Força Barca! Don't fuck this up like PSG did!
-
Not even angry or annoyed, really. Liverpool are a class above us right now so we were never going to come here and win when they're absolutely desperate to win. For weeks if not months we've known that it's all about the EL. Hope for the best in the PL but hope is all it is. The thing that really pisses me off is how just a couple of years ago we were laughing at and making fun of Liverpool. We were miles ahead of them. In such a short time they've eclipsed us and can laugh at us instead. And the gap will likely get bigger once Eden leaves.
-
Yep, that's game over. Switching it off now.
-
How on earth did Emerson not clear that? Literally right in front of him!
-
Loftus-Cheek was very good but if he sharpens up his first touch just a bit he can wreak havok. He's getting into very dangerous positions between the lines. As for CHO, unfortunately he's only receiving the ball from a stand-still position. Makes it easy to get a defender or two in front of him. Have to get it to him quicker and on the move for him to be effective.
-
Oh, wow. This XI has the potential to be great to watch but also backfire spectacularly. Please just don't concede early. Keep it as nervy as we can for them as long as possible.
-
I fucking hate how ridiculously lucky United are all the time.
-
The irony of Alonso, our second worst player on the night, scoring such an important goal. 🙃 Alonso and Pedro looked like they laced up ice skates and played on ice. Fucking horrific from both of them. I just don't get Pedro. One game he has amazing technical qualities and can dribble around 3 defenders. Tonight and on occasion he can't control the ball to save his life. Kova and Barkley are absolutely redundant and useless. Neither offer anything going forward. I don't blame Jorginho at all today. He had no options to pick out at all. Giroud I felt bad for. Not a single solid service all night. Sadly, even Azpi is becoming a problem. Gets caught out repeatedly.

Straight up embarrassing, pathetic first half performance. We made a bunch of Czech league no-names look like Liverpool or Spuds with their pressing and physicality. They absolutely manhandled us. A club that shouldn't be able to live with us simply wanted it more so far. They're first to every loose ball, winning every tackle and physical duel, and making us totally ineffective going forward. Just a shocking performance.
-
Good looking XI for me. Players like Willian, Pedro, and Alonso who have been benched recently will hopefully be eager and hungry to prove a point. Even with our improved position in the PL top 4 race this is still our best and most realistic route to CL football. Getting a couple of away goals here would be fantastic. Hopefully this rotation also hints at Sarri now considering Rubes and CHO as first choices in the PL from here on out.
-
Barca have been very sloppy and lethargic since the goal. They look like they expected this to be a stroll like most of their La Liga games where they could walk through the remainder of it. This United side have to be put to the sword because they always have it in them to fluke their way through by freak circumstances.
-
Much like PSG, this. United can't get a touch against these top teams who dominate the possession. Unlike PSG, Barca aren't massive bottlers.
-
I actually kinda want Spuds to go through this tie. End the annoying quadruple talk, make it so that it's another "failure" in the CL for City after a good domestic season. Plus, Spuds are such massive bottlers that them going through is harmless.
-
For our sake in the top 4 race, I hope Kane is out for a while again.
-
Haters that support other clubs will say we were a 1 man team. But everyone was good today and it was a total team performance. Those 3 changes Sarri has made recently (CHO, RLC, and Emerson) have made a huge difference. So much energy, so much pace, so much athleticism. If only we were utilizing them earlier and throughout the season we'd be comfortably in 3rd and way out of sight of the other contenders. Alonso should under no circumstances get his place back. He'll obviously start in a couple of days in Prague, but Emerson has to be our PL left back.
-
Still 45 to go, but must be said we look far better and more decisive with RLC as the third midfielder than we do with either Kova or Barkley. He's strong as an ox and links well with the forwards. If he keeps it up this'll be the 3rd very impressive match on the bounce.
-
This game is done and dusted by halftime if Higuain was sharp and in form. Getting into fantastic positions and having shots that he's made his living on. Just a split second off. Giroud on current form buries a couple in that first half. Overall, maybe our best performance in a long while. Solid in all phases. Now comes the time where we have struggled. Opposition making changes to their game plan at half time and hitting us in the mouth.
-
Depending on which West Ham decides to show up, they've got quite a few very dangerous players that can punish us. On the counter with Anderson or Arnautovic, set pieces with Lanzini, or crosses/tap in poaching from Chicharito. This will likely be a very tough match.
-
Nice. Plenty of attacking quality to bring on if things go south. Hope Ruben especially impresses again. Make it an extremely difficult decision for Sarri in that midfield spot.
-
Definitely expect Sarri to revert to his favorites Alonso, Barkley, and probably Willian. As for the game plan, we'll likely again have the lions share of play but have to make damn sure we don't leave ourselves wide open to the counter which is their best avenue of scoring. Can't allow Azpi to be stranded on an island against Felipe Anderson or he'll get destroyed.
-
United have gone through it in recent years with Ronaldo, Liverpool went through it with Suarez and then Coutinho, Spuds with Bale and Modric, Arsenal with RvP. Now it's our turn to sell our best player in their prime. All those clubs have managed to move on well for the most part. Liverpool, through excellent management and great signings, are now far better than they were before. Spuds likewise. City are the only club in the PL now who are probably immune to having any of their players poached because they have the best coach and unlimited money to offer in wages. Our problems are that we may be fucked by a transfer ban and even if we aren't, our club are shit at recruitment these days. Even Sarri has come out over the last week and said he wants to keep Kova who has been average, Higuain who has been disappointing, and doesn't feel like we need another midfielder to compete with Jorginho. So we'll basically have the same squad as this season minus our best player. Doesn't sound so great, does it?
-
Just have to pray that the club spend the money wisely (if we even can this summer!) and that Pulisic isn't viewed as the direct replacement because that won't be good enough. This would probably be the absolute worst possible time for us to lose our best player. Nevermind the transfer ban, all of our rivals will be getting stronger than ever. We'll be in danger of taking a massive step back if we don't adequately replace Eden's production.
-
It's so nice to see some actual incisive, quick thinking passes in the final third. Forming little triangles like you see City and Liverpool often doing. We've played sides like this all season who sit deep and deny us the middle of the pitch. We usually try to force it through with slow passes. This is what quick play gets us. Ruben, CHO, and Hazard were great today without even having to raise their game. They were kind of nonchalantly dominant. I think Ruben should 100% be given an extended run from here on out. More direct and decisive in the last third than either Ross or Kova. In form he's basically unstoppable since he's so strong.
-
Really refreshing and exciting looking team. Interested to see how this midfield 3 does.
-
Nuno of Wolves should be a serious contender for us if Sarri goes. What a coach he is. What a team he's created at Wolves.
