  1. i think you just described cesc, but whatever. if only marking a player like bastian was so easy. dont know why most teams dont follow the exact tactics.
  2. i have seen bastian play many times in the last 2 years (since he became injury-prone). the injuries have not affected his class one bit. he is still a world class player. if we are considered about him getting injured, then i agree its a bit risky, but totally worth it.
  3. they also said the same about ballack when he moved to chelsea at 30 or makelele. and i see bastian more as a ballack mode than deco mode.
  4. i agree with you on carrick.but, united had just one RB - rafael. and he was injured more often than not. plus he is still the immature kid kicking at ribery. he has not learned to pace himself through a game and it shows in his injury, darmian is a decent defender and a massive upgrade on whatever valencia did as RB. united's midfield options were carrick, herrera, fellaini and blind. bastian is a massive massive massive upgrade. they needed quality and character, bastian provides exactly that. united will buy a CB - ramos/otamendi. if they do that, they will be right up there along with us and city.
  5. the excuses people are putting in is just laughable. bastian is a world class player. period. he might have had some injuries for the last 2 seasons but doubting "how good he can be in prem" is a joke. the guy is a beast. this is a brilliant short term signing for united.
  6. they needed a RB so that they could play their wingers as a winger. they needed character in mid as well as quality. they needed pacy wingers (depay). all they need is a CB and replacement GK (if ddg leaves).
  7. awesome... united have to be considered as title contenders if they get a cb.
  8. i can only guess what people might not agree with it.
  9. oh great. he is going to be another good player that we are not going to get. this window should probably teach us not to make fun of arsenal anymore.
  10. wrong. he would gives us character. he would give us balls. our midfield surely misses that. getting dominated by a 10 men city and a 10men psg ( at the bridge) tells us how far we are from being a europe dominating team. bastian would give us that. he would add steel as well as quality to our mid. technically limited? really? i remember there being such a massive hue and cry about bastian wasting his "immense potential". RM had not made CL semis for so long, does not mean they were mediocre. bayern were in a transitional phase. and since 2009 have been on the up as has bastian. even if we take that charles is better than bastian was at 26, can you expect even half the improvement for charles that bastian has shown in the last 5-6 years? hell no. what we would have is another squad player in charles. bastian on the other hand would be a great option to have for another 2-3 years. i told this before too. you were judging a team on friendlies, with a massive pep hangover. i told this too before the world cup that for me germany were the favourites. bastian controlled the game. "did not really make much difference defensively or offesively". are u kidding me? do you say the same about iniesta too? some players dont need to score/assist or put in a last ditch tackle to make the difference. they make the difference by running the whole show and the match. such are players like bastian, iniesta, pirlo. every team needs luck to win. tell me which champion does not need luck? spain last WC against chile or scoring a header against german, or robben's misses. italy with zidane. RM winning the CL after being 2 minutes away from fucking up. chelsea CL win. along with tactical nous, you need luck as well as individual brilliance to be the champion. does not mean that the coach sucks or the playerX or player Y did not do much.
  11. dude, i honestly dont know what your problem with germany and german players are, but honestly its ridiculous. you even said that loew was shit or germany did not have a chance before the WC. in the bastian thread you said something like "why is this mediocre player given so much hype" or something of that nature. time to keep aside the hate and realize that bastian is world class. just an year ago, he led germany to world cup with some fabulous performances. he might be 31 but he is better than rambo and mikel combined. i dont know much about aranguiz cos i have seen him play like 3 times, but saying that bastian was not half the player at 26 that aranguiz is now has got to be the most hatefilled statement i have heard on here.
  12. herrera-mata link up was a joy to watch at times last season. blind and fellaini should be just back ups. as should young and valencia. adnan barely even comes into the foray when talking about these players. i am thinking that maria will leave before the end, otherwise mata out, adm in.
  13. depay rooney mata herrera carrick bastian shaw jones new CB darmian new GK/valdes.
  14. so not even bastian.. damn.. we seem more hell bent in offloading kakutas and mceachrans rather than buying world class players.
  15. our lack of activity and involvement even for such WC players is worrying, very worrying.
  16. coming from the man who for 2 weeks could not post anything except for childish and rubbish messages on another player (by the way still waiting for your reply on it). i did wish oscar the best of luck and when he starts playing for us, will support him wholeheartedly. but i wont take nonsense like someone posted about messi playing lesser minutes than oscar or that oscar being the only player to have played so many minutes in football since the beginning of time. those are all horse crap and stupid excuses. as for staying away from the thread. LOL. i ll do whatever the fuck i want.
  17. why not? the similarities are there for all to see. some players/teams never live upto their "potential", arsenal and oscar seem to be in that category
  18. where have i seen this before? thats right. arsenal. false dawn, excuses. lather, rinse, repeat.
  19. the only hope is the fee sum. its so ridiculously low that it seems unreal. i would doubt those numbers.
  20. 50mil euros for reus? and we are looking at 50mil pounds for sterling... damn!!!
  21. ATM have done some great business. with all these wingers coming in, hopefully koke is played as a CM.
  22. no its not and i admit its a fair enough point. but except for 12-13, nothing in oscar's game seemed like it was suffering from lack of fitness, physical conditioning and tiredness. last season, oscar form looked to have taken a dip, not his physical conditioning. look at matic, that was the case of tiredness. then you can look at neymar who also did not have a pre-season and infact was injured and still had a very good season. oscar's second half (infact dec-april) was absolute lack of form. in april he looked good. he looked good against united and he looked very good against arsenal. why? did his form pick up. i think so. and hence i say that his inconsistency barely seems relatable to a pre-season. it seems to be more regarding his own limitations. ps - i am still waiting for messi's playtime stats.
  23. http://www.transfermarkt.com/oscar/leistungsdaten/spieler/85314/plus/?saison=2008 :clown: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oscar_%28footballer,_born_1991%29 "He made his professional debut in 2008." in the first para of "early career". anyways, even if he did not make his pro debut in 08, still tell me the messi stat careers. really want to know where you got those numbers from. oh.. so the pre-season in 12-13 affected oscar's performance in the last season. it gets even better.
