  1. Can't see the club being that stupid to actually loan Essien out to Arsenal. Maybe another club but not Arsenal.
  2. For the prices being quoted, Remy could be a decent signing. Don't see how he'd come here and not be the main striker or have a big chance of becoming the main striker when he has other clubs vying for him to. I don't see it happening personally, especially when other clubs are in for him.
  3. Yeah, because he makes every goal himself doesn't he? No what we need at all, we've got two strikers that can score already - Torres and Sturridge. Huntelaar would offer NOTHING NEW. I'm Dutch. I've followed Huntelaar for most of his career and trust me, he'd be so frustrating to watch.
  4. He would be the worst signing we could make. Terrible, terrible signing. So one dimensional.
  5. A risk we're going to have to take. The season ahead allows us to be a little experimental. Hazard is/was a risk, so is Oscar, Marin, Moses etc. This is the season where we can see whether Torres is good enough, and whether Daniel has the mettle to step up if Torres messes up.
  6. Moutinho's quoted price was €30m, which is about £24m. £22m isn't far off from that. The price wasn't significantly higher for us, we just didn't want Moutinho.
  7. Where on this forum have you seen anyone say Piazon is as good or is going to be as good as Kaka? Barely anyone actually says it. Piazon is a decent young player, no one really says he's going to be world class. It's just a misconception.
  8. Hardly anyone actually overrates Piazon. Almost everyone on here says he's overrated whilst a few actually say good things about him.
  9. That's what I initially thought as well but I don't think Sig was bought to sit on the bench. Unless AVB wants to have him on the right cutting in, I don't see that midfield happening. If I remember correctly, AVB's Porto midfield was more in tandem with: Belluschi Moutinho - Fernando. AVB's 4-3-3 midfield was inverted. That's why I see him playing something more like: Siggurdson Moutinho - Sandro With Dembele rotating. Maybe they can switch it up into a normal 4-3-3 and play the midfield you posted, maye they'll play the midfield above with maybe Dembele on the right or something... I don't know. They've slightly improved the squad though, well done Tottenham!
  10. Dembele wasn't bought to replace VDV, that was Siggurdsson. Tottenham shaping up to play something like this: Lloris? Walker - Vertonghen - Kaboul - BAE Sandro - Moutinho/Dembele Siggurdsson Lennon - Adebayor - Bale That's my guess anyway.
  11. Forgot you guys signed Isla as well! Looking forward to a great match.
  12. Who said Schurrle is a better striker than Sturridge? If you look at stats for example Sturridge's goals to game ratio is a lot more impressive. Your little list are also all assumptions. How do you know RDM doesn't rate Sturridge when we've only played 3 games so far this season? All we can really say at this very moment is that RDM trusts Sturridge enough to be Torres' back up. If we really wanted another striker we would get a proper one, not some winger cum striker player in Schurrle, and we would've made moves a lot earlier. Notice how the forward rumours have died down after the Moses signing? The club really isn't dumb enough to sell Sturridge for Schurrle. Sturridge has terrible work rate? Yeah, let's just build an image and pretend that Sturridge is very lazy and doesn't do anything on the pitch. He's just lazy and waits for the ball. *sigh* I hate how people label Sturridge selfish because he was instructed to shoot as often as he could under AVB. Do you really think it was purely his decision to shoot on sight or don't you think AVB gave him the freedom to? Under AVB Sturridge played as an inside forward. Last season was Daniel's first full season at CFC and he still managed to out score Drogba and Torres whilst playing in a position not natural to him. How you can say he has no future at the club after that achievement baffles me. Sturridge is naturally a ruthless striker, who's at the end of finishing moves, not starting them. That's why he has the mentality to shoot on sight - it's what strikers are meant to do - score. Bringing in Schurrle as a replacement is suicidal. He isn't a natural striker like Torres or Sturridge are. Even in his first season with us, where Sturridge was given minimal chances up front in our FA cup run, Sturridge was our top scorer in that FA cup run. The kid just scores. Watch this video and I dare you to tell me that Sturridge doesn't have a natural finish on him, that he isn't a natural goalscorer: I'm not even going to respond to your Sturridge has terrible attitude point, I just find that ignorant to say. So, with our system, don't you agree we'd need a striker with pace, good feet, someone who's able to make good off the ball runs and someone who can stick it in the back of the net? All those attributes are something Daniel already possesses, so why should we buy someone else who doesn't even have all of those attributes. Schurrle is quite robust, can't lead the line IMO, isn't a natural finisher, isn't as good with his feet as Sturridge... Schurrle's best position is behind the striker somewhere, not up front. Why replace a natural striker for someone who's best position isn't even at CF? Just seems dumb to me. If you suggested someone like Jovetic as Sturridge's replacement then fair enough, but Schurrle? Doesn't make sense. I hate how people write Sturridge off as our second choice striker when he hasn't even had a chance to prove himself there. Please remember he's only had one full season here in a position that wasn't natural to him, where he still managed to out score our forwards. I'm very sure that when he gets his chance up front he'll prove all the doubters wrong.
  13. Schurrle isn't even a pure striker. Why people want him as a Sturridge replacement is ridiculous. He isn't a natural striker like Sturridge is. For me, Schurrle's position in the squad is already filled out by Victor Moses. The club aren't stupid enough to sign him and let Sturridge go out on loan.
  14. Mata has been superb. Just because he isn't scoring or assisting as frequently doesn't mean he's ineffective.
  15. Can't believe people are underrating Juventus that much. You'll be surprised. Juventus are the Italian champions, they didn't lose a game in the league last season. If you think we'd get a result from them easily then shame on you, just because Juve haven't been in the CL recently people forget that they are one of the most successful teams in Italy. Nothing but respect for Juve, we'll need to play our strongest team at top form to beat them. Juve XI I'm expecting is: Buffon Lucio - Barzagli - Chiellini Pirlo Lichtensteiner - Marchisio - Vidal - Asamoah Giovinco - Vucinic Something like that anyway. A very strong team. This should be a great match.
  16. Just because we're buying players who aren't that tall it doesn't mean we're setting up to play like Barcelona. That's pretty ignorant to say.
  17. The verified Oscar account was linked by the CFC twitter account if I remember correctly.
  18. I would assume you have seen lots and lots of Schurrle then. Who do you rate higher personally? Would you get rid of Sturridge for Schurrle?
  19. The underlying point though is that many would prefer Sturridge over Schurrle.
  20. One of the few players I'd be happy with if Danny actually went.
  21. Which is exactly why I mentioned a loan for a decent back up striker instead of purchasing one. Regardless, Remy wouldn't come to the team knowing he'd be back up to Torres, he's better than that. Signing him would stifle Sturridge's and Lukaku's development at the club potentially as well, which could force them out of the club. Something I wouldn't personally want. I can understand why people want him but I don't think he'll come personally, as it doesn't really make that much sense to me as it does to you guys.
  22. Not really, but that's just my opinion. It'd be crucial if we had no back up whatsoever for Torres, but we do have that in Sturridge. With Lukaku coming back next season as well there's really no point in splashing the cash on another back up striker, that is my sincere opinion. I have a feeling the club feel the same as well. Think long term, not just short term. The best thing we could do is perhaps bring in a striker on loan or something, but buying another striker really isn't as essential as many are making it out to be, that's what I think anyway.
