  1. Edinson Cavani keen to play under José Mourinho at Chelsea http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/jun/10/edinson-cavani-jose-mourinho-chelsea
  2. Hang on, didn't you say that your reaction wasn't referring to the fake quote? Let me remind you: Anyway, I don't see what's so wrong about a player wanting to come to a club because he wants to work with a certain manager. I don't think any player comes out and says "I only want to come to X club because Y manager is there, not because of said club's history". Obviously if you're going to post something like that in the Edinson Cavani thread after he said that it's natural for one to deduce that you're talking about Edinson. I'm not saying that Cavani wouldn't want to play for our crest, again I don't know. I'm just using common rationale, how I'd think about it if I was a football player. Again, you can't say with conviction that what you said wasn't an assumption. Your initial quote is an assumption that you think that players who say that they want to work with a certain manager aren't moving because they want to play for the badge. Double standards. I don't need a lesson on CFC's history. I never even alluded to us being anything like Notts County (don't know how you've deduced that) but you're being naive if you think that most would-be football players back then were dreaming of playing for Chelsea instead of the likes of Real, Barcelona, Milan etc; you have it wrong in my opinion. Regardless, my main point is that there's nothing wrong with a player wanting to move to a specific club if he wants to work with a certain manager.
  3. 1. Why would you randomly say in an Edinson Cavani thread that you don't want players who only want to come to Chelsea because they want to work with Mourinho then? It's not something you'd randomly say - what he did say was that he would like to work under Jose Mourinho - are you telling me you wouldn't sign him because he said that? That's mind boggling. 2. Still doesn't make it void that he's said in the past that he wants to play for CFC. 3. I'm not underestimating how the club have grown at all I'm just being realistic - I just think anyone is deluded that most modern football players solely come to Chelsea (not even just us, other top clubs too) just because they want to wear the crest. Key word being most - especially those of Cavani's generation. We weren't a top 5 European team when Cavani was growing up whereas we were when someone Lukaku was growing up. Again, it's stupid to say that you don't want Cavani because he said he wants to work under Mourinho.
  4. Well. 1. That quote is obviously false. 2. Cavani has said before that he would love to play for CFC, when Mourinho wasn't here. 3. You're deluded if you think most players come to Chelsea because they want to "wear the badge". Being cynical and deducting things from a false quote for no reason.
  5. Good question by Sky Latin America.
  6. I'm actually enjoying the presser, I know people want to get to the juicy bits but I think that the questions on stability and his relationship with Roman, that the CL isn't a priority anymore, that the likes of JT and Lamps are not having any privileges etc. are just as good. It's just interesting to hear all of these little things which are more important to me than questions about Cavani and stuff. Don't know why people are just watching this presser for transfer questions... Like I said before, there are far more important stuff about the wellbeing of the club and the direction we're moving in that I'm interested in.
  7. Also basically saying that he wants the likes of Terry, Lampard, Cole and Cech to stay on to help the younger players.
  8. Jose clearly wants to stay long term with us.
  9. Contender for post of the month already.
  10. Where the hell are people plucking this Torres shirt sale figure from? Torres has not made CFC hundreds of millions of profit in shirt sales. That's nonsense.
  11. It's been discussed countless of times over the whole forum and even on this thread if you go back a few pages...
  12. wouldn't be surprised to be honest. Typical sub standard Pool signing.
  13. One of the most nonsense things I've read on here tbh.
  14. If Ba has a good season, he can easily grab 15 a season yeah, which is good for a second choice striker I think. It's down to Mourinho, but if we are choosing to sell between Torres and Ba then obviously we need to move on the former first. Not even a question about that in my opinion.
  15. Come on, you're being naive. Okay, Ba hasn't been that good for Chelsea but if you think Torres is better than Ba then you must've been sleeping for the last two and a half years. Forgetting the price, Ba has been a much better striker than Torres over the last 2 and a half years, that's fact. Torres was not the best striker before he joined Chelsea, that's nonsense. I love how people are willing to forget how garbage Torres has been over the last 2 and a half years but when Ba has a rough 6 months with us it's easy to write him off. Anelka was exactly the same when he joined us in January 2008 and guess what? He finished top scorer in the league the season after, after he had a proper pre-season with the team. Again, I love how you're saying "forget the stats" but then being them up for your convenience when it comes to your argument against Ba. Ba has scores 2 in 14? Torres has 8 in 36. To even say Torres has been better than Lukaku last season is absolutely laughable. You can't just forget their wages or prices either. Ba was brought to be the 2nd/3rd choice striker, whilst Torres was bought to be the leading striker. You can't have a £50m who's on £175k a week as your 2nd choice striker. That's nonsense. Ba's been off form in his last couple of games so it's easy for people to look at him and write him off. Torres has ended the season quite well and people are willing to forget his whole time here. It's nothing short of delusional I think.
  16. Quite reliable. They're certainly not The Sun, Daily Star or the Daily Mail. Still waiting for the source of the quote though.
  17. 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 is what suits the majority of the players in our squad.
  18. According to Leverkusen Mourinho's made it clear to them that KDB's staying. Add to the fact that Schurrle would sign for £17m... It's not as bad as you're making it out to be.
  19. So potentially KDB back and Schurrle... What I wanted to begin with. Nicely done CFC board and Jose, if true of course. That's depth for the '3' fully sorted out for us now.
