In my opinion it is always a mistake playing people out of position in defence!!! Should have either played Alex or JT with Ivanovic or played Hutchinson or Bruma.
-
Team selection will be interesting for this one. I would assume that Alex will start, as will Ferreira and probably Hilario. Kalou will also be a probable starter. The press seem to think that Kakuta will start which would be great to see, also players like Matic, Borini, Hutchinson and Bruma will be looking to get in on the action too.
-
As good as Villa is i do not want us to sign him, we need to be looking for someone younger who we can build around.
-
Absolutely perfect performance for against the gooners, can't say much more than that. The defence was perfect and Anelka and Drogba again just looking so fearsome, Drogba is without doubt going to be the biggest loss during the ACN period.
-
I wouldn't have a problem us not buying anyone in January..... We can't sign players just for ACN cover! Carlo is doing a fantastic job here at Chelsea but his toughest test is to come because he is going to have to soon start overseeing a change in personel with a lot of our key players over 30
-
Pace isn't a problem for him and i am sure he will cope physically also. He can play in the Premier League 100%, as i have said before my only concern now is where we play him in the diamond?
-
It will be a very interesting game thats for sure, the Gooners style may suit us to be able to open them up and create plenty of chances. Our defence will have to be on it's toes though because you can bet they will get their fair share of chances. A draw wouldn't be a terrible result away from home but the win will do us so much good and take us even further ahead of the pack.

Stoch is a fantastic talent, always has been.... and not too disimilar from Kakuta although Kakuta has more ability on the ball. Stoch has impressed at every single level he has moved up to, and he has not dissapointed with his loan at Twente, infact he has possibly done better than most thought he would.. Next season will be interesting for him, Carlo will obviously know everything about what he is doing at Twente and will take a good look at him in the summer. Maybe a loan in England somewhere will be the next step or Carlo may find a place in the squad for him next season. What i would say is that he is definately a good enough talent to make it in our first team..
-
Absolutely, if we can get through these games with wins then it sets us up brilliantly for the ACN and also puts us in a fantastic position for success.
-
At the moment the rotation is working very well indeed, we are lucky to have the quality in the squad to be able to do this, and it is keeping the squad fresh for a very tough season where we want to be as successful as possible. At the moment Carlo is making the right changes at the right time, i hope it continues.

Lol, typical of the press to pick up on that.... The whole team played poorly for the reserves last night, that game has zero reflection on Kakuta's ability. He is part of the 20 man squad for tommorows CL game, the only youngster going. I wouldn't be suprised if he came on too. The reserves is a poor guideline for first team ability in truth, the proof is in the training he does with the first team, THAT is what Ancelotti will base his choices on..
-
Thats excellent information and more than i would have been able to give... All i know about him is that he is playing up a couple of years in the national team and seems to be a very good prospect, am yet to see him play though.
-
But if we are not playing wingers then what do you do with him? Would be a waste of his talents. Maybe the right side of the diamond is a possibility for him....
-
Yup, thats where he has played every reserve game so far and where he came on to play on Saturday too... i also thought he would be a Defensive midfielder but it doesn't look like that is where he will end up.
-
With his sheer ability i see no reason why he can't be used as an impact sub on a more regular basis now. We need to keep testing him to see how he copes time and time again with the Premier League. As he has said himself he is probably MORE suited for first team football as the pace of the game suits his style and allows him to do what he does best...
-
Even though we have already qualified we need to win this game to ensure we finish top of our group, team selection will be interesting with Arsenal in mind at the weekend, but i think we will field our strongest available 11 for this one.
-
That was my assumption aswell when he came, but so far he has been slotting in on the left side of the diamond, i am sure he COULD play the defensive role in a similar way to Mikel, but it not where he is natural seemingly..

This match was very enjoyable for so many reasons. Firstly to get the excellent result whilst missing Bosingwa, Carvalho, Lampard, Ballack, Deco & Drogba is such good news for us. Secondly the performance was top class, the passing was crisp and the movement was brilliant, we have seen this more an more this season, Carlo is really getting the best out of us. Essien was just a beast, when you see him put in performances like that it just reaffirms the belief that he is without doubt one of the best midfielders in the world. And the iceing on the cake was 3 youngsters comming off the bench. Kakuta has finally shown what he can do for the first team, pure class. Matic came in and looked very solid, his style very similar to Ballack - he is improving all the time. And Borini came on again and did very well, his hold up play standing up to Premiership tests... Have to give Carlo 5 stars so far, not only are we playing some brilliant football but he is finally giving the young lads a chance - Hutchinson, Sturridge, Bruma, Borini, Matic and Kakuta all making first team appearances is brilliant to see, but they are also looking the part when comming on...
-
Yes Stoch is definately more naturally a wide player. But without wide players in our current set up we will need to fit him in somewhere, and as he has before and can play the tip of the diamond role very effectively that would be his best shot at the moment. Kakuta has also been played almost exclusively as a wide player in his time at Chelsea....
-
Yes Stoch is another very talented lad with bundles of ability which he is proving by being a big impact player in the dutch league. My only concern with Stoch is where he fits into our current set up, the tip of the diamond seems the obvious place, seen him perform very well there before... Kakuta though is without doubt the most talented player we have brought through our academy for a very long time. Watching him play in the FA Youth Cup the year we made it to the final was fantastic, him and Stoch were destroying defences. Hopefully one day they can do that for the first team.
-
I would hope not, and this is what the club need to be looking out for. He comes across as a very calm and level headed lad and no arrogance at all despite his natural flair.
-
Kakuta is a sensational talent!! Now he has been introduced to the big stage it is all about how we deal with him now, we have to do it the right way for him and keep him grounded..... Everyone at the club and anyone who follows the youths and reserves even vaguely closely will have known for years what a talent Gael is, the club will have known the impact bringing him on at the weekend would have been. I hope he gets more chances soon and continues to grow into a role in our first team.
-
In our current set up i think Essien is best on the right side of the Diamond. He is pure box to box and there isn't anyone like him in world football.
-
We would be very lucky to get Hiddink back in some form. But we have to be very careful because Ancelotti is doing a fantastic job here with us, we need to make sure he is happy with whatever is in place 100%. To have Hiddink overseeing all footballing aspects would be very good.
-
Very good for him to get onto the bench immediately and it would be great to see him come and show what he can do....
