IMO, it's unfair when players who've helped you qualify for a WC aren't taken to the actual tournament in favour of someone who's done nothing to help you get there. You either bring new players in from the qualification process itself or you don't.

Have to say I'm disappointed with that lineup. No start for Ake, who's been with the first team squad for what, 6 months now? No start (or even bench) for Baker, who's been outstanding at the youth level? Swift's on the bench but will he be brought on? Must be demoralising for these youngsters that their work during the season is not recognised, even when we've got absolutely nothing to lose. Edit : Fuck, nevermind. Disregard post. Some of Atletico's higher ups are in India currently because they're tying up with some new franchise here. They were asked about Costa and they said if he wants to leave they can't stop him but they don't think he wants to.Basically admitting they can't compete financially with the other two in Spain and that selling their better players is a reality for them every season.
