Thank goodness it looks like we aren’t going to get Brennan Johnson and that Spuds are going to spunk huge money on him instead. I’m sure he’ll be a decent player for them but he would be a gigantic overpay for us.
-
We better under no circumstances sell or loan Maatsen after we already let Hall go. We should be giving him a LOT of minutes this season at LB just like Gusto rotating with Reece. He was amazing in the role for Burnley and can be so for us as well. If the club got rid of him and kept Cucu I’d be 10x angrier at that than letting Hall go to Newcastle.
-
I thought we only had 1 loan spot left if the Lukaku to Roma deal happens? If we then loaned Cucu what would happen with all the other deadwood/youngsters that need loaning?
-
Milan and Serie A are these players’ level. You can be slightly above average at a big PL club but in Italy these days you can then be a top star. Napoli are probably the only Italian team right now that would be genuinely competitive with the best PL sides. We battered Milan home and away while having our horror season last year. Perfect level for Pulisic, RLC, Tammy, Tomori, Lukaku etc. Chalobah should be pushing like mad to get a move to one of the Milan clubs. He’d be one of the league’s elite CB’s while here in the PL he’s merely decent.

Pretty much pointless drawing any definitive conclusions from YouTube highlights of goalkeepers but Petrović looks pretty damn impressive.
-
Weird how Poch has repeatedly said in public that he wants another attacking player and you don’t have any of the usual “in the know” reporters saying who that might be. To me that reinforces my prediction a few days ago that we will get someone totally out of nowhere that nobody was really linking us to. We’ll just get a Ornstein bomb randomly that we’ve agreed a deal with some club.
-
Don’t think they’ll have enough goals up top. Antonio runs himself into the ground every season and eventually loses steam badly. Also don’t think they have the quality depth to finish that high.
-
After our win yesterday I looked at the rest of the fixtures and knew there was no point watching any of them. It’s all big clubs vs small ones. Boring weekend overall.
-
This is absolutely not a weekend where it was at all likely any of our rivals would drop points. All of them playing minnows. Forest made it interesting early on but they are shockingly lacking in quality throughout their team.
-
Forest’s tactic of just parking the bus and launching long ball’s up to their big striker in hopes that he gets on the end of them has bitten them in the ass. You can only do that for so long. As I said, United will likely win this comfortably. You just know that this big #9 is going to be a handful probably bully our CB’s when we play them next weekend… 🤦♂️
-
Seeing the way the match is now going I think United still win comfortably. They’ve literally had 90% possession and Forrest can’t get out of their half.
-
Think they’re asking for £50m+ for him which I’m not sure we’re going to spend on whichever attacker we get at this point. We’re probably going to try for another “value” signing like Jackson.
-
The way Poch just described what he wants (a forward that can play anywhere across the attack and not an out and out #9) sounds like he desires basically a like for like Nkunku replacement. That doesn’t sound like Cherki at all, sadly.
-
He’s absolutely relentless. His pressing, running of the channels, and holdup play are spectacular. Few sloppy giveaways where he tries to overcomplicate things but he’ll iron that out. Just think, we paid what £32m for him compared to the £70m+ that United paid for Højlund who has showed even less at his previous club than Nico did.
-
Finally a W. If we can just play the ball quicker we look so much better. Sterling finally looking like the player we hoped we bought. Looks like a man on a mission to prove his doubters wrong.
-
Gallagher plays SOOOO many of those square hospital passes.
-
Chilwell could’ve put it ANYWHERE and scored there!!!
-
Btw, this is the match where Nkunku’s absence is most keenly felt so far. He would be amazing in this sort of match. Depressing that he got injured when he did. He and Sterling in this form on opposite sides would wreak havoc.
-
Don’t think Conor has been bad per se, but if we had a genuine creative gem in there instead of him like a Cherki we would look SO much more dangerous. We look so neat and tidy between the lines and in the buildup but then we look dead in the final third. We need a creative spark badly. This is the worst opposition we’ll play in the league this season and other than high possession stats we didn’t trouble them nearly enough.
-
Poor overall. Luton look way too comfortable out here. We should be relentlessly creating and attacking.
-
Gusto doesn’t look confident or composed on the ball in a Chelsea shirt yet. Needs to keep building it up.
-
Ordinarily I’d also be raging about using this back 3 system once more. But this is Luton. We should be smashing them regardless of system. If we struggle to score here still or God forbid lose I’m going to be seriously worried about this teams mentality.
-
Yep, the Tammy injury recently has completely fucked them. So I guess Jose and their owners have decided that rather than going out and buying a new striker for tens of millions, the loan fee + his huge wages are still cheaper than that. Just hope he performs well enough for them or someone else to finally take him off our books for good this time next summer. Because if he fucks up at Roma I don’t know what we’re gonna do.
-
Ivan Toney is nowhere near an £80m striker and we’d be insane to pay that. Even in our current era of dramatically overpaying for players that would be crazy. Think £45-50m for an established English striker would be fair. But for £80m you should be looking at a truly special footballer which Toney ain’t.
-
If we don’t win this and do so in convincing, stylish fashion then I’ll start to seriously get concerned even though it’s match day 3. We should be imposing our will from minute 1 and trying to get Jackson on the score sheet.
