I would love to keep Eto'o as a squad player for one more year, should he accept it. I still think he has it in him to produce big performance's with correctly managed game time, his return of 12 goals this season has been impressive considering the circumstances.
-
Imagine if most of these players in the team this season played in the U18 league instead of the reserves/U21? We would dominate that division like no tomorrow.

It has been brought up a few times on various sites that i read, some doubt if a striker will make much difference because of the way we play. I do agree that we still need a lot more than merely a forward to sort our overall game out, for sure.
-
The myth is slowly creeping in that because our system isn't solely based on the striker that a top one won't make a great deal off difference. What i would say is look at the difference a fully fit Eto'o makes compared to Torres and Ba, so imagine an even further upgrade in Costa. Im not saying he alone will turn us into a unbeatable machine, but all the knock downs from Ba that go nowhere, the passes both cock up and the lack of movement from Nando especially, Costa would do those basics even if he is playing awful, which is already a bonus.

If City don't win, a replica trophy will go to Cardiff on the last day.

Like Norwich last year the tie should have been over by halftime off the first leg, we got away with it this time thankfully. The progress with our youth system is mindblowing, 5 finals and 3 wins in 7 years is unbelievable, the next step is getting the best one's in the first team. We are also the first team to reach 3 YC finals in a row since the Busby babes. On another note that Roberts kid for Fulham is something very special.

Wilkins said Carlo wanted Torres and we nearly got him after the WC before he signed a new Liverpool contract. The board didn't help matters, but it's laughable how Carlo escapes blame for that season, sterile tactics, kept reapeating the same thing over and over, naming line up's in press conferences, getting tactically outsmarted by Kenny Dalglish of all people.
-
The board made the signing's before he got here, i think the RDM full time spell showed Roman that pretty football isn't pretty at all if the results don't follow, hench why Rafa was brought in, to get us CL footy and maybe a cup, object achieved but it weren't pretty. Regarding Carlo, a lot of people here stuck up for him and often used the 'you lack loyalty' jibe to people that wanted him out. I wanted him to get another season to rectify it, but i do put a fair portion of the blame for that season on him, which is why it annoys me when i keep reading things implying that his tenure was all roses and sexy football, it wasn't.

http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/premier-league/ballbesitz/wettbewerb_GB1.html We have the highest ball possession in the league. http://www.squawka.c...otal#desc#total Filter by chances created, and you will see us 2nd. Not bad for a team that supposedly only plays defensive football, and has no creativity. A couple of top strikers will sort this out. Eto'o has been good but can't play week in week out anymore, Ba and Torres hinder this team so much.

Its funny how great our ex managers are when they go. With Carlo it's like 10-11 and the stagnant, sterile, borderline comatose footy never happened. Don't get me wrong the double season was amazing, but the lack of blame Carlo gets for 10-11 is hilarious. That still to this day is the only season i was glad ended, infact it stripped a lot of my enthusiasm for the new season, usually im buzzing for the new campaign but that season drained me. Rafa goes, and all off a sudden we played great/good football under him (it's bad enough the scousers have that fantasy, our own fans following suit beggars belief). I wonder if the same people thought the same in 10-11 and when we lost at home to QPR!!!!!!
-
09-10 yes, but you can't seriously be suggesting what he served up in 10-11 was anything close to good football, surely?. It was static, lethargic and devoid of anything positive, worse than anything we saw under Mou, Benitez, Scolari or AVB.
-
Furthermore Fergie was at it for years, bullying ref's, Wenger, Rafa, calling Alan Wiley unfit, publicly ousting Stam, Becks, Keane and RVN, his comments about Jordan Henderson's running style, i could go on and on. Yet how many United fans truly cared about his actions? How many United fans wished they had a manager with 'a bit more class'? None of them and if they did they got their wish this season with disastrous consequences. Mou is what he is and that's not perfect, but it grinds my gears when i see Pep, Wenger and even AVB used as these examples of class.

Ibra and Eto'o would disagree, regarding PG.

Funny you mention that, Danny Fizsman put £50 million into arsenal to fund players like bergkamp and propel them to the title, when you consider £50 million was 2 1/2 times arsenals turnover at the time (City and Everton turned over £12 million that year to put the amount into perspective) is it really any different to what sheikh mansour and Abramovich have done?. Wenger was hardly pennypinching in his early days.
-
Oh yes the old imagine him with money line, the same line that was used on Moyes for years. Simeone is on the verge off making Wenger's money excuse look very, very silly. Oh and about Fergie, he told Wenger to 'shut his mouth' back in the 90's.
-
Im starting to think some people are copying and pasting from RAWK or the daily star.
-
He should be told he has no future at Chelsea, give him the chance to find a new club, if he insists on seeing out his contract then he should go the same way as Malouda.

We show a lot more urgency when chasing a win this season, today, WHU and WBA at home we threw the kitchen sink at them. Frustrating as the dropped points are it's good to see the urgency back in our game. Too many times from Scolari's reign all the way to Rafa we were in cruise mode when we needed a win and was drawing or losing. I remember the 0-0 vs Fulham in 10/11 at Craven Cottage, we needed a win to get back in the top 4 and Essien, Rami and Lamps kept passing it between themselves even in the late stages, Luiz kept by passing them and taking it forward himself.
-
Leti have similar problems vs teams that sit deep, the difference is they are further on in their development so find a way to win 9 times out of 10.
-
If we want an experienced striker than just extend Eto'o's contract for 1 more year. Drogba was awful in his last 2 season's bar the big games at the end, he's a great man and undoubted club legend so honestly, for people who want him back as a player, are you thinking romantically or in a football sense?
-
If LVG takes over United, he could possibly face the same problems that he had under Jose. The Dutchman demands a lot from his players too.
-
Eto'o would have been handy today, the amount of times Ba messed up a simple pass or a knockdown wasn't even funny, even if Eto'o played and was average, he would atleast get the basics right. Costa would make a massive difference to this side. I do like the fact that this season we play with more urgency when chasing games, for years we just use to cruise like we were 5 up.

Here we go......
-
If Van Gal goes United and does exactly the same thing with Mata Jose did, the backtracking will be even funnier than when Ancelotti decided to stick with Lopez in goal.
-
So he plays for United against Sunderland, and United had no clue how to break them down, so much for his sale being the only reason we drop points vs shit sides.
