Abramovich fears UEFA's financial fair play rules
Styles replied to LDN Blue's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Yes and rightly so but therein lies the conundrum. The youth players are simply not ready and/or trusted and the squad is very small. We need players or we will lose that vital Champions League money. It is a catch-22 of epic proportions and the club has two choices; buy players using Roman's money or sell some star players and use that money to fund moves for 2 or 3 new players. -
Abramovich fears UEFA's financial fair play rules

They don't know anything and this just proves it. This is a reactionary piece simply because with just 12 days or so left in the transfer market the club hasn't bought anyone. -
Shame. It's the one position 'd love to see a young player coming through. We have run so many right-backs in the last few years! I jinxed him. I'll keep my mouth shut from now on!
-
How is our right-back playing?
-
1-0 already?
-
I did but even then I could see John Terry individually was a great defender first and foremost. Vidic is just part of a system. You could replace him with plenty of CBs and there wouldn't be a significant drop in Utd's defensive ability. The issue here is seeing that Vidic is part of a system and not just a colossus on his own. I simply cannot accept he is the best CB in the World. We played far more open at WHL than Utd did. How many times was John Terry the last line of defence and he made crucial interceptions? He didn't recievce half the praise Vidic got after the game on Sunday depsite putting in a more impressive performance in more difficult circumstances.

They do in my opinion. I watched them against West Brom away when they thought they could open up against a lesser team and go on the attack. They were getting split open time and time again and had to resort back to their usual negative style and grind out a win via a set piece. They do not play open football. They are a defence first team where as we are open 9/10 and on the attack.
-
Vidic isn't a ball playing CB. I don't know where you got that from but you are very wrong. He is a hoofer. Do you not remember Terry's huge performance at WHL just a few weeks ago? Playing in a team that was open and going for the win? Vidic could never give that type of performance in a open team. He relys on a unit of about 7-8 Utd players who just shut up shop and expect Nani or somebody else to win the game single-handedly. And if anybody thinks I'm biased I'm really not. I can give praise to opposition players but Vidic best CB in the World? LOL, I'm not having that sorry. He isn't even the best CB in Manchester.
-
Rio is easily better than Vidic in my opinion.

How does Brazil view English football and their players? Do they like Drogba over in Brazil?
-
He really isn't. He is part of a negative Man Utd team that sets out not to be beaten. He wouldn't survive in our gung-ho attacking team that leaves just 3 players (Mikel + 2 center-backs) to deal with everything. Our fullbacks are essentially told to be part of the attack because we have zero width. Utd have a back four protected by Fletcher + Carrick + Anderson. They are extremely negative and any CB would look good in that system. Vidic at Chelsea would be suicide. He isn't fit to lace Terry's boots.
-
That really is doing John Terry a huge disservice to describe him in that way. His positioning is incredible and technically (ball at his feet) he is one of the best CBs in the World. I take everything the Guardian has to say about Terry with a pinch of salt. They almost always criticise him one way or another and don't even get me started on that c*nt Barry Glendenning.

The club gets abuse for ruining Joe Cole!
-
It's only because he's English. You can imagine the inevitable abuse we will get for ruining another great English hope.
-
The young player only has to look at Walcott and Bale and come to a conclusion. Walcott played his 100th Premier League game at the weekend. Meanwhile Sturridge has started 2 Premier League games in 18 months at Chelsea. We are a horrible club for young players to come to. One of, if not, the worst club actually. I hope this young player doesn't come here, otherwise our already sh*t reputation with young players will only get worse.
-
Southampton manager Nigel Adkins Definitely not signing for Chelsea then. Heading to Arsenal methinks.
-
Because we have the smallest squad in the league! Pienaar is a very solid Premier League player that would easily make the squads of Utd, Arsenal, City and Spurs - the clubs we are competing with for a CL place. He offers the possibility to rotate players without a significant drop in quality i.e. Malouda > Pienaar compared to Malouda > *one of the kids*. Pienaar is a good player and will add more depth to a very small squad. £3m is peanuts for a player of his quality.

Did you watch the Champions League final when Lampard scored and got us back in the game? How about the 2007 FA Cup final when Lampard set up the winner for Drogba with a marvellous dink? Or in 09 when he scored the winner himself? You comments are laughable and deserve no serious replies. :champions:

Of course they will. There is no planning going on Chelsea for the future. Drogba will be a Chelsea starter until he is at least 35.
-
Very strange comments there from Redknapp. Carlo is not honest at all, he is a big liar. "Sturridge will start more games." "I'm not afriad to drop players." There is a long list of Carlo lies.
-
This is the moment I realised Frank Lampard is one of my favourite players ever. I still get a little emotional just watching this.
-
I stopped taking him serious a long time ago in this thread.
