Deffo not a sending off, Elliot landed wrong, carbon copy tackle moments later and nothing said about that. Should have played out 11 V 11.

'He really has the balls!' - Chelsea boss Tuchel reacts to Van Gaal's passionate tirade at Dutch journalist https://www.goal.com/en/news/he-really-has-the-balls-Chelsea-boss-tuchel-reacts-to-van/14hajf4ou9vry11cnoi7z0rtev The Blues boss was pleased to hear the Netherlands coach come to his defence over the team's style of play Thomas Tuchel has praised Louis van Gaal for having "the balls" to speak his mind after he praised the Chelsea coach during an outburst at a press conference. Van Gaal had an altercation with De Telegraaf journalist Valentijn Driessen over the nature of a three-man defence. The 70-year-old highlighted Chelsea as proof that a 3-5-2 formation does not necessarily mean a defensive approach, saying: "I take my hat off to Mr Tuchel, because he got in halfway through [the season]." What did Tuchel say? Tuchel was pleased to hear Van Gaal come to his defence and says he is an admirer of the Netherlands coach. "Somebody sent that to me. It was a pleasure to play against him as a very young coach in Germany when he was coach from Bayern Munich and he has this kind of brutal honesty when you talk to him or when he goes to the press conference, which is what I really love," Tuchel told Sky Sports. "He has really the balls to speak it out, what he thinks. Sometimes it's not to his advantage, but I think right now, it's nice to hear him talk about football. He has a certain age. He has a huge experience. He has influenced football in general with all his clubs, all his teams, on such a high level. "Not just because he defended me in person, which was nice, of course, but in general, he is not afraid to speak out. Sometimes I or other colleagues maybe think 'let's don't speak out' because we'd just create trouble and we want to protect a calm atmosphere… But he's a nice guy, I like him."

that's a cherry-pick Maldini played until 2009 and Nesta until 2014 and Baresi, a 3 time CL/EC winner and 2 time world champion, was playing in what was the toughest league on the planet for most of his career, and on some of the best teams ever in football history Thiago is a superb CB, on of the top 15 (probably top 10) in last the last 20 years, but I would take any of those 3 over him
-
superb team goal by Inter, what a driving run by Barella, and a perfect low hard cross for a Lautaro volley

insane free lick goal by Federico Dimarco

Further fleshing out my Oblak comments, here the only keepers over 33yo on the planet who are still high quality (as in could start for us IF something happened to Mendy and they were on the team) IMHO the drop off is STEEP, Buffon was a genetic freak
-
the main talk (at least from me) was about a better backup as Mendy goes to that fucking AFCON bollocks for a month or so but we are stuck with Kepa Oblak is the only remotely available keeper who is better than Mendy, and he is nearing the point were it makes zero sense to buy him, as he turns 30 years old right after the WC end next near, will cost £103m for his release clause, and will not come without a 7 year contact on £400K PW wages. At that age (or any age IMHO) he is NOT worth a quarter of a BILLION quid. the only WC keepers atm are Jan Oblak Gianluigi Donnarumma Thibaut Courtois Alisson Marc-André ter Stegen Ederson and you could make case for Edouard Mendy Another bizarre fact: ALL in bold red will be 29 years old come January 7th, and Ederson will be 29 next summer. PLUS the next one on my list, Emiliano Martínez, is 29 now too! A bit lower down the list, Nick Pope, Alphonse Areola (in February), Koen Casteels, Mattia Perin (in 8 weeks), and Leno are or soon will be 29yo as well. Neuer and Schmeichel would round out my top 10 and are coming towards the end of their peak years. 1992/93 (especially 1992) were insane years for keepers being born, of the top 8 atm, only Donnarumma was not born in either of the two. Keepers born in 1992 Keepers born in 1993

3 points 1. @Vybz Kartel is spot on about the left footedness and us playing balls to his wrong side. 2. The lad needs to hit the weight room with a strength coach. The EPL is a bully-boy league and Saul is not a regista type like Jorgi, who can dance around and avoid getting pushed off the ball. He is going to be more direct. 3. Tuchel is master technician and I have confidence he will sort him. Saul was the top tackler (number of tackles) in all of La Liga cumulatively from 2015 until he left, and that was counting his fucked up season last year, and far too many games at LB (which helped to fuck him up last season).

Villa want a minimum of £50m for him, and likely more after this season, and if you are talking a next summer buy, you start to run into resale value issues (if he doesn't work out), He turns 28 a couple months into next season, so you only get 2 sub 30yo seasons out of him. Once he hits 30, his value will start to plummet. Drinkwater was half a year younger than McGinn would be next summer, when we bought the POS, and look at him now. He turns 32 this winter's end, and his value has been shit for ages. NOT saying McGinn is anywhere near as bad as the atrocious Donkeywater btw, just using him as a comparable example age-wise.
