I think what Tuchel really desires with the signings this summer are players who are clear and obvious upgrades on what we already have. I think any attacking signing we potentially do now should be like Sterling. With the exception of Leão, I’m not sure you can say that any of those names in blue will for sure be better than Pulisic/Werner/CHO/Ziyech in a Chelsea shirt. If West Ham weren’t such a pain in the ass to deal with I’d love to make a move for Bowen. But they’d probably demand £80m for him at the same time they’re trying to bid some derisory €30m for Broja.
-
But by then who will be available? It’s the right approach to take given our desperate need for CB’s, but the consequence of focusing all our attention there means that nearly all of the top class attacking talent has been scooped up already. Unless we can work out some sort of deal with Milan that involves Ziyech I’m not seeing anyone that’s worthy of going to get. We may have to stick with what we have until January when someone may become available.
-
Yeah, it doesn’t look like we’re going to be getting another attacker. Which is pretty worrying. What happens if Sterling picks up a freak injury in match week 3 or something and misses extended time? We’re down to the same super inconsistent attackers as last season. Looks like our entire season may hinge on all of our attackers taking massive strides forward in their statistical output.
-
Tweaked his groin apparently.
-
Barca apparently couldn’t stand Real Madrid leaving them behind and are now apparently mortgaging their whole future to buy their way back to the top. Hope it blows up in their faces within the next couple of years.
-
Hard to believe that he can’t find anyone who wants him. One of the most sought after forwards of the last few years. For us to say no thanks his wage demands must be huge. I’d still take a chance on him as a free transfer. He’s like a better Gabriel Jesus who just went for £50m.
-
Still think Jesus would’ve been a solid signing for us but the other two 🤢🤢🤢

Just hit me watching open training of the lads on the pitch at Allegiant Stadium that this is an artificial surface they’ll be playing on and not real grass. I know players have complained about it before and I saw more than one of our guys fiddling with it during their warmups. Hopefully it doesn’t cause any injuries tomorrow. 😰

With almost every top quality option off the table now I wonder if we should take a look at Alexander Isak? Versatile forward who is a proper footballer and not a traditional #9. Can score, dribble, receive the ball well with excellent first touch. Probably wouldn’t cost a bomb. Or did he not have a great season? Feels like there was a lot of hype last summer but not so much this one. Remember Arse fans being desperate for him.
-
My lasting memory of him last season was game after game of him being unable to get past anyone and Chelsea fans almost begging for him not to play because he was so poor.
-
Kind of worrying though that at only 21 that injury he had severely diminished his pace and explosiveness. He was dreadful for much of last season when he was fit.
-
We could still try for you know who at PSG. 🫣 Then they can make their muppet wet dream come true and bring together Messi and CR7 on the same team.
-
It appears we’re doing with Koulibaly what we did with Sterling. Deal done and signed but no announcement for days because we want some cool reveal photos in Vegas.
-
Sané would be amazing but I thought I read recently that there’s no chance of Bayern selling him. I think our best hope at this point is to hope Barca fail to put together the money for Lewa and he falls into our lap.
-
Gnabry officially off the table and extending at Bayern. Another attacker off the table. Unfortunately, it’s looking more and more likely that Sterling will be our only attacking signing this summer unless something totally unexpected falls into our lap.
-
Imagine signing the 3 K’s. Koulibaly, Koundé, and Kimpembe. All French speakers, all CB’s, all built like tanks.
-
Wonder who the next CB we’ll be linked with is if Tuchel really does want 3 total. Or will this be the moment where we just realize that Colwill is worth a chance?
-
KK right, Silva center, Kimpembe left. Trev rotates on the right, if Silva gets injured KK slides into the center where he’s already very comfortable, and Colwill rotates on the left. Now, we’d probably be in a bit of trouble if 2 of our starters get injured at the same time and I’m assuming that’s why we were after Kimpembe AND Aké.
-
Brilliant news, really. Aké made no sense at that price and isn’t good enough to be an every match starter for Chelsea. I don’t think Kimpembe is anything special but he’s still better than Aké and would clearly be a handpicked Tuchel signing who he has worked with before.
-
I meant Jorginho wanting to stay here, not Frenkie.
-
Be a great Jorginho replacement but there’s no way he goes this summer after those comments a couple of days ago about how much he loves it here and wants to stay.
-
Where is the announcement for Mount Kalidou?
-
Also, Leão plays on the left wing in almost all the footage I’ve watched of him which is obviously where Sterling plays as well. So I wonder if that sort of thing is being considered by the club if we’re after another forward. Would we want a more natural right sided player? A left footed right winger is what you ideally want who can cut inside and shoot. Not a dealbreaker by any means of course.
-
Yes, if some sort of cash + Ziyech deal is possible that would be great. But paying the full amount Milan would ask for us far too risky for me.
-
The question about Leão isn’t going to be about whether he can physically hold up in the PL. That’s a silly concern. He’s built like a beast and as I said yesterday has a physique that looks exactly like Zaha’s. My concern with him would be whether his crazy skills and dribbling over in Serie A will translate against much better competition. The same question I have about that dude Antony from Ajax that United are after. Will they be able to effortlessly dribble everyone and be as decisive in the final third as they are in much weaker leagues or will they just look like clowns?
