Our centre back pairing of Aké & Chalboah really impressed me. We heard about Aké when he transferred, think we understand why Feynoord were quite annoyed about losing him. Feruz is a good centre forward. Even his original club's despair is understandable. His strength is there, his positioning is good. A bit more placement & power and he could've had 2-3 goals last night, but it's encouraging signs. I see why they refer to him at the Scottish Wayne Rooney, though he's not that similar to him Lewis Baker & Affane also impressed me. Encouraging signs.

Signs are there for Torres to grab an opportunity right now. David Villa (Spain's #1) out for up to 6months, ACoN taking Drogba. It's now or never for him to step up. He must realise his Euro'12 place will be in jeopardy atm.

If it were true, which is highly doubtful considering it's by Daily Fail, I'm sure Higuain wouldn't out-right reject it. Benzema is the man in favour at the moment, Higuain's not playing as regularly as the former.. But Real Madrid would not bargain a good fee. Mourinho would certainly want to keep hold of him, to have good back up options. Though Callejon is doing well too, so he may be tempted to allow the sale.

Put it this way.. If Torres does play, I'll of course support him and hope he does well. Providing, he shows energy, passion, commitment, desire etc. He was never, realistically, going be sold this January anyway. We'd be too short of options. Nando will understand why he's not getting a look in at the moment - Drogba is in splendid form. But hopefully he's working very hard in training, keep his mentality right & showing all the signs he's ready to make a good come back.

Pep organised their academy? Brilliant. It really is outstanding, but then those number.. Over 300 academy players? Amazing. But then again, if you take in such numbers you're highly likely to find such gems as they do in that crop. What it does go to show is the power of investing a lot of time, money & resources into your academy. This is very smart. It ensures the players they do loan out, will actually get their training, match time & general attention.

Fair point, but the dig Touré attempted at Ramires' Achilles in the 2nd half deserved a booking at the very least! Had he connected, he would've done some serious damage.

Tomo is right. As excellent as Ricky was, he also fouled quite a bit. Never the less, his excellent defensive skills compensated for this. Luiz has all the makings to be a fantastic defender, world-class even! Brazil sees it, André sees it, Carlo saw it. Don't jump on Tomo because he said it, he wasn't saying Carvalho was rubbish or Luiz is at his level at the moment.

They said in commentary he was injured. Hopefully we'll see him in the next round.

True, very true. To be honest, if we just keep grooming Lukaku.. All we may need to do is find support for him, who can double up as strikers, and hope they deliver more than we thought we'd get. Like Anelka, but younger.

I like Nathan Aké. He looks like a good defender. He & Chalobah could form a good partnership at the back, however the latter doesn't play a lot of youth football now.

Effectively in January.. We'll be without Anelka (sold), Kalou & Drogba (ACoN). Torres & Lukaku will be our only strikers during this stage (I know it can be argued that Kalou isn't a striker, but let's pretend.). So selling him is silly, I agree. But if he doesn't deliver between Jan-June, then Edison Cavani.. Step up

Chelsea will get their FA Youth Cup campaign to a start today with an away trip to Doncaster Rovers, a competition we won in 2009/10! Kick off is at 18:30 GMT. Expected to see the likes of Piazon, Blackman, Chalobah & Feruz. (More information on some squad members here) We were knocked out in the semi-finals by Manchester United in last season's competition, let's hope we replicate our 2010 feat this season! :cfc:
