Our players looked like they knew Fulham couldn’t lay a glove on us so they just kinda coasted for much of that 2nd half. The whole back 5 just look insanely comfortable and confident even if a mistake is made since there’s enough pace to cover. Even when changes are made.
Hope Rüdi is back for Madrid, though. Don’t trust Zouma in a game like that where they’ll be really pushing to score.
Ziyech had some sloppy moments there but was far from our worst player. Pierced the Fulham lines numerous times with great passes. This hasn’t been poor from him by any means.
I think Timo will be incredible playing off an actual #9 next season. It’ll do his confidence a world of good not having to be depended on as the lone striker and he can concentrate on his out-to-in runs that he’s so good at. Even in this horrid form he’s creating chances and terrorizing defenders in open space.
We need to turn Werner into our Heung Min Son next year. We need our Harry Kane, though.
This is like the first half against Madrid. Creating golden chances at will but choking at the final touch repeatedly.
Once again, imagine what a proper, world class striker would do in this team… 😔
Our CM is totally nonexistent. Billy look super rusty and is getting bullied. Ziyech doing himself zero favors here either. Giving the ball away repeatedly.
We have no buildup from the middle at all.
Surprise, surprise. Another small, shit, relegation bound side come up against us, press high, and we simply cannot deal with it.
‘How does this happen time and again?! How?
Hopefully TT has got them motivated and extremely hungry for 3 points here. Unlike against Brighton. We can’t overlook them and drop more idiotic points.
Absolutely must win this at all costs.
Thought for sure Giroud would start here. Not even in the squad.
If nothing else he could’ve used some minutes here in case we need him sharp for Real Madrid.
City are a completely soulless club to me who I neither hate nor think much about at all. Potentially losing to them in a final would be gutting not because I hate City but rather just because it’s a final against a PL rival.
If it was Liverpool/Arse/United I’d be utterly devastated and depressed. City are just kind of a nothing club.
Anyway, I think City would MUCH rather face Real Madrid than ourselves in the final. As we showed yesterday, their midfield is slow and can be blitzed through with pacey players and aggressive pressing. City will know that we can damage them in the exact ways that they’re susceptible in.
So, not quite as bad as it could’ve been in the end for PSG. If they play out of their skins and catch City on a poor day they can still get through.
Battle of the Champions League bottlers it is!
PSG can’t handle being forced back very well because it happens to them so rarely.
They we’re fortunate last round as I thought Bayern could’ve scored a bunch more.
PSG are one of those sides that you can’t allow to flow and build rhythm. You have to aggressively get in their faces and rattle them. Get them off their game. They’ll toy with you otherwise.
Lukaku is finally at a club where he’s respected and adored by the fans and the manager. Inter winning their first title in ages and are pretty ambitious. Not sure if he’d even want to leave, never mind the fact that he’d probably cost way more than he’s worth. I’d have him back of course but not for £100m or whatever.
If we pull off the miracle and win the CL I think we may be able to pull a Hazard and convince Haaland.
Kane is 100% impossible.
Decent enough result but if we had a killer or two up top we’d be popping the champagne and dreaming about the final already.
Anyways, Kante was unreal today and completely dominated the entire Real Madrid midfield 3. Jorginho was calm, cool, and collected in there as well. We weren’t troubled through the middle at all shockingly.
As shit as Werner’s finishing and decision making have been he’s still wreaking havoc with his pace and running. Just have stick with him for a while and hope he delivers. Getting in the positions, making the darting runs. Just needs to get his confidence.
For my sanity’s sake I pray we don’t have one of those games where our press looks nonchalant and we just allow them to boss 70% of the possession. This being the away leg we can afford to be a bit more ambitious and try to take the game to them.
