Whatever we feel about his performance and such it's incredibly harsh to suggest he's unphased by any of it simply because of the amount of money he makes. Or that we should lack empathy.

To be fair, I think he does make a good point. Friendlies are needed for the international teams to figure out their squads before they have to select the 20-men for the tournaments.. We might not like the timing, but they are important for the international coaches to realise how the team is working. As it is the number of friendlies will be halved from next season from 12 to 6.
