How many years on his contract does Essien have left? That seems to be a very important factor in these things. I'd see this as the club might well receive offers but would reject them. Certainly he will be very sought after but we're a big club and we should be able to keep hold of these players.

Seems to me c'mon the chels you've just surmised some theory up in your head about how players behave, how all players want to move to Spain after winning the Champions League, and it's just wrong. We can't completely rule out Essien wanting to move to Spain, but that by no means the club would let him, and anyway, he's made absolutely no statements or slips to any media outlet about that. I just don't see it. They'll probably make a rumour tomorrow after someone tips them off with this thread!

Joey can play either side, so it doesn't matter which side we sign a winger for but the best thing would be for him to be able to play both wingers. Yes get rid of Pizarro and bring up a youth player or two, Sinclair, Sahar and Di Santo should all be up for fighting for a place. Even if we get rid of Sheva too, I would like to think we can rely on these young players to have the odd good game because if we stick to the same system, its mostly just going to be Drogba anyway.

I was very surprised by Matthew Harding chanting Grant's name yesterday, very surprised.

Clearly you don't HAVE to buy every shirt they make. But when they are people like you who are willing to spend £40 per shirt and get everyone they make, I don't blame them for making 3 new ones every year from a business point of view. It clearly is good business. I tend to buy one per summer, although I didn't last year, because we didn't change shirt and because I didn't like the away one. Their change here is not going to change my habits, they won't be getting any more money off me!

With Bosingwa arriving, our priority must be to bring in a better winger, only need one, get rid of SWP, Sinclair deserves a decent go of the first team and should be a back-up.
