I see that along with Reece and Mount, Mendy is also going to be offered a new deal. But should we really be rushing to offer Edou a new contract? Are we sure he’s our best long term solution? He can be a fantastic shot stopper when in form but also makes so many silly errors and let’s in a few that he shouldn’t. His distribution can look serviceable sometimes and woeful others. We should definitely hold off on any contract offer until we’ve seen the type of season he has.

Looking at the window as a whole with both in’s and out’s it’s honestly astounding. And this is the very first window this new ownership group have ever participated in. Boehly had to establish relationships and get the whole operation set up in the span of a couple of months and was still able to pull off this transfer window. Imagine what we’ll be like once we appoint a proper DoF with world class scouts beneath him.

I actually think the number that was rumored/reported that Boehly was willing to go to was £300m. And I fully believe that we would’ve done so if we had more time. That period early in the window where there were weeks of no movement probably cost us another high profile wide attacker. Regardless, we’ve done extremely well. And I wouldn’t even rule out a busy January depending on how things go.

Zakaria didn’t get his work permit in time so not in the squad for tomorrow according to Tuchel. RLC is over his injury so his options for midfield are RLC, Kova, CG, and Jorginho. With Fofana having several training sessions in his legs now I think he goes straight into the XI which means the RLC at wingback experiment is over. So which pairing does he go with in the middle to handle WH’s very physical, very athletic side? Think it’s almost surely going to be Kova and J5 and we just have to pray that Kova is more fit and we as a team are more assertive to make sure Jorginho doesn’t get exposed.

All we ask is for a striker who can put away chances against shit teams that we dominate. Is that asking too much? He knows what this league is all about and scored goals for fun when he was invested and fully up for it at Arse.

Then RLC gets injured at the same time. He (and all of us, let’s be fair) also probably didn’t foresee Gallagher looking like a deer in headlights after his impressive Palace spell. We looked set in midfield for this season with 4 quality options and then RLC as a emergency player. I think the plan was obviously to address the midfield with a dramatic refresh next summer when Kante and Jorgi would be allowed to go. The fact that we didn’t even try for a midfielder all summer proves it.

So Alvarez off the table, Sangare off the table unless a silly offer comes in, and we aren’t even trying for Douglas Luiz. Reports this morning that Billy G wouldn’t be allowed to leave because of the injury crisis we have in midfield but now reports are that he will actually be allowed to leave even though we haven’t brought a new midfielder in. Are we mental? Sides like Leeds and bloody Southampton ran through our midfield like it wasn’t there. West Ham with Rice, Soucek, etc will probably do the same this weekend in a game we MUST WIN.
