With Essien out, you think Mikel will flourish?
BLionheart replied to a topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Mikel is absolutely a superb SUB but he shouldn't be in our starting 11. I think mikel's biggest weakness is that he is too static and doesn't posses any kind of drive or pace needed in midfield , and even though his passing is good but his distribution isn't , also he needs too much time on the ball . His positioning in offense is great as he is very committed but in Defense it's very questionable . IMO Essien is a very good DM and Mikel should be his SUB. and since essien is injured i think we can cope for 6 months or more with mikel as a DM but if Essien wasn't able to get back to his former self after this injury then we need a new DM because as good as mikel as but he can't be our only DM , he is not that reliable . -
I am one of those people BTW , and i think Lamps is still one of the best ACM around too . They had shitty season because of the shitty management of "King Carlo" , you can't judge players during the worst spell of the team in recent history. I think Lampard and Essien Deserves to get a chance to begin this season as starters , they both apart from last year were our most consistent players over the last 6 years ! Essien came back from many long term injuries and returned to his former-self , And Lamps is absolutely one of the most consistent players on earth. Lampard and Essien will both start next season in our starting XI , It's up to them whether to end the season in the same place or on the bench .

No need for him . Ashley Cole is the best LB in the world . But if we are going to use him as a winger then that is even worse , why don't we just buy wingers who are you know WINGERS!!!
-
Although i believe that only 1 out of Fabregas , Walcott and Nasri will leave this summer , and Arsanal will still be a big team . The top 4 will be Chelsea , Man utd , Man City and Liverpool .

If the answer is No , then roman would have kept Mourinho and we would have been playing defensive football as this criteria of players are great at defending but they have problems in terms of creativity and attacking. But it' well known that roman want Attacking football , so i don't expect that approach to be kept at the club specially under AVB However i think the best option will be to keep those tall , tough guys do what they are best at , which is defending and bring new creative players to be able to you know .. attack !! So simply the back-line should be very strong , tall and tough guys , while forwards must have creativity .

Ridiculous speculation really !!!! Terry , Luiz are a great partnership in defense , with Alex and Iva we have 2 great CBs who can easily step into many top teams used as subs . In-fact we might find it hard to keep those 2 satisfied on the bench and i expect alex to want out by the end of next season . and some expect us to add another CB. Terry is 30 for god sake , For a CB that should be his best years and he is gonna start his decline after 33 or may be with his spirit he can be another Maldini but may be that is too wishful . I can assure you all , We will NOT sign any defenders this summer and if we did it will be a RB not a CB .

I would rather Modric or Hamsik. This guy is soooooo overrated , and absolutely not the guy we need in our midfield , what we need will exactly be Modric or someone in that mould .

Sergio Aguero joins the other Manchester club

I would love to see him here , i think we might get him . our only competitors for him are juvenites , and i think he would rather chelsea than Juve and EPL than Seria A. And btw he can be used as a winger , and he will still be very effective . may be his best is at SS but he has all the attributes to make a good inside winger -
OK , read the post then ...

In the 31st of January 2011 CFC has completed the signing of El nino who was back then as some might call the best striker on this planet . Chelsea and particularly Roman Abrahimovic was trying to force this move since 2008 as Torres without a doubt was a striker that would easily step in any team of the world and will add to its quality. But did this move come too late for Roman and Chelsea ?? or was it just a case of Torres moving during the club's worst circumstances since the RA era ?? I have gone through his season was liverpool in 2009/2010 and half of 2010/2011 , during 2009/2010 his season was absolutely great regardless what some might say , he had a great season and scored 22 goals in 32 appearances. He had his worst days with liverpool during 2010/2011 before moving to chelsea but it was almost known for everyone that torres was seeking a way out and that he wasn't happy with the reds , but even then on his day he was deadly as all of us would recall his 2 superb goals against chelsea in the stamford bridge . So Untill torres moved to chelsea he had the class in him , he was still a great striker and superb goalscorer but since then it's a whole different story ... El nino scored just one goal since January , and has played poorly , he seemed to lose his pace , his touch was too heavy , his movement was average and his finishing ... well he didn't have that much of chances but based on the very limited chances he had , his finishing was poor as well. Many people would say that torres's best days are behind him and that due to his several injuries he has lost his pace and that was his best attribute and now he is just an average striker . they will point to his poor world cup form and his start of the season with liverpool and say that his dip in form didn't start when he wore the blue shirt but there was signs of it . They will say Torres is overrated and benefited from the fact that the liverpool team was built around him and they absolutely think that Torres is Sheva no.2 While others will argue that Class is permenant and form is temporary , No player can suddenly lose all of his greatness and that torres has a confidence problem and as soon as that get fixed he will be firing again . Torres moved during a very "BAD MOMENT" for chelsea , all of their strikers were firing blanks so it wasn't just a case of fernando , as most of our goals came from corners or Defense . Torres heavy touch , lose of pace and whole body language showed that he is not comfortable at all , may be he needs to adapt to life in london , may be chelsea style of play needs tuning to suit him more as AVB said but what was clear that torres had a mental problem . but as soon as that is fixed Torres will be back . As i have said before , i have spent most of the day watching El nino's old seasons and I don't think that a player can lose all of his attributes that quickly , that is why i am inclined to the second argument . Torres has been a superb striker and you can't just get from being superb to pure shit , if he was average or he had bad games and good games i might have said that he is losing it but to suddenly lose it all doesn't make sense for me. I am one of those who believe that we shouldn't build the team around torres but a good play-maker and 2 wingers is very much needed to get torres back and to help any other striker playing instead of him.

Hopefully , he will end up anywhere but chelsea . Very overrated player , for a midfielder who is supposed o be a good attacking midfielder his passing is disgusting. Modric is hundred miles better than him .
-
To let the manager make big calls like those , changing the whole technical stuff , bringing his own men is something that has not happened in the past . I think AVB will definitely have more authority than Scolari and Carlo , Hopefully he will have a say in everything that goes around the first team of CFC.

Sergio Aguero joins the other Manchester club
BLionheart replied to .Cee's topic in Transfer Archives
Aguero can be used as a winger , he has pace , trickery , decent passing skills and he is a great goal scorer , although his positioning and defensive contribution can be questioned . i like the idea of having a pure winger , a CF and a SS deployed as a winger in our 3 forwards. Aguero at 32 millions is a great buy , specially at the current prices .... Hell ,he will be cheaper than Carrol!!!! -
Well , here is how i look at it ... CFC are not stupid enough to think that we can survive without new winger and play-maker , so getting this lad might be the 1st transfer this summer and it will be followed at least by a winger and a CM (play-maker). Also keeping in mind that Torres may or may not be the striker we are all looking for , and that preferably Drogba should leave , for us to save his wages , his place and more importantly save ourselves the troubles of having him on the bench , I think this move actually makes sense. I know that most of us can't wait to see us sign a play-maker or a winger to add more creativity , but be patient ....... i have a feeling the rumors about roman spending 100 million dollars this summer might come true .

Is it so hard to admit , that kalou is pure shit !!! you can try to use stats to prove your point , but if stats are reliable then Avram Grant was just as good as Mourinho . Manager Games PL win Overall Hiddink 22 85% 73% Mourinho 185 71% 67% Grant 54 69% 67% Ancelotti 86 63% 64% Scolari 36 56% 56%

Yes , they were . they had a shit squad with only two above average players (rooney - vidic) and even rooney had a very bad start and his season didn't kick off until late march . That is exactly why i found it very impressive to win the league!!!! I know if we were not in a "bad moment" we probably would have won it , but we were and SAF made the most of it . so Credit where credit is due . A great Manager is the one he can get the best possible outcome with the available squad . i know Man united had many better seasons but in terms of best possible outcome from available resources that definitely is the best.
-
SAF best days are in 2010 - 2011 if you ask me , winning the league and getting the 2nd place in the UCL with this squad was like getting from Brazil to Madrid using a Hyundai vehicle. Man united are gonna get much better this year , specially if they added a decent CM .
-
Those two underlined points will never happen at the same time , Us , United and City are definitely gonna be 3 of the top 4 , so it's a matter of either arsenal or liverpool for the only available place in the top 4 . If liverpool are to keep spending this summer , then i think it will be them . the additions of (Suarez - Henderson - Carrol) and more importantly Daglish may lead them back to the op 4 specially if followed by someone like Mata .

Everyone is expecting Barcelone and Real Madrid to conquer Europe next year , and actually they shouldn't be blamed . Barcelone are now an out of the world team , they play football from the future .... they have been for the last 3 years and since guardiola , the best team in the word. And now Real Madrid under the leadership of Mourinho (the best coach in the world ATM) and with their recent additions (Ronaldo - Di Maria - Ozil - Alonso - Sahin - and still adding more may be Neymar as well ) they are now on paper the best team in the world but they are still not great on the field they are not what you would call a Team . However Mourinho has always managed to fix that. But after The EPL has already proved that it's the strongest competition in Europe over the last decade , Can you really write off EPl teams?! May be the last two seasons would suggest that yes , you can write off EPL teams. But i will suggest otherwise . Liverpool looks like they are not satisfied without a UCL Place , they are investing again and they are definitely gonna start their come back next year , Man city are only gonna get better with more and more additions and they will keep adding till they find the right formula , only our London rivals (arsenal - tottenham ) looks like they are standing still and that's why i think they will both lose out on a place in the top 4 in 2012. Man United , the EPl champions ( Ops that hurts !!) and the UCL Runners up , has definitely overachieved last season and they are not that great but they aren't satisfied either . as this is the 1st time in many years that UTD invests heavily in the transfer market !! they have already signed De Gea - Jones - Young which are all (good - great additions) and they are still looking to add a CM , Snieder is their priority now . They don't look bad now , do they ?? If that's what they achieved without those additions what can they do after them under the management of SAF. Chelsea on the other-hand are having a very busy summer as well , we haven't added any players yet but we have made ourselves the best deal in Europe this year by Signing AVB . It looks like now and under the leadership of AVB a new era is about to begin , the aging Jose Mourinho's squad will definitely has a lot of changes this year . Expect at least 3 signings and 3 or 4 departures . Chelsea has the best back 5 in europe (Cech - Iva - Luiz - Terry - Cole) and although we have problems in our midfield in terms of creativity but defensively our Midfield is superb. Chelsea has Two of the top 3 Lone strikers in the world in Drogba and Torres although i expect Didier to leave and some would point that El nino is no longer a Top CF but my point is that in some way or another we shouldn't be having problems netting goals. The main problem is obvious and it's lack of creativity , so if we are to sign a CM (modric) and hopefully 2 wingers . Then i think Chelsea will be the most efficient team in whole Europe . Having a mixture of superb fast paced creative attack and Solid and Superb defensive unit . we had a chance last year to win an easy championship , We could have easily been in wembley in the UCL final !! bu we missed those chances . And now we must know that next year the EPL winner won't need just 82 or 83 points. My point is that we better get prepared as this year is gonna be different to the last 2 . In the UCL Barca won't be the only team to beat anymore as Real and United won't be any easier opponents. While in the EPl the title is stil gonna be between United and us but this time around united are gonna be much much tougher , and they won't end up having just 81 or 83 points . 2011-2012 will be very interesting as Barcelone has set new standards and big teams Like Us , United and Madrid are trying to match that . So expect tougher challengers and an overall much more tougher competition in the EPL and UCL.

We don't need no shit one !!!
-
You will regret those words next year , you'll see . He will be very successful in Man city or barca ... and if he is to come here or to Man united he will be one of the best 5 players in the world next year.
-
Seriously , it will be very interesting to know the release clause in his contract , as given our history it will make more sense to set a small release clause in case roman wants to sack him . But given Andre Villas Boas history , we should set a huge release clause as he might as well leave chelsea using this clause if Madrid or Barca come to his door knocking . he can do to us just what he did with porto . I Hope it's a huge release clause , as it shows that the club is expecting him to succeed and wouldn't want him to leave rather than being ready that if he fails we can sack him without a huge compensation.
-
Although i know we probably won' get him , but i can't help but keep hoping .
-
Come on Boas Sign this guy , just go to roman and tell him we need him . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kEHQ1o_GIoU
