I wouldn't call BVB a selling club at all. Their only problem is that like every other German team, they're perennially in Bayern's shadow. They had some major problems with their finances were on the verge of liquidation around the mid 2000s but improved management thereafter means they're doing much much better now. Why they lose - or look likely to lose their better players is imo quite simply because they're not the biggest club in Germany, i.e they're not Bayern Munich. Sahin left because he of Madrid's interest. Who wouldn't want to play for Real? It'll be the same when it comes to Grosskreutz or Sven Bender or Hummels or Subotic or Gotze.
