Who is Ramon Planes? Meet the man who signed Pedri and Araujo https://barcauniversal.com/watch-who-is-ramon-planes-meet-the-man-who-signed-pedri-and-araujo/ Ramon Planes has a deep history in Spanish football but now finds himself in an important role, as part of FC Barcelona’s sporting structure. Hired by Bartomeu, and having worked under Eric Abidal, Planes will now remain under the presidency of Joan Laporta, where he will continue to work in a crucial role surrounding Barcelona’s sporting project, alongside Mateu Alemany. Check out our full video below to gain an understanding of exactly who Ramon Planes is; including his past, his work so far at Barcelona, and whether or not his continuation is good news for Culers. The news of Planes’ survival, with Laporta’s arrival to the presidency of Barcelona, was a bit of a shock. Indeed, having been hired by Bartomeu and perhaps having been a sympathiser of Barcelona’s old board of directors, Planes could have easily been pushed aside. Clearly, Laporta and Alemany have been impressed by Planes’ work in the sporting structure of Barcelona, and have elected that he remains a part of the board. His most notable signings have been those of Ronald Araújo and Pedri, whom he scouted and acquired from obscure locations and for cheap prices, with both players turning out to be successes so far. It is Planes’ good reputation and work so far at Barça that has ensured his survival, although we shall see how he acts, and what vision he has for the future of Barcelona’s team, in the coming months.

Each competition and league (and where you finish in them all) is weighted differently. How the club coefficients are calculated https://www.uefa.com/nationalassociations/uefarankings/club/about/ HOW TO READ THE COEFFICIENTS The club coefficients are based on the results of clubs competing in the five previous seasons of the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Europa Conference League. The rankings determine the seeding of each club in relevant UEFA competition draws. The season club coefficients are based on the results of clubs competing in the current UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Europa Conference League season. The rankings, combined with those of the previous four seasons, determine the seeding for each club in all UEFA competition draws. Coefficient calculation Clubs' coefficients are determined EITHER the sum of all points won in the previous five years OR the association coefficient over the same period, whichever is the higher. These will be updated after each round of UEFA club competition matches. Club coefficient calculation The coefficient of a club is calculated by adding the total number of points it obtains in a given season in the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Europa Conference League. A club's five-season coefficient is the cumulative total of the previous five seasons' coefficients, or 20% of its association's five-season association coefficient, whichever is higher. Points awarded each season are in accordance with the relevant competition regulations for that specific season, so the following apply only to the awarding of points in the 2021/22 season. Points are awarded as follows: UEFA Champions League points 2 – All wins from group stage onwards 1 – All draws from group stage onwards 4 – Group stage bonus participation 4 – Round of 16 bonus participation 1 – Each round clubs reach from the round of 16 Points are not awarded for elimination in qualifying, since those clubs move to the UEFA Europa League and may be awarded points for participation in that competition or the UEFA Conference League. UEFA Europa League points 2 – All wins from group stage onwards (except knockout round play-offs) 1 – All draws from group stage onwards (except knockout round play-offs) 4 – Group winners 2 – Group runners-up 1 – Each round clubs reach from the round of 16 All teams are guaranteed a minimum 3 points in the UEFA Europa League group stage (not added to points actually obtained). Points are not awarded for elimination in qualifying, since those clubs move to the UEFA Europa Conference League and may be awarded points for participation in that competition. UEFA Europa Conference League points 1 – Awarded to each club eliminated in the first qualifying round 1.5 – Awarded to each club eliminated in the second qualifying round 2 – Awarded to each club eliminated in the third qualifying round 2.5 – Awarded to each club eliminated in the play-offs 2 – All wins from group stage onwards (except knockout round play-offs) 1 – All draws from group stage onwards (except knockout round play-offs) 2 – Group winners 1 – Group runners-up 1 – Each round clubs reach from the semi-finals All teams are guaranteed a minimum 2.5 points in the UEFA Europa Conference League group stage (not added to points actually obtained). Association coefficient calculation The season coefficient of an association is calculated by adding up the points obtained by all its clubs in a given season in the UEFA Champions League (UCL), UEFA Europa League (UEL) and UEFA Europa Conference League (UECL) then dividing the total by the number of clubs from that association that took part in the three UEFA club competitions in question. Points are awarded as follows: 2 – All wins from group stage (UCL, UEL, UECL) 1 – All wins in qualifying and play-off matches (UCL, UEL, UECL) 1 – All draws from group stage (UCL, UEL, UECL) 0.5 – All draws in qualifying and play-off matches (UCL, UEL, UECL) 4 – Group stage bonus participation (UCL, UEL) 4 – Round of 16 bonus participation (UCL) 4 – Group winners (UEL) 2 – Group runners-up (UEL) 2 – Group winners (UECL) 1 – Group runners-up (UECL) 1 – Each round clubs reach from the round of 16 (UCL, UEL, UECL) Additional notes Penalty shoot-outs do not count. For matches originally foreseen to be two legs (home and away) but reduced to a single leg, the calculation of coefficient points per match will be adapted as follows: Three points for a win (in regular time or extra time) Two points to each team for a draw (after extra time) One point for a loss (in regular time or extra time)

Arsenal turned down Icardi swap https://theathletic.com/3127370/2022/02/14/ornstein-man-utds-new-hire-jamaica-want-spence-referee-overhaul-liverpool-tour/?source=emp_shared_article snip Their main focus looks set to be the striker department following the departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Barcelona, while Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah have expiring contracts. It was well documented that the north London club did study solutions last month — with Dusan Vlahovic, Alexander Isak and Dominic Calvert-Lewin thought to have been their primary targets. Much rested on Aubameyang, who was also wanted by Juventus, and reports claimed that at one point Arsenal were looking into a swap that would have seen Alvaro Morata move the other way. Such ideas were not uncommon and The Athletic has learnt that Arsenal also had the opportunity to explore a potential exchange involving Paris Saint-Germain’s Argentinian forward Mauro Icardi. The 28-year-old joined the French side from Inter Milan on loan in 2019 before completing a permanent switch a year later. He has scored 38 goals in 87 appearances yet is not a regular starter unless one or more of Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi and Neymar are unavailable to play. This might have been an interesting prospect but, as with various possibilities that came Arsenal’s way, it did not develop because Arsenal were clear on the candidates they would be prepared to pursue and if none materialised they would stick with existing options until the end of the season. That proved to be the case and manager Mikel Arteta will hope his squad can finish the Premier League campaign strongly before revisiting the recruitment situation with technical director Edu.

Yes, he is a pass for me as well. He never really kicked on to truly super level after his Atalanta breakthrough.

on the only thing I can think of is that club is looking at his age he turns 29yo in 16 days so will be 30yo for last 3 months of next season that said, I think he has 3 peak seasons left + the rest of this now if the club thinks only 2 peak ones left, plus the remainder of this one, that is where it gets tricky

Escalating tensions between Russia and Ukraine wipe £500m from fortune of mining tycoon Roman Abramovich https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/markets/article-10505975/Roman-Abramovich-loses-500m-Ukraine-war-fears.html

because IF Russia invades Ukraine NATO, IK, USA will retaliate in truly staggering financial ways, including going after all Putin-linked oligarchs' assets in the West, and Abramovich is near the top of the list plus, as a shedload of his money is tied up in Russian banks, he will be fucked in terms of transferring assets outside of Russia, as the country will be blocked by all major economic financial systems globally
