What a testicle! The FA never shut up about how we should show referees more respect (and to be fair there are a lot of good referees out there who give up their time for Sunday League and receive nothing but abuse) but there are a proper bunch of awful ones out there. As someone who had played Sunday league for about 9 years up until last year I have seen some terrible, terrible referees who have agreements with clubs or have a natural bias. Even in regional leagues, where the standard is the highest level before academy leagues we have played with totally incompetent referees and linesman. Our manager has walked in on a referee taking a bribe before in a changing room before a match. There are also referees who 'demand respect' from us before games yet fail to show us any.

Give it a rest.... ^

Close the main tube line to the Pikey Caravan Park on the day of the match. Great logic there from Transport for London. Cheers Boris you tosser.

Can someone, preferably a politician or senior policeman, explain to me why it is considered 'safe' and legal for 100,000 people to jump around, create mosh pits, uncontrollably push each other, stand on top of each other and consume alcohol while out their mind on crack at a concert at Wembley stadium but it is deemed 'unsafe' and illegal to stand and jump around in a set space at a football match?

It is definitely up there with our biggest rivalries. The others are probably France, Germany, Scotland and maybe Portugal now. The hate is down to a mix of political history and football history. The political history is down to stuff like the dispute over who the Falkland Islands should belong to. The football history is related to Maradona's 'Hand of God' goal against us in 1986, Beckham getting sent off against them in 1998 and their theatrics in that game and various controversial decisions in games against them in the past

Because we do care during a World Cup and Euros. Its a cultural thing that we always think or believe we have a chance of winning it no matter how shit we have been. We take huge numbers of fans to tournaments because of a mix of love of football and patriotism and just love the World Cup for the buzz it gives the country at the time, flags hanging out of windows everywhere, pubs completely full of football fans etc.

The club want it both ways. They want a good amount of revenue from ticket sales and a good atmosphere at the same time. The two don't go together. If you look at the top clubs around Europe, the vast majority have very expensive tickets. The atmospheres at Old Trafford, Bernabeu, Nou Camp, San Siro are rubbish because like us they have supporters with so much expectation to win and a lack of passion because only the rich ones can afford tickets. (They might seem louder but its only because they have twice our capacity) Dortmund (I know, bringing them up again ffs) have far cheaper tickets and a better atmosphere as a result because people who actually care can afford to go. I am not for one moment saying 'Make tickets £10, introduce standing, problem solved' because it isn't that easy. The club is a business these days, it charges £50 a ticket because there are enough people who will still pay £50 per ticket. If we made tickets £10 the remaining revenue would have to be made up another way, like another post-season tour. In addition, there are not enough people who sing all game, every game. This is because the majority of people who do things like this have been priced out. Tickets were £10 at Arsenal away and look at the noise we made there because more vocal people could afford to attend. The atmosphere could be improved slightly without altering tickets purely by the club not treating fans in the way they do. A 5 year ban for a smoke bomb and advertising it as a flare on their own website with how pleased they are that they got some fans banned for it? Do me a favour. The same goes for stewarding. Either let us stand up the whole game or accept that we won't be able to make as much noise sitting down. Its a problem right across the UK, not just us.

Good. Glad the greedy prick Murdoch isn't getting everything his own way. Nice to see a company rivaling sky at last. Still think BT will be better value for money than sky, people are just so brainwashed by sky convincing them how brilliant they are and so used to seeing sky with no competition.

Agree with you on most of that, genuinely felt sorry for you when we got that penalty, you didn't deserve such a shit decision after defending so well. Good luck for the rest of the season
