Maybe not better but close imo. The fact of the matter is our strikers will now get goals. Who would of said last season that Sturridge will outscore all of the strikers above, does it mean he's better? no, but he gets goals. Lukaku scores goals wherever he goes, why wouldn't he get goals here? He's young, hungry and confident. Eto'o in his prime was better than Lukaku obviously, but 100 percent not now.
-
He never wanted to sell Hazard... stop talking bollocks.
-
Right now, he is. Costa has the pace, technique, strength and finishing. He's more complete than Lukaku. But to put things in perspective, When Costa was 20, he was playing for Valladolid and only scored 9 goals in 36 games. Last year Lukaku scored 17 goals in 35 games for West Brom and he was 19... Lukaku potentially has it all to be one of the best strikers in the world.

Costa, Lukaku and Eto'o/Torres, would equal to Man city, Livepool and United' strike force. Lukaku will get games, i just hope he doesn't demand to be our number 1 striker. Obviously he's not the finished article yet, on the ball he could be a bit better, but the fact is he scores goals. Costa and Lukaku would be devastating. If we do sell him to fund the Costa singing, what happens if Costa gets injured? we'll be left with Eto'o or Torres...

Mourinho - ‘Will Eto’o be fit? Let’s see. Let’s see if he trains on Monday. Maybe he could play but to risk a player you need to have minimum conditions to take that risk if you think he’s going to be out after 10 minutes of the game you can’t take that risk. If there is a minimum of risk, then yes. We need to score goals. If we don’t score a minimum of two goals we are out. We know that, so if we can have everybody available who can give us a chance to score goals then let’s do that.’ Am I nervous about the match? No,’ said Mourinho. ‘I’d have been nervous if we’d won 1-0 or 2-0 in Paris, but losing 3-1 means I am not nervous. I want to enjoy the game, I want to enjoy the fight, I want to enjoy the risk. So, no nerves. ‘A big game, an almost impossible job — so let’s go. ‘What’s important is that they give everything, that they leave nothing on the field. PSG as a club don’t have the experience we do. But the players do have it. Players from Milan, Inter and other clubs. It will be no problem for them. Will this be a special night? It could be. No... it will be special for sure.’ Lampard - ‘The manager is very, very strong in these situations. We’ve been disappointed since the first game. We have to be positive and try to win the game but at the same time we have to keep our heads. With the squad of players we’ve got we can win the game by two goals for sure. But we can’t be too gung-ho. It’s more about being focused and getting our attitude and the pace in our game right. We’ve got the ability. We’ve got the desire. We have to have a confidence in ourselves and we have to go out to try and turn it around.’

£38 million would be outstanding for Luiz. This season he's mostly played in midfield, while i think he's been good in the position, he is not world class. 38 million is a lot of money and it'll mean we can buy a top quality midfielder to play alongside Matic. If we sell Mikel, Ba, Moses, Marin and hopefully Torres, we should have at least £30 million. It means we can bring in a Striker, a top midfielder and a left back.
-
Hmmm..... maybe because it's true? we're not the greatest club in Europe.
-
I slated him a few pages back, but i have to say he was immaculate today, not only worked hard but looked very dangerous on the attack.
-
Lloris has been shocking this season. He's a good shot stopper but makes too many mistakes.
-
His workrate is insane, but the fact is we could of got someone to press and track back for about 3 million, not 30.
-
So let me get this straight, the papers are claiming we are going to significantly weaken one area (attacking midfield) to strengthen another? doesn't make sense at all.
-
I agree the Mourinho bit, but lets be honest Di Matteo never had a say in the transfer market, Roman and the board bought the players. Rdm was out of his depth, you think the board would trust him with 100 or so million?
-
He's also a bit hit and miss on the ball, sometimes he looks so good on the ball and is able to dribble past a few players, other times he over runs the ball and gets tackled with ease. Same with his first touch. I cant be the only one who has noticed this?
-
He really wasn't, the best game he had was the one against West Ham, apart from that he was in and out of games similar to how his form is now. In the Europa league he played well, but the level in quality was pretty poor, just look at the teams we played; Sparta Prague, Steaua Bucharest, Rubin Kazan and Basel.
-
Liverpool fans classy..
-
To be fair if we do progress how do you fancy our chances against Barcelona/A.Madrid, Bayern or Real? maybe it's a blessing in disguise if we get knocked out. At the end of the day this team isn't completed yet, we have no striker, only one great Midfielder who's not eligible to play, a right back playing as a left back, and finally a goal keeper who's had it easy for far too long.
-
I personally wouldn't get so offended, i bet on the PSG forum they said negative stuff towards Chelsea, it happens. At the end of the day PSG won, but the tie isn't over, anything can happen in the Champions league. Obviously your huge favourites now, but never say never. And IMO the PL's gone, it's out of Liverpool and City
-
You wouldn't, but you can never tell with Chelsea. He has faults and i've said it here many times, technically he's not all there. But he scores goals, he's young and the perfect backup striker. Imagine Costa, Lukaku and Eto'o.. i wouldn't mind that at all.
-
I don't know, i always believed Roman wanted Torres. Guillem Balague always said he was a huge admirer (He's close with Torres and Mata). But who knows, really.
-
What? we were poor throughout i thought but our pressing caused your team to panic, that's not up for debate. If we had a decent striker maybe more would of come from it. In the second half we were dreadful, PSG improved and deservedly won with a little help from our poor defending. Now stop getting defensive, you won, be happy.
-
I'm pinning my hopes on Eto'o, he's a big game player and i just hope we go out all guns blazing. One early goal and they'll be panicking, especially if we press like we did in the first half yesterday and against Liverpool, City and Arsenal.
-
In just four months Matic has become one of our best players. We missed him so much yesterday, I just hope next season we can get another midfielder to play alongside him, someone like Kroos. I'm sorry, Luiz, Ramires and Mikel are not great midfielders, Lampard is on his last legs and it really showed last night.
-
Are we seriously going to sell another proven young striker to a rival? We did it with Sturridge and look at him now.. im not Lukaku' biggest fan but he scores goals. I've always said he should be our 2nd striker behind Costa (if we get him) next season. I get that we may need funds to buy Costa or another worldclass forward, but we had no problem splashing the cash out on Willian, rumours suggest Costa will only cost 2 million more. Instead of selling Lukaku, we should look at offloading Luiz, Mikel, Ramires, Ba and Torres. Lampard and Cole may also be gone. We need to Buy another Midfielder or two, Striker, left back maybe another CB if Zouma or Kalas isnt ready. Bring Courtious back, and if we really want to splash the cash another cheap number 10 (Lallana for example) becuase right now we only have Oscar who's been woeful as of late.
-
He's basically a more skillful version of Valencia, both have no vision or creativity at all. I still can't believe we've spent 30 million on him...
-
He's so slow at diving to the ground, Courtois would of saved that with ease. Courtois needs to come and at least challenge Cech, he shouldn't automatically be our number 1 goalkeeper now.
