I refuse to get all gauzy just because we backed into 3rd place (only because the other teams utterly collapsed) and finally had a great game (the EL final) The brutal truth is Azpi was absolutely dreadful a majority of the time going forward and there were plenty of games were even his main strength (defence) was far, far from convincing. Hopefully he rebounds in a new system, but he soon turns 30 this summer, and it is all downhill from here. 95% plus of fullbacks hit the 30yo wall and dramatically decline. Look at Marcelo, a perfect example. There are literally no WC RB's over 29yo atm. Kyle Walker and Azpi are the only over 28yo's who would make our squad. Kieran Trippier (spuds wanker), Mário Fernandes (love him, I would trade him for Azpi in a heartbeat, he is like a far better passing, defending and more pacey Alonso, almost a right-footed clone, save for the fact he can run all day and has a motor), and Alessandro Florenzi (Roma) are the only 28yos who would. It isn't until you get to 27yo's and under that you start to find multiple WC RB's. For LB's it is basically the same. Marcelo is 31 (just turned) and is barely WC (I say NO unless he rebounds huge, but do not see that happening at RM), he has been consistently benched at RM, and has always been shit on defence. Now he is a pure joke there. Jordi Alba just turned 30 and is deffo, DEFFO WC (and he maybe the rare, rare one who sustains at a high level for 2 or 3 more years, time will tell), but then you have to drop down to the 28yo's to find any WC LB's. (and it is only 2, Alex Sandro (who we will never get, as he will only have half a season left before 30yo is we bought him in summer 2020, and NO way should we be buying any more 30yo or near 30's), and MAYBE Faouzi Ghoulam). I do not rate Danny Rose (28yo) truly WC, but he would make our squad, that is for damn sure (as we are fucked at LB). 27yo's? There maybe ONE, Marcel Halstenberg of RB Leipzig. That's it, literally, so LB is even weaker (in terms of sheer numbers for over 26yo's) than RB is. Fullback now is truly a young players position, save for a couple exceptions.

the ban is pretty much a done deal, it is confirmed we did not ask for a freeze, and there is zero chance CAS wipes it, we just have to bite the bullet and deal and yes, we so need Happy on the squad

Nicolas Pepe is set to snub interest from several Premier League heavyweights and sign for Bayern Munich. https://metro.co.uk/2019/06/08/nicolas-pepe-makes-transfer-decision-amid-liverpool-manchester-united-interest-9871841/ We dodged a bullet AND no way Bayern still sign CHO, unless he totally gives us the bollocksing and leaves on a free next summer.

Why Chelsea should not attempt to freeze their transfer ban
Vesper replied to James's topic in Chelsea Articles
It is playing out almost exactly as I have suspected for ages. I just hope the board tears it up in summer 2020. If they fuck up that window, we could be looking at a long run of non-top 4 footie. Of course the club may be sold by then too. I have zero clue as to the long term outlook, other than are rapidly ageing players will be worth a vastly lower amount by summer 2020. Azpi, Alonso, Luiz, Drinkwater, Pedro, Willian, Giroud, etc will all be well into their 30's or nearing it. -
Until CHO is healthy it will be Pulisic on the RW, and Willian on the left, withe Pedro as the sub at either (or Pedro LW and Pulisic RW with Willian as the sub). Could be rough waters ahead. Dog help us if Puli doesn't hit the ground running.

We have to see who our new manager is and what formations they favour.

The Daily Telegraph, as quoted by The Sun, is reporting that the west London club are preparing to hold on to the French defender following his return from his two-season loan spell at Everton. According to the same story. the Toffees would dearly love to sign Zouma on a permanent deal this summer, but the Blues look set to hold on to the centre-half. snip

Omfg!!!! What the fuck. We are cursed. I really am worried about finishing in top 7 and getting any Euro place. Our young future is being taken out for significant periods right before our eyes.

she did very well on the Hazard deal for it being a 1 year-left-on-contract deal BUT she is far FAR FAR from off the hook overall, so so many more misses than hits I will never be gaslit into saying she is brilliant she was already in a pure power position when all the 2014 and onward rot took place, the horrific sales, the horrid buys, the utterly botched attempted buys, the fucking rule-breaking lawlessness that is flaying us alive atm (bans)

Chelsea banned for TWO transfer windows
Vesper replied to xPetrCechx's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
I have been saying all along that I am sure we are worried about the bans being extended to 3 or even 4 windows. My father's barrister friend (and a massive Blues supporter) told me the this the last time I was back in London, months ago. He always laughs when I go on transfer tirades, but this time said I probably wont have to worry about this summer. -

Château de Béthusy, Avenue de Beaumont 2, 1012 Lausanne, Switzerland. [email protected]; Tel: (41 21) 613 50 00; fax: (41 21) 613 50 01, or consult the CAS website: www.tas-cas.org FOOTBALL THE COURT OF ARBITRATION FOR SPORT (CAS) REGISTERS THE APPEAL FILED BY CHELSEA FOOTBALL CLUB Lausanne, 7 June 2019 – The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has registered an appeal filed by Chelsea Football Club Ltd (CFC) against the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). The appeal is directed against the FIFA Appeal Committee decision dated 11 April 2019 in which CFC was declared liable for violations of the FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players and banned from registering new players, nationally and internationally, for two entire and consecutive registration periods, fined CHF 600,000, issued with a reprimand and warned on its future conduct. Generally speaking, CAS appeal arbitration procedures involve an exchange of written submissions between the parties while a Panel of CAS arbitrators is being convened to hear the appeal. Once the Panel has been formally constituted it issues procedural directions, including, inter alia, with respect to the holding of a hearing. Following the hearing, if one is held (a CAS Panel may also issue a decision based only on the parties’ written submissions), the Panel deliberates and then issues its decision in the form of an Arbitral Award. It is not possible to say at this time when the Arbitral Award will be issued. CAS will not provide any further information in relation to this procedure, except to issue a Media Release announcing the Panel’s decision. -
