  1. For sure not the best period in his career right now but people are going overboard, it's not like he's done a Torres style decline, he will evevitably hit top form again soon and I said exactly the same with Costa when all in sundry wanted him dropped for Remy.
  2. I swear you twist things more than defense lawyers taking on hopeless cases. I was talking in general, not today in isolation.
  3. The fact he often plays well but still concedes says more about the defenders than it does about him. From Miranda and Godin to Ivan and Cahill, I think anyone will be having kittens.
  4. Begovic let in some really soft goals when he played, he was cut a bit of slack because well you can't expect the back up to be amazing but still.
  5. Apart from Agueo and Suarez there is no forward around right now that would be a guaranteed upgrade, and neither are remotely attainable. Any other striker would be a sideways move (in terms of level they are at) at best and there's very few of them either.
  6. Mourinho losing the dressing room ran a lot deeper than the training methods.
  7. His link ups underrated, he has often been the forefront of some great moves, main example was Schurrle goal at Ethiad, his aerial play on the other hand not even I can defend him there. The main gripe with Drogba even discounting the goals from either player was his tendancy to see some games as beneath him, a problem I can never imagine us having with Costa, and sometimes barely put the miles in, that's why I think Costa could end up being a more successful league player if h stays as long as Didier did. Of course I could be wrong and he could never reach the heights of Drogba or get close, but as Jose said with the Ivorian himself let's judge him when he leaves us.
  8. De Gea let in similar against Monreal last season. Tibo makes things look easy that would be a problem for nearly every other keeper due to his outstanding position play, take Flaminis backheel shot vs us, Courtois sensed the danger and got in a position were he could catch the ball, a lot of keepers would be in the middle and either let that in or be forced in a great save, Tibo may not have got the headlines for that but his play there was more impressive than a top for the camera save would have been. Also I'm sorry but to say he doesn't win us games is ludicrous, the Carling cup semi vs Liverpool would have been about 6-1 on aggregate if it wasnt for him, he alone got us in that final, Leicester, Liverpool (league), Hull, QPR he made crucial saves with the scores tied and we went onto win, Burnley and Everton he made great saves when they were getting back in the game, and both games this season vs United we got a draw thanks to him (and at Old Trafford last season too). He also won Leti the copa del rey with a fantastic save. The fact he has had a few great games and still conceded says more about the defence than it does about him, maybe he should have done better with Cavanis goal but equally the Uraguin should never have found himself through on goal in the first place.
  9. Costa offers more than goals, a be it not to the same extent as Drogba, his off the ball movement allows for so many chances to be created, even in the first half of last season when he was on bad form, we were creating a lot more chances with him playing than with not, Leti had to adjust without Costa, last season they didn't create even half the chances they did the season before with him. Also it's easy to forget now as he left twice via the party bus but Drogba had many games in every season after Jose left bar 09-10 where he couldn't really be bothered in that particular game (Wigan away under AVB he was infuriatingly lazy) and it cost us lots of flat track points.
  10. He really really isn't. The only reason he doesn't make as many "for the camera" saved as De Gea does is because his positioning means he doesn't have too. Take Welbecks goal on Sunday, I'd bet any money that Courtois in the same situation would have gobbled that ball up.
  11. Tell that to Lingard, Martial and Herrera also Sterling, Lallana and Coutinho.
  12. That's when 4th place will miss out, scenes if that's Spurs again
  13. The quality of the teams make me even more convinced we will bounce back with a vengeance next season. Leicester and Tottenham don't have the resources to sustain what they are doing, United and Liverpool need a massive reshuffle and Arsenal are just Arsenal. We have the peices in place, a solid transfer window and hopefully a strong end to this season to help the momentum for next, I would strongly fancy us to get that title back.
  14. Although I doubt he will ever match Drogbas cup final record, if Diego stays eight years Id bet my left nut that his league record will be significantly better.
  15. United had two youngsters on and another appeared in the second half for Rojo, they were treading a thin line but their was just enough experience on the pitch to compete with Arsenal. City on the other hand had six youngsters on, with only one of them having any real first team experience before that game, that is just a ridiculous rate and a team of seasoned pros were always going to teach them a lesson over 90 minutes, which is what happened.
  16. His defence can be worked on, he's made a few mistakes but he hasn't been bad all things considered. Obviously he will need to improve In his defence for this to work, but many players before him have done it.
  17. Considering we are going to rotate heavily and prioritise Paris and Everton a point won't be a huge disaster, keep the momentum ticking over and all that.
  18. Full backs are always square pegs in round holes, as Carra said no one starts in that position they end up there, Lucas Pizsczek was a striker till mid 20s and hes done all right. Way I see it with Robert as a winger his potential is a decent standard hardworking little player, nothing bad about that but I believe he can be absolute top bracket as full back, so we will in my opinion be mad not to try and develop him there. Also although he ended up in another position from the left wing imagine if Wenger decided to sign a new striker and play Henry in his "natural" left wing position?
  19. Of course not, but Robert has not got great close control and decision making, at full back that isn't much of an issue going forward because of the more space they get, as shown by his goal tonight. I see his potential at as left side version ofAlves, Pep played Dani as a winger a few times and he was average, at right back he's devastating, from what I've seen of Kenedy, if he can improve on his defence, his future is left back.
  20. Even in not so great form Courtois has made saves that would have been certain goals with Begovic in (Martial and Lingards efforts at Stamford Bridge for example). That's not to knock Begovic, they were impossible saves, but Courtois made them.
  21. He picked up the ball overlapping Hazard then ran into the space he had and got his shot away, space he wouldn't have been granted playing left wing. His goal if anything strengthens the argument to play him at full back.
  22. Look at how we took City to the cleaners if you want an idea of how a U21 team would cope in a top flight, City even had a few experienced men out yet we outsmarted them with ease. Even if on paper the youngsters were good enough, there will be too much of a tactical, physical and maturity gap for a team of eleven teens/early 20s to compete with fully developed men on a weekly basis. One or two, three absolute maximum should be the limit of young players on the pitch for a top flight team at any given time, any more and the lack of experience will really start to harm the team.
  23. He's not at his very best but this is all a massive exaggeration. He will be back to his best at no time, nothing to see here.
  24. He's a second choice who has played twenty matches, how is that not enough games?
  25. Sorry but i disagree, i think Azpi has been top notch at left back, i always believed his lack of forward play under Jose was more down to instructions and the play he has been involved in under Guus has vindicated that thought. Since the Dutchman has came in he has has two shots well saved by De Gea and Hennesy respectively, assisted Rubens first Chelsea goal, scored against West Brom, was directly involved in the link up play for two clear cut chances against Everton and sent in the cross for Willians chance at The Emirates. If Baba in a five game spell did even half of that there would be post after post about how we've missed that type of play from a left back, also a right footed left back helps against the growing influx of left footed right winger, as it stands who would you rather go up against Messi? Baba or Cesar? I think even the biggest "Cesar back to right back" campaigner will say the Spaniard. Don't get me wrong i wouldn't complain if he's moved back to the right next season and we give Ake or Kenedy a shot at left back but equally i wouldn't be too upset if we sign a top right back (Aurier any one?) and keep Cesar on the left for the reasons i gave. If the links for Bonnuci wanted by Conte are true, imagine this back four with Tibo behind them. Aurier---Bonnuci------Zouma-----Azpi Not many would be breaking that down.
