Not gonna lie, it’s super anticlimactic seeing us line up with such an undercooked XI on day 1 of a new season. So many of our best players not starting and zero new faces to freshen things up. Think this could be a tedious one with this lineup.

As everyone expected, they’re genuine title contenders. As will Liverpool who many pundits and fans seem to be writing off as past their best. This is going to be the hardest fought title and top 4 ever.

The one aspect in which United are vastly superior to us in. They have a midfielder who can pick unbelievable passes and assists (Pogba) and a midfielder who can score for fun (Bruno). It could take Mount a month or two to score 3 goals from that #10 position whereas Bruno can get that in 1 game. Kante, Jorginho, and Kova may not get more than 1 assist all season long.

Fuck sake. We may legitimately take a couple of months to see the best of this team. And by then we may be in a hole chasing several teams.

There’s been nothing at all about an incoming midfielder for weeks/months, guys. It’s clearly not happening. Hopefully we secure Koundé and then that’ll be the end of our business. We’ll just have to pray for Kante’s health for the whole season.

If that’s the case I can’t imagine Haaland would be demanding more than that in wages. So that must mean he told us he wanted to wait until next summer to survey his options and we couldn’t afford to wait ourselves.

This is the slowest transfer we’ve known is done ever. He doing a world tour before signing or something? 😂

It’ll probably be the same old story. They’ll sit deep and let up pass the ball around with 80% possession and struggle to break them down. I think it’s critical we start the season well or we could be left behind by the other title challengers before the race really starts. If I remember correctly Liverpool and United have extremely soft fixtures to start with. Or at least one of them does. We can’t afford to fall 6-9 points behind anyone.

We’re almost surely going to look a whole lot like we did last season for at least the first few games until Lukaku gets up to speed and any other new signings are brought in. And by that I mean we’re going to really find it difficult to score goals and our pattern of play will look very laborious and tedious.

Didn’t Ziyech also get injured in the final match of preseason last year as well? Imagine how he must be feeling… 😔

A 180, no. Significantly better than last season, yes. Don’t need him to be a world beater just competent.

Yeah, it’s just sad watching Timo like this. Doesn’t look any more confident than last season. Just don’t get how someone can go from an almost arrogant assassin in front of goal to this.

Not really sure I understand playing several players who clearly won’t be here. Also not sure I like the idea of like half our best XI not playing a single preseason match before the PL season starts. Even if it’s just for 60 minutes I’d have played as close to our best XI as possible. We have a tough as hell start to the season and need these guys to hit the ground running.

Seeing as there have been zero links with anyone for RLC and since he’s in today’s squad I think he’s staying as our 4th choice CM.

I don’t recall actually seeing Kai leaving his medical and then boarding a plane like we did with Rom. Maybe my memory is fuzzy. I’m guessing it’ll now be Thursday for this announcement since we won’t do it on the day we have a match.

Much as I think Tammy is just an above average striker, I still wouldn’t sell him to a London rival like Spuds or Arse. Can see him getting on well at either. And like Lukaku having a chip on his shoulder wanting to prove all his doubters wrong, Tammy will have that same thing. Better he takes out that frustration of not making it at Chelsea for a foreign club than for a domestic one who can harm us. I mean, imagine if Tammy goes to Arse and outscores Lukaku this season. 😬😬😬 We’d be bantered for years. As for Moriba, he just has the look of the standard ultra talented youngster we always buy. Will probably go out on loan and never really actually play for the first team. Hard to feel anything about these links. We need a midfielder who’s ready made.

Watching highlights of his time at Man United and he is still very much effective in the box surrounded by defenders. He’s not just a Jamie Vardy type who almost requires open space to sprint into. He’s very strong in the air and at moving defenders with muscle. If we know we’re going to play an extremely deep defense those are hopefully the matches where Ziyech starts to whip the ball in over and over for Rom and Havertz.

100% need a midfielder. We can get on fine if Jorginho or Kova get injured for a bit but if Kante does we’d struggle in midfield against top sides.

Play with Harry Kane? How can Spuds suddenly afford 50m for a CB and 70m for Lautaro without selling anyone? Kane is surely off?
