  1. It's between Eto'o & Drogba for me here. I think Drogba may get it as neither had a great World Cup. Though Eto'o did get the treble with Inter. (I don't why it posted twice, someone delete the other one please )
  2. Here are the nominees for the prestigious African Footballer of the Year award 2010.. Ahmed Hassan Egypt & Al-Ahly Andre Ayew Ghana and Marseille Kevin-Prince Boateng Ghana and AC Milan Madjid Bougherra Algeria and Rangers Didier Drogba Ivory Coast and Chelsea Samuel Eto'o Cameroon and Inter Milan Mohamed 'Gedo' Nagy Egypt and Al-Ahly Asamoah Gyan Ghana and Sunderland Salomon Kalou Ivory Coast and Chelsea Seydou Keita Mali and Barcelona
  3. Yesterday was a bad day, not only on the pitch, but here at TalkChelsea. We saw a lot of cynicism here and a lot of criticisms aimed at Carlo and the team. I'm sure people looking back now will see those comments were simply said in the heat of the moment. To take a line from Batman Begins "Why do we fall? So we can learn to get back up again" & that's exactly what Chelsea are good at. How did we react from losing at Manchester City? We beat Marseille & Arsenal back-to-back with 2-0 wins. How did we react upon having a goal-less draw with Aston Villa? We beat Spartak, Wolverhampton, Blackburn & Spartak again back-to-back How will we react upon losing at Liverpool? We'll beat Fulham, Sunderland & Birmingham back-to-back. A popular song running around Stamford Bridge now is "That's why we're champions, that's why we're champions, that's why we're champions, that's why we're champions!!". Why are we champions? Because we fight back, always. We did it at Liverpool, in the 2nd half, but game has to recognise game, Liverpool put up a good defence. So let's do like the song says and cheer Chelsea on "through the sun and rain, 'cause Chelsea, Chelsea is our name..' :cfc:
  4. I'm not actually lying, I did the same to college today. Funnily enough non of the Liverpool fans did. Got mocked a couple of times and I simply said "we're at the top of the table by 2points & we've only lost 2 games, so jog on "
  5. So I know no-one uses this anymore, but this HAS to go down in the HoF!
  6. Carvalho scored, Real 1-0 Athletico I wonder if things would've been different if we'd had him today..
  7. Something to cheer us all up Madrid derby now, Real Madrid vs Atheltico Madrid
  8. Agreed, but if Essien & Lampard were fit I don't think he would have. The situation called for Ramires to start, not the manager
  9. Josh will not start this. I think he's quite a long way from starting a game, but gradually he'll get more and more time.
  10. Strangely enough I agree with some of your points here. However, I think Sturridge is slowly starting to prove himself to Carlo, whereas before he used to waste the chances given. When he came on vs Spartak midweek he made a considerable difference and I think soon enough Sturridge will become the 1st choice substitute. In regards to Ramires. This wasn't his best game and yes most time first touches do let him down. However this was the same case earlier in the season and after the game vs Arsenal we saw him improve that. Then he got injured and wasn't back till midweek, I think today he got a bit intimidated by the Anfield faithful and let the occasion get to him. However do try and remember he's only 23 and with Carlo's coaching and Mikel helping on the pitch he will improve. He's got good potential, he's quick and strong (though you couldn't tell looking at him).
  11. Great post here! The only thing about Drogba is, this season he's looked very different. "Not interested" is the term that keeps spurring up about him. I think this disrupts the team harmony, if the players see Drogba doesn't look on it then they'll feel lost/frustrated.
  12. I've always thought Kalou is an impact sub. When he comes off the bench he's immense because he's still young and has good pace. I'd definitely like to see Sturridge start ahead of Kalou, and then see Kalou coming on after.
  13. Time to forget Scumpool. Fulham at Stamford Bridge is the perfect game to bounce back. I think Lampard will only make the bench here, Carlo said most likely he'll play vs Sunderland. We need Essien back for sure too. I'd really like to see: Sturridge - Drogba - Malouda
  14. Dude. Drogba was ILL. SICK. NOT FEELING WELL. You can't play a player who's not 100% for more than 45minutes. Use some logic please.
  15. Ah damn.. We were outplayed, fair enough Liverpool. Wait till you come to the Bridge Anyway, let's be glad it hasn't cost us top position. 2points is a narrow lead, but a lead none the less :chelsea2: Let's hope Lampard & Essien are back for Wednesday.
  16. Guys come on.. It was a terrible first half, but Carlo will know what to do! Liverpool are acting like it's full-time. They'll rest on 2-0 so we can sneak in and take advantage, Drogba's warming up so if he's on we'll have a great advantage. We haven't realised yet, but the Liverpool defence is very sloppy today. Skrtel's headers have been awful, Kelly keeps drifting away from the right wing and Konchesky can't keep the pace. Drogba will terrorize them when he comes on. Ramires needs a hairdryer but he'll overcome (he always does!) IF we went on to lose, we'd still have a 2pt advantage. We have Fulham & Sunderland next at HOME, ManUtd are away to City & Villa, they're bound to slip up somewhere. In Carlo We Trust! :chelsea2:
  17. Liverpool think its full time. Complacency in the 2nd half will let them down, Carlo knows what to do. ICWT :chelsea2:
  18. They hardly ever get Chelsea fans/ex-players. JFHasslebaink gets to go on the Champions League panel now and then..
  19. Fiorentina won today, I'm well happy. If Chelsea do as well this will be a good day Also, Bari 2-3 AC Milan Juventus 3-1 Cesena Lazio 0-3 Roma Napoli 2-0 Parma Sampdoria 0-0 Catania Udinese 1-1 Cagliari
