  1. He’s a man with a silver tongue, though. If he gets in a room with Boehly and the rest of the higher ups I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he’s able to sell them on becoming our manager and winning us titles.
  2. What’s needed is someone who instantly commands huge respect from the players. Someone who has got winning pedigree or has at least established something impressive at a big club which also has high expectations. If Potter goes at some point I don’t want us to take a punt on some young up and comer from a small club somewhere. We tried it with Lamps and it failed, we’re now trying it with Potter and the experiment is failing to produce any notable improvement yet. Not sure I’m totally sold on Luis Enrique. Think Poch would be solid but not a sure fire choice. Someone like Flick is interesting and getting some of that attacking Bayern DNA could be hugely beneficial. And then you know these reports about Mou offering himself back to the club sounds just like Jose. He probably thinks he can work wonders with this squad we have. But I think he’s the last guy all these young talents need right now.
  3. Yeah, I highly doubt he would. But it would be foolish not to reach out. Imagine Klopp with a high transfer budget…
  4. If Klopp steps down at Liverpool (they’d never sack him) I’d offer him whatever salary possible to get him here.
  5. I think he will 100% get the remainder of the season. If we show dramatic improvement once all the new boys settle in then obviously he’ll stay. If we labor through the rest of the season with more matches like last night then I think in the summer the ownership can legitimately say they gave him a whole season to improve and we didn’t and then get rid. The tricky thing is that there isn’t some obvious candidate who is out of work that you’d be super sure about. You know who would be a very interesting option, though? Bielsa. For me personally I really want a manger who has a super defined, clearly obvious philosophy. And I do think that we now have the sort of player Bielsa can implement his style with.
  6. Still getting used to the increased intensity of the league but already very comfortable. All he really has to do is iron out the 1 or 2 positional errors he has had each game so far and he’ll be a mainstay in the team for a long time. His few mistakes have pretty much all been either getting caught not fully switched on when the ball gets turned over quickly or like yesterday when he was wrong side of the Fulham winger who raced in behind him. But even after the mistake yesterday he was able to get back in front of Decordova and snuff it out. He basically devours anything played in his area in the air and he’s very calm in possession.
  7. Agree with a lot of what I’m reading here sadly. He looks like someone who is used to working with an ego free, low expectations, punch above their weight sort of team because that’s exactly what he has always been. He’s struggling to get his ideas to translate to a squad full of insanely expensive players who are mostly used to coaches with huge pedigree. I think he’s certainly going to get plenty of time by the owners but he REALLY needs this team to start showing some idea or identity and quickly. Something that convinces the fan base and the players that heading into next season there’s reason for optimism and something to build upon.
  8. We look 10x more solid at the back since Badiashile has come in and don’t have that panicky tendency anymore really. But once we cross the half way line we resemble a late stage Mourinho team. As though we don’t train attacking football at all during the week. No triangles, no patterns that we can repeat like second nature, no incision. A lot of this is obviously down to so many new players and also due to the million different line ups we’ve played, but Potter has to quickly improve us there. Not impressed at all with his football so far this season. And competent, silky attacking patterns are supposed to be his specialty.
  9. If we get nice offers in the summer for all 3 of Mount, Havertz, and Gallagher all 3 should go. Buy Félix permanently to play in that area behind the striker and buy a DM to play next to Enzo.
  10. Think I’m finally off the Havertz bandwagon officially now. His languid, lazy playing style is just awful to watch now. Sloppy relieving the ball, offers next to nothing but the odd weak attempt at goal. Play Fofana and Felix in place of Mount and Havertz going forward.
  11. Just zero quality in the final third whatsoever. Desperately need Félix this next match to hit the ground running.
  12. Gallagher reminds me a ton of Ross Barkley when he was here. Just way too slow in his thinking on the ball for this level. He’s seemingly never totally switched on. I’d get rid if we get another £40m offer. Not good enough for where we’re aiming to go.
  13. Mount loses the fucking ball again…
  14. Kai is someone who, when he has so much time to think about a strike, always seems to make poor decisions with it. He has zero power in his shots for some reason. He’s an instinctual finisher when the ball is played into him quickly. Players like Sterling, Auba, and Mudryk are who you want in the end of these lobbed passes because Havertz sucks with them.
  15. Every time we play it quickly we’re carving right through them. But the slow, walking football allows them to easily defend us. And as someone mentioned they’re just allowing Ziyech on the right side loads of space becasue he doesn’t have the pace to beat them and they’re double or even tripling up on Mudryk to negate any space for him to run into.
  16. Commentator is spot on. Fulham’s combinations and football is far superior than ours because amount, Kai, and Ziyech can’t even get the basics right.
  17. It’s so fucking frustrating watching Ziyech, Mase, and Havertz in this form. Getting into so many dangerous positions and they fumble it repeatedly.
  18. Havertz and Mount offering ZERO again. Lose the ball every time one of them has it.
  19. Hope people don’t go into depression mode if Mudryk and Enzo don’t put in world class performances today. We have to give them some time and Fulham are a solid side. They aren’t going to roll over for us.
  20. Mase is just invincible, huh? Undroppable for man anger after manager. In the past it has been justified but he has stunk up the joint all season and still starts every single match. Doesn’t send the best message to the rest of the boys like Gallagher & Carney who are competing for his spot in the XI, does it? I guess we have to hope the 2 week break has did him some good and he’s back refreshed.
  21. I just think Auba as much as any player in our team this season has suffered from our horrible lack of creativity and service. In many of his appearances he gets on the pitch and barely touches the ball. But we’ve now signed 3 brilliantly creative players in Enzo, Mudryk, and Félix who could’ve worked well with Auba if he came on as a sub if we’re chasing a goal.
  22. Ooof. Auba has been a big time disappointment but I think it’s extremely harsh to drop him out of the CL squad. Why not remove Pulisic who is both injured for a while longer and most importantly we have his position very well covered now? With both Mudryk and Sterling fit Pulisic was highly unlikely to play any role in the CL. Auba was our only actual striker and could’ve been useful. Especially since he’s already helped us early in the competition.
  23. Think we definitely will be in the market for a long term partner for Enzo in the summer. We’ve got lots of young midfielders for the future but none of them are ready to be everyday starters. The rumors a couple of days ago about Amrabat sound pretty good to me. We don’t have to completely break the bank again for another midfielder to significantly upgrade. We don’t have to go for Rice or Caicedo even though they’d be ideal.
  24. What’s annoying with him in particular is that seemingly every time he picks up an injury it looks totally innocuous but then he ends up missing weeks and weeks. I don’t even remember what this current injury was but I thought it was supposed to be minor.
  25. Gvardiol was my #1 dream target last summer but he’d be totally nonsensical now. Even if we move Koulibaly this next window we’d still have two extremely young left footed, left sided CB’s. We may already have a headache on our hands with trying to please both Colwill & Badiashile. Unless the idea is to become a back 3 side for good the last thing we need is another expensive CB.
