And just shun Sturridge and Torres to the side? Great for squad harmony.
-
RDM said Moses just needs a medical. He's pretty much signed too.
-
He's not naturally, but if worst gets to worst he can play there. He used to at Crystal Palace. I'm glad the club isn't run by some on here, Cavani for £35m as a back up striker? Ludicrous.
-
Moses is here. Seriously, fair enough if people want another back up striker, but Cavani is far from that. Illogical.
-
Danny really isn't as selfish as many make him out to be.
-
Exactly. If you wish to post foolish things then go ahead, no ones stopping you. Just know that peoole will label you in a certain way. xPetrCechx actually posts a couple useful stuff, which I and other users are grateful for. If you don't like it just ignore it, no need to slander him for it. Keep up the good work mate, a lot on the forum appreciate it.

And that is exactly what we need.

Super Frank Lampard!

Pjanic plays in a position where we're packed. We've got Oscar, Mata and Hazard and a couple more all playing in the positions he play. He wouldn't be bought as a SFL replacement.
-
Neymar's best position is on the left, not behind the striker. We're packed there already.
-
Not really. He's just being a good sport keeping everyone informed about the situation. Why try to put a sinister twist on it?
-
Where did you get that from? If we really wanted a striker there would be concrete evidence everywhere. That is certainly not the case.
-
Before we had a strike force of Drogba, Anelka and Kalou. We've now got Torres (Drogba), Sturridge (Anelka), and ? (Kalou). What I mean by a Kalou option is someone who is satisfied being a squad player, someone who's versatile enough to play in different positions etc. Someone like Moses is a decent example.
-
Like I said, perhaps we need another Kalou option on the bench. Apart from that I don't see the point in getting a striker who won't be prepared to sit on the bench.
-
Again like I said, these clubs play TWO of these at the SAME time, so they can afford that luxury. Dzeko is rumoured to be leaving, Berbatov is practically on his way out. It's important for squad balance. We've always played with one striker, and before we had Drogba, Anelka and Kalou vying for that spot. Anelka still played with regardless in an unnatural position, so essentially the only striker on the bench was Kalou usually. Anelka didn't complain because he still played. Like I've said, perhaps we need to fill up on that Kalou spot in the squad, but getting Cavani in for that spot is illogical to me. Someone like Moses would be more logical. I seriously can't see us having Torres or Cavani on the bench regularly. I can't see them constantly rotating either. What if either hit a rich vein of goal scoring form? Do we drop them from the team? Of course not. Waste of money to me. Torres has enough competition in Sturridge, he knows Danny is good enough to take over if he fucks up, so he'll need to stay on his toes and perform well regularly. Signing Cavani would stunt Sturridge's potential too. I believe the club aren't really looking into it either. Cavani is a good player but he wouldn't be a good signing for us IMO.
-
Nope. We weren't creating much before the Cahill goal, but before Reading equalised we bossed it. After we equalised we started to create chances again too. We weren't that horizontal in the game, there were a lot of diagonals and decent off the ball movements that really helped us play well.
-
So now Sturridge is good enough to start? Funny how one game can change people's opinion so much.
-
Maybe because they all play more than 1 striker at once?
-
It's not that Roman couldn't buy Cavani if he wanted to, the deal just seems illogical to me. That's why I'm saying people are deluding themselves if they're hoping for Cavani to come this summer.
-
I'd like to see a starting line up of: Torres Hazard Sturridge Oscar Lampard Mikel Cole Terry Cahill Ivanovic Cech I think Mata deserves a rest. That team would really take it to them. Put us on the front foot.
-
People are deluding themselves if they think we're actually in for Cavani. Torres and Sturridge will lead the line, with maybe another third Kalou like striker coming in for further back up.
-
Don't know why people even bother with Kojo, best thing to do is ignore the majority of his posts.
-
Oh, and I'd just like to add. The way we played during the first 20 minutes of the game... The way we bossed it... Start getting used to that against teams of Reading's calibre. Once the team gels even more we'll see this type of domination against others too. Maybe a bit too early to say this but... If the team gels quick enough and the likes of Hazard, Mata, Torres, Sturridge and Oscar hit top form we're title contenders.
-
I really don't see the point in getting Cavani. Torres and Sturridge are good enough for me, maybe add a Kalou like player to that and we're set. Just like when we had Drogba, Anelka and Kalou.

I advise people to watch the game again without the emotions involved. You'll see who was good or bad even better then. Hazard, my my, what a superb player. Unbelievable how a couple of people on this forum said he had no "creativity", he's sure proven that notion wrong. Cech didn't have his best game today but it's just a minor blip. What I love about Petr is that he can disregard below average moments easily. Mentally, he's very strong. Our defence still needs to be worked on, the transition into the new style of play will take a little bit of time for the likes of Terry, Cole et al to fully get used to but they'll definitely improve as the season progresses. To me it's quite unbelievable people want Terry to be dropped because he's slow. Terry has never had pace to begin with, and our defence + team looks so much better and a lot more inspired whenever he's on the pitch. It's ridiculous to suggest he should be dropped IMO. Which brings me to the double pivot. Mikel and Lampard are two superb players, but for our style of play I don't think we can long continue with these two in the pivot, especially when we're facing teams that pressure a lot. Lampard leaves Mikel exposed way too much and it's hard for Mikel to do something productive with the ball when all of his options have been closed down or obstructed. Lampard needs to be more disciplined in the role. He definitely has the capabilities to be the link from the pivot to our 4 up top but his natural instincts usually overrides his tactical instructions. He was better today but he has the ability to do better. This is why I think we need a player who's natural role in the team is to link the transitions up; someone like Modric. We'd easily play so much better with a pivot of Mikel and Modric as Modric doesn't have the tendency to join the attack as much as SFL does. Mikel played well today because he wasn't exposed due to Reading sitting deep. In bigger games Lampard will need to be more disciplined to make the pivot work. Mikel does work very well in this style of play, but only when the team isn't being hassled. He's perfect for teams that sit deep as he allows us to retain possession better. An outlet. Our attack. The potential there was superb. Personally I want to see an attacking four of Sturridge, Mata, Hazard and Oscar in action - I believe they'd be so dangerous together. When Danny came on today he changed the game for us, he really is explosive. This is exactly the reason why we're looking at bringing in Hulk or Moses, their explosiveness can help us break down stubborn defences a lot. Personally I'd like to see something like this tried too against stubborn teams: Torres Mata Sturridge Hazard Sturridge as a second striker. We wouldn't rely just on Torres for the goals as we'd have a different goal threat in Sturridge, which would automatically create more space for the whole team. This team would be so dynamic. Torres really wasn't as bad as some people make out on here. He was decent, linked up play alright... Had a couple of bad moments but they weren't suicidal or anything. One difference from last season where he would play really well and not score is that he now is scoring whilst not even playing well. This bodes well for him in the future. 2 in 3 isn't too bad. MOTM: Eden Hazard.
