This is really weird, isn’t it? A very highly rated young player who has been linked with massive clubs transfers from one tiny French club to another small French club? He could’ve been an interesting fallback option for us.
-
Apparently he’s statistically one of the best ball playing keepers in Europe. I don’t have the stats on hand but it’s something I remember seeing recently. He’s no Ederson or Alisson, sure, but he will absolutely change the way United can play. And it’s a dimension Ten Hag can use that he couldn’t effectively last season. Like you, I’m fine with us not going for Onana. Think he’s really overrated. But I am kinda annoyed that we have comfortably the worst starting keeper amongst the big clubs. None of City, United, Arse, or Liverpool will have to worry about the keeper position any time soon while we on the other hand have to enter this season praying that Kepa is merely decent. Wish we could find our long term solution this summer. I quite liked the idea of Emi Martinez when we were linked months ago. But no chance a super ambitious club like Villa sell him to us.
-
United having a keeper that can actually pass out from the back and use his feet will definitely add a whole new dimension to their team. DDG was an amazing shot stopper for years but was woeful with his feet.
-
The speed of this clear out is crazy. You love to see it. I don’t have anything against Pulisic, though. If he was fit all the time I’d have kept him around for 1 more season. But he never is. He’s going to do very well at Milan if he does.
-
Poch is going to be speaking for the first time in about 15 minutes. Maybe he’ll mention what areas he’s looking to strengthen in. Give us a bit of encouragement.
-
Just wish there were some well connected journalists that could at least assure us that multiple plates are spinning simultaneously behind the scenes. That we’re actively speaking to clubs about transfers. Because right now it feels like we have our entire transfer team working on just Caicedo. And since that deal is dragging on and on we haven’t been doing other first team business. I thought for sure that this would be the week we’d announce a big transfer so the club could move past the bad PR with Mount. But looks like another dead week.
-
Quite rightly it seems like we’ll give him this season to see if he can be the player we bought from Brighton where he was great. He couldn’t have just become a shit player overnight. There’s a very good player in there and we should give him a chance.
-
If Caicedo were to go on and have another top season just like the one he just had I could put my hands up and say fair play to them for demanding Rice money next summer. He’ll then have proven that he didn’t just have a freak season and then revert back to a lesser level. But on no planet is he worth that after 1 great season. He isn’t Enzo Fernandez who has world class ability on the ball and starred at the World Cup. This isn’t Declan Rice who has been playing at a high level for several years in the PL. This isn’t a generational talent like Bellingham. We should put a take it or leave it offer of £75m + £5-10m in add ons in and if they say no, move on and target a couple of other midfielders. Brighton are risking really pissing him off if they price him out of two huge moves in successive transfer windows.
-
I want to see us making concrete offers for the players we really want like they are. They may fail with their initial bids but it shows the target players intent. It turns their heads and makes them determined to get their moves. If we put a bid in for Cherki for example or Wirtz, they may think it’s an opportunity they can’t pass up and ask their clubs to make it happen.
-
United quickly moving on from Mount and are now bidding for both Onana as their new keeper and Hojlund as their new striker. Feels like everyone has kicked into high gear whilst we’ve been haggling over Caicedo for weeks. If Brighton are asking for stupid money we need to just move on and get someone else. All of our rivals are getting their key, must have players in well before preseason matches start. We need to do the same. The only move that started and materialized this summer is Jackson. And we don’t even know if he is being considered as a starter yet. Nkunku was done months ago. We should’ve had at least 1 new midfielder in by now.
-
One player that’s sure to leave who we haven’t heard a single bit about is Auba. It feels like he fell off the face of the earth.
-
Really just do not understand why we don’t throw £80m at Inter for Barella. Unlike Brighton, Inter desperately need money and are always on the brink of the financial cliff these days. There’s no way they’re turning that sort of money down. We can even give them a super favorable price on Lukaku as part of negotiations, ffs.
-
All those stats show is how unbelievably poor our attack has been recently. Mount has suddenly become prime Lampard now that he’s left for United. Didn’t get mentioned at all the whole of last season how poor Mount was when he played. Now he’s gone and it’s the scandal of the century that we sold him.
-
Caicedo isn’t worth a penny over £70-75m. The £80m every journalist has been mentioning was already a big overpay. Nobody is paying Rice money for Caicedo. As for Dybala, I just don’t know where he plays in our team. He’s not a striker who occupies that furthest advanced position, he’s not a pure winger, and we will probably deploy Nkunku in the #10 area if I had to predict. I guess if we used Nkunku as the central striker Dybala could play just behind him. A front 4 of ———————————Nkunku———————————- Mudryk———————-Dybala————————Sterling is packed with unbelievable pace and technical ability, it must be said. I like the look of that attack.
-
Man, we STILL appear no closer to signing a midfielder. 🤦♂️
-
Jeez, I didn’t realize Dybala is nearly 30. Feels like he’s been around forever but I figured he was still like 25 or something.
-
Another day, another report about us signing some teenager for millions of pounds. This time it’s a kid from Everton. We’re going to spend like £100m on kids at this rate and have enough of them to build 5 youth teams, ffs.
-
Probably, but UCL or no UCL he’d still be playing in some of the biggest matches against some of the best teams in the world most weeks. And with him in the team we’d be straight back into the UCL next season. Not like he’s 30 years old and may only have one or two more chances to win the UCL. One season out of the competition when he could then go on to play in it for 15 more years is nothing.
-
I know the chances of success are surely 0%, but PSG’s President has once again today stated strongly that if Mbappe doesn’t extend his contract within the next couple of weeks then they MUST sell him because they won’t lose him for free next summer. I’m not sure Real Madrid can realistically spend €150m or more this summer having already spend mega money on Bellingham and others. I don’t know if any other PL club would be mad enough to pay the money necessary. Perhaps if United gets their state owned takeover within the next week or two. So with this new money we’ve received from sales, why not put a crazy offer in to PSG and try to convince Mbappe? He knows and has worked under Poch, we have several of his French mates, and we could give him an ironclad clause in a short 3 year contract that if Real Madrid bid a set amount that he and the club agree to we’d let him go. He can come to the biggest league in the world and play on a proper stage for a couple of years and then still get his Real Madrid dream move in his prime mid to late 20’s years. If we are literally the only bid on the table and it’s €150m or lose him for free next season, PSG have to at least think about it, right?
-
Anything around £20m is a decent enough price for Pulisic. Like RLC, he’ll do well for Milan if he can stay fit. Which we all know he won’t for long so it’s right that we sell.
-
Like I said in the transfer thread days ago, I don’t really feel anything about Mase leaving. He was such a complete non-factor last season that it already felt like he wasn’t here. If he were coming off of a fantastic season I’d be livid but he’s not. I felt more emotion seeing Havertz and Kova go.
-
Colwill for me is a Reece James level prospect. Someone who can become one of the best in the world at his position if given a starting role. If we even considered selling him, much less to a rival we’ll be competing with, then we may as well shut down the academy. It would be unforgivable.
-
Believe me, I really like Dybala as a player just like I really liked Felix. But for me he needs to play together with a proper #9nrather than actually being the striker leading the line, right? He and Tammy link up really well at Roma. Similar to his fellow Argentine Lautaro who we’re also linked with of course.
-
Dybala feels like a mirror of Joao Felix. Classy footballer, nice and tidy, but won’t actually score many goals for us.
-
It’s the same update every 3 days or so from either Fabrizio or Ben Jacobs. “Clubs are talking, personal terms were long since agreed.” Getting boring now.
