He’s MUCH more creative than Havertz. Really, the only similarity between the two is that they’re German. Totally different players.

We haven’t been. But Poch’s best Spuds team had prime Eriksen running the show in that area of the pitch. Perhaps he’d want to play a 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 with a more traditional playmaker here.

I’m not really sure a big injury is that much of a worry for someone in his position at only 19 years old. If he was an explosive winger or wingback that’s one thing, but as a playmaking #10 type I’m not sure it’s that big of a deal. He was never a player who relied on pace or explosiveness from what I’ve watched. As long as he’s got two midfielders with legs behind him like Caicedo + Enzo I think we’d be good.

Liverpool are notoriously slow and indecisive in the market much to their supporters’ anger and rage. But they’re in the verge of buying 3 midfielders in the time it’s taking us to negotiate with Brighton.

Unless Barella is possible I’m not sure how many other options are out there that are at his level. Maybe Amrabat?

They probably want £80m all up front. Maybe even some add-ons reaching £85m or something. That’s a stupid price for him but if he’s Poch’s #1 target we have to get it done. Hurry up and move on to the second midfield buy.

It’s like we’re allergic to making signings that are first XI ready. 🤣

It’s honestly starting to feel out of control. How are we going to monitor and and do what’s best for 30 different top prospects at once? Feels like complete overkill. And it’s not like all these kids are being bought for a million here or a million there. We’re spending tens of millions on these guys all together.

I’d hate that. Reece has the ability to play in midfield in a pinch but I wouldn’t want him there for any length of time. Takes away his best attributes.

Ironically, the player Wirtz most reminds me of on the ball is a current City player: Phil Foden. So long as we have 2 midfielders behind him that are tigerish and mobile like Enzo & Caicedo I think we could afford a creative type in our team. And that’s what Poch had at Spuds.

I still maintain that if we’re after a pure, creative luxury player in midfield I’d much prefer Wirtz than Cherki. I know Wirtz’s injury has been mentioned here but he looks WAY more decisive in the final third than Cherki does. He’s an assist and key pass machine whereas Cherki reminds me of Kova. A great dribbler and someone who can carry the ball in tight areas but not someone who decides matches. Wirtz could be Poch’s new Eriksen.

I know a lot of our fans on Twitter are buzzing about being linked with Cherki and I can see why from a pure talent POV. But the more I watch of him the more I’m skeptical about whether he’s the right player for this current Chelsea team and with Poch as manager. He’s got that same demeanor about him as Ziyech and Hazard do. Like they know their talent is awesome so they don’t really need to try that hard and have great work rate. And those things seem antithetical to the Poch philosophy. He looks like the sort of pure luxury player you drop into a team like City who are a well oiled machine.

Just comes across as a classy guy. You can see why so many players of his like him so much. If he and his coaching team can immediately install the fitness and training structure that he did at Southampton and Spuds then he can do big things with this young squad.

Unlike that lazy ass Ziyech, Kudus at the bare minimum is a machine in terms of work rate. And he would be the picture perfect replacement for Kova’s play style. The fact that Brighton are so keen on him should tell everyone that he’s good. Will probably become a £80m player within a year or two if he moves there.

SMS gets hyped up and rumored heavily to leave for a new club literally every transfer window and it never happens. There has to be some reason nobody has ever pulled the trigger other than the asking price. Because loads of big clubs are perfectly willing to pay huge fees for midfielders.

Should be a target for us in addition to Caicedo.

I mean, we can’t really force a player to go somewhere he doesn’t want to. But at the same time he can’t force us to accept a laughable price from the one club he want to go to. This is the problem with us signing so many average players who THINK they’re stars. When we try to move them on they think they’re too good for these smaller clubs.

Looks as though Pulisic will refuse the move to Lyon and only wants Milan. But it’s hard for me to imagine the club accepting just the €14m Milan have offered and rightly so. He’s worth much more than that.

Snap their hand off for that offer.

Hope so. And having let go so many midfielders already I have to trust that the club are on it.

The point that several posters in here have made about the risk of Enzo getting a bad injury is an important one. We absolutely can’t be in a situation where 1 injury to him means that it screws up our entire team as we have nobody who can step in and offer what he does. All the more reason the club better not stop at Caicedo. Imagine how horrendous to watch a midfield pairing of Caicedo & Gallagher would be in terms of linking the defense and attack. 🤢🤢🤢 The plan CANNOT be to have Caicedo as our only new midfielder with Gallagher and these completely untested teenagers as cover.

Looks like Liverpool will make their move for Lavia next. Must say, they’re making some fantastic moves so far. They get Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, and Lavia that is an amazing and total midfield rebuild. They’d go from the old guard of Henderson, Fabinho, and Thiago who can barely move about the pitch any longer to 3 midfielders who can do it all and who are all very young. I’m jealous of them having not seen what we’re doing in midfield yet. 😒
