Arse were also in the mud for like 10 years when they appointed Arteta. They were in the wilderness and a laughing stock. It was easier for the club to go for a rebuild from the ground up and build the team up gradually. We just recently won the Champions League and have a squad that’s MUCH further along than what Arteta started with. So the expectations from Chelsea supporters were much higher. Arteta even in his first couple of mediocre seasons at least showed spells of progress and won a couple of minor trophies. Potter’s flashes have been the odd individual match. Nothing sustained.

It seems I’m the only one who wants it but….Conte is right there… 😔 A manager who connected well with the supporters, is a serial winner when backed in the market, and knows the club/league well. I really don’t see the downsides. Tottenham was the last club in Europe for a manager like him who demands the highest standards. This squad we have needs an authoritative figure who will push them and demand top performances. Not a passionless amateur like Potter who wants to be every player’s favorite uncle.
-
More I read about Naglesmann the more I’m skeptical about whether he is the right choice. He couldn’t be worse than Potter but hard to say he’d be what we need long term.
-
Typical bullshit quotes I’m reading from Potter. Same thing he says after every embarrassing defeat. “Lads gave their all, lots of positives, we’ll make things right etc…” Fuck off. This is the sort of shit the manager of a tiny club with zero resources talks after he gets beaten heavily by one of the big boys. Potter talks this shit after almost every game. Get him out of here!

There’s a world class back 3 coach sitting on the market right now in Conte who has dreamed of having an owner who will match his ambitions. We have a squad (minus the striker currently) tailor made for Conte. We’ve got world class wingbacks, some world class midfielders, and pace to burn with multiple attackers. Give him this summer window to get 2-3 handpicked players in and we will challenge for every trophy. If not him get Naglesmann before Spuds do.
-
All international break to prepare for the mighty Aston Villa and we look like this. With hundreds of millions of pounds worth of talent at his fingertips. We are BY FAR the biggest underachievers in Europe. You give any top coach this squad and they’d be over the moon. They’d kill for this squad. But we decided to appoint an amateur to drive a F1 car. Bite the bullet, pay the massive fee to sack him, and admit you fucked up. This cannot continue.
-
Sack him in the changing room after the match. Don’t even let him enter the training ground tomorrow.

I’m at the point where I might just watch the Real Madrid tie and hope for a miracle and then check out for the rest of the season. We’re just a poorly coached side that’s going nowhere under this manager. Embarrassing to have this array of talent and languishing where we have been all year.

Another soft ass contact with a Villa player diving and conning the ref.
-
Starting to get serious Timo vibes from Mudryk. Looked unbelievable in the comfort zone of his home country against lesser competition but his confidence looks at rock bottom in the PL and in a new country.
-
Not even a fucking foul…..WOOOOOW
-
This is why you can never play Cucu and KK together at CB. Fuck me.
-
Ref giving free kicks for every tiny, minuscule contact to Villa but nothing to us.

WTAF is this team…

Just an idea that seems very unlikely but…. Gündogan is out of contract this summer and all the talk is that he’ll leave City. Barca looks most likely but should we not try to get him on a very short deal? Even at 33 or whatever he is he still looks amazing and would be great next to Enzo. If we strike out on our primary targets or run into issues with spending big money due to FFP, it’s a free option we should explore.
-
City in full flow and with this intensity is insane. It’s like watching a different sport to what we’re playing.
-
Letting Kova go and signing Zakaria permanently would be dreadful business. He hasn’t done nearly enough to justify bringing him back. Decent player but not anything more.

Pretty much all of the quotes I’ve seen from Bayern players on Twitter have been positive about Naglesmann. Feels like almost the exact same situation happened to him that did to Tuchel here. The higher-ups were looking for any small excuse to sack him. A purely political move. Bayern have been an absolute machine in the CL this season and against some top clubs. They’ve sputtered a bit in the league but it’s not like they’re in 5th place or something. So Naglesmann must have really rubbed the hierarchy at the club the wrong way because from a footballing perspective he was apparently doing quite well.
-
Yeah, this summer is going to be utterly insane. It’s going to make last summer and the January window look tame and those were already crazy. We’re probably going to have to be patient when it comes to bringing in any expensive targets like a new midfielder and striker. We 100% have to sell a load of players not just to raise funds but as you said to simply make room. Have to hope that our rivals don’t rapidly scoop up all of our main targets before we get a chance to move for them ourselves. Unfortunately, I think the market for the top striker we need could be dry by the time we’re in position to act. So hopefully we don’t do something ridiculously dumb like panic buying Tammy back for a silly fee late in the summer. He’s not good enough.
-
Sounds like it may be a quiet summer when it comes to incoming with those financial results. Lots and LOTS of outgoings. I just hope we aren’t forced to sell anyone we should actually be keeping.
-
Having seen in form Mount up close during his time here he’d probably fancy Mase over either Conan or Sané, tbh.
-
Yeah, with the MASSIVE talent advantage Bayern have baked in plus a generally really weak league, Havertz will become the player we all hoped he would do when we bought him. At least in terms of stats. He’d score 25 Bundesliga goals per season quite comfortably. Which is why we should be asking for a huge fee despite many Chelsea supporters being fine getting rid of him. He’s still young and not even in his prime. Selling him is FAR riskier than selling Mount in my opinion.
-
I can 100% see Tuchel targeting Havertz and Mount and think both would do extremely well at Bayern. Pulisic and Mendy no chance. Bayern can do MUCH better. Thing is, we’ll be demanding at least £50m for Mount and probably quite a bit more for Havertz and Bayern are well known for chasing inexpensive deals and free agents. They’ll splash out big money here and there but I can’t see them spending £100m+ on a couple of our players in the same window.
-
That 1 week we had that included the Dortmund game has 100% bought Potter the rest of the season, sadly. So we’ll have to watch as Conte and Naglesmann become available and go elsewhere whilst we’re stuck with a dude who thinks he’s managing Brighton or some other small club still. I really don’t see any scenario from this point on where Boehly and Co would decide to sack Potter. If we go out against Real Madrid they’ll just say “eh, it’s Real Madrid. Nobody truly expected us to even get this far.” And there’s not really anything to play for in the PL so those matches are basically training sessions for the players heading into next season. Unless we lose like 5 straight PL matches and the atmosphere becomes truly toxic again he’s untouchable. And since we have improved a bit lately and have key players fit I don’t see us going in a losing streak.
-
Give Conte this exact squad with a new #9 in the summer and we’d challenge for the title next season or at the very least finish comfortably in the top 4. We have all the ingredients for a successful Conte team as well as an ownership group for the first time in his managerial career that has ambitions as high as he does.
