly hope we sell him and replace him with Alisson before he pulls our shirt on again. Tired of him. Just go back to Spain, ffs.
-
There's so much competition for Alisson that I would hope our club are smart enough to have him 100% locked up before sending Courtois away. Ideally, we sell Tibo to Madrid and bring in Alisson, thereby screwing Liverpool out of their top summer target whilst also upgrading our keeper.
-
I find it hard (if not impossible) to believe that Conte is preparing for next season here. He will surely have long since known he's gone. The club wouldn't have just told him "mate, we've been looking to replace you for ages but it fell through, so you're staying." Either the silence from the club means that he was always going to stay and all of the journalists were wrong or more likely, we are waiting for a specific date (July 1?) to trigger everything. Conte has 100% known his future for a while. They wouldn't just spring it on him as preseason starts.

So, Sunday hot days?

We'll be extremely lucky to get £20m for Drinkwater from a mid to low table club. Maybe a newly promoted team who wants to make a splash. We ain't getting anywhere near what we paid for him back. Wouldnt be surprised at all if RLC gets one more season on loan, tbh. He can only benefit from playing every single game for another season which he wouldn't get here. The danger in that of course is that if he has another great season and improves even more, he may very well not ever want to come back and one of our rivals will try to poach him when his contract runs down. If we can sell Drinkwater and Ruben is loaned, I could definitely see us going after both Golovin and Seri.

A lot of times when you do a bit of YouTube scouting, you can come away unimpressed. This kid really jumps out as very impressive for me. I know the level of opposition he's playing against in Russia isn't top level, but he looks fantastic. Superb on the ball (first touch, dribbling, carrying the ball forward) but also seems to enjoy getting stuck in and winning the ball. Normally players with his technical skill set are very small and focused only on attacking. Golovin is pretty big and can use his body to ease players off the ball. Know who he reminds me of when he's on the ball? A non-lazy Mesut Özil. Silky smooth.
-
Oh, shit! A proper, highly technical footballer!
-
When you think about it, Conte staying makes the most sense looking at the way the club have acted so far this summer. Their silence could just have been letting everything decompress and allow Conte and the higher-ups to repair their relationship. Wouldnt shock me at all if our trolling ass official Twitter account posted a smiling pic of Conte saying "the boss is back on the training pitch and ready for the new season!" Just prepare yourselves for Rondon & Jack Wilshere as our marquee signings, Butland as a Courtois replacement, and some dude from a random Championship side as a Hazard replacement.
-
If nothing happens on July 1st it was nice knowing you guys. I'm off the nearest cliff. 😆
-
I think Hysaj would be a very nice signing. Higuain would be great in the short term so he also makes some sense. Rugani is the puzzling one. The Italian/Juventus fans I've seen on Twitter have been saying he's super talented and they don't want to sell him, but he's far from the finished article that we should be after.
-
I'd put a cheeky little amount on him being next Man United manager if José has one of his signature 3rd seasons. 😄 Seriously though, I can only see him waiting for a big job to open up. He wouldn't lower himself to anything less and rightfully so.
-
Watch, the club will announce that Conte has been sacked and then say something like "we will now begin an extensive and thorough search for our next manager," then go radio silent again for another month. 😂😂😂
-
LOL! So what, will the players coach themselves if we haven't done shit by then?
-
Seems so strange that we're being linked with about 5 CB's this summer. Probably the 4th or 5th priority on the lists of all our needs. Unless we're targeting one from the top bracket like Boateng or Koulibaly I'd just assume we stick to what we have and spend that money elsewhere. A CB core of Azpi, Rüdiger, Christensen, Cahill, and a (hopefully) fit David Luiz is good enough. If Sarri plays with a back 4 we don't need as many numbers there.
-
Tbf, Pjanic is better than Jorginho. Not that it matters because we have no chance at him. Nothing in these rumors at all.
-
Even setting aside the Sarri part of this whole thing, it's actually insane how we've heard zero about Conte since the season ended a month ago. Nothing. Even the notoriously slow acting, reluctant Arsenal are in overdrive getting things done early. And they had the mammoth task of replacing their legendary manager of 20+ years! They've appointed their new manager, signed 2 players, and are right on the verge of signing 2 more before we've even heard a whisper from Chelsea! They'll likely have all of their new signings in for the start of their preseason where they can quickly begin bedding in. I'll bet any amount of money that we'll still be fucking about on deadline day. It's literally unbelievable.
-
Seems strange that every forward we're linked with is and 30 or older. Mertens, Lewandowski, Higuain. You would think that since we already have Giroud who is also that age we'd be after someone like Icardi who is young and will be in his prime for years to come theoretically. When you think about it, though, it sort of makes sense to bring in a top class, experienced forward like those mentioned to fire us back into the CL places.
-
If these latest rumors are true, hopefully we also see some transfers quickly afterwards. Who am I kidding, though? We will probably appoint Sarri, be super excited, and then not hear shit from the club on the transfer front until we're already a game or two into our preseason. 😂
-
Really? I was watching him and France closely as they are my pick to win it all and thought Kante was excellent today. Was playing much deeper than he plays for us (was essentially the third CB at times today) but still looked by far the best of their 3 midfielders. Tolisso and Pogba were both poor which in my opinion contributed to France looking poor overall.
