LOL, Citeh and PSG fanbois going absolutely MENTAL in rage on Twitter about how the world championship and (this is madness) the CL are basically worthless and/or distractions and the main things that count are league titles. Citeh have ONE euro trophy (52 years ago they won the Cup Winners' Cup, in 1969/70) in 143 seasons of football. PSG also have 1 (also a Cup Winner's Cup in 1996), plus they shared 1st place with Aston Villa and Troyes in the 2001 Intertoto Cup (there was no outright single winner as it was basically a qualifier for the Europa League, where they got knocked out in the 3rd round by Rangers and never scored a goal in either leg). 🤣

here is the link for you post btw https://www.joe.co.uk/sport/why-youre-going-to-hate-the-new-look-club-world-cup-316265 I have some questions 1. Will there be a FWCC in late 2022? (due to World Cup, I so doubt it.) 2. IF they push it to February 2023, will it be under the old format? Or the new format? 3. Exact same question as number 2, but make it a December 2023 tourney. 4 Your article said 2024 for the new format, so again, what about 2022 (late) and then 2023 (early 2023, so delayed like thsi year, but now delayed due to WC, not Covid) or the regular December 2023 dates)? 5. IF delayed, do we still retain the title the whole time, until the next one is played (like the World Cup winners do now, and they are moving to an every four years FWCC format, so the winners will be holders for 4 years anyway)?

That kit is so not officially confirmed though, if you look back over the years, there have been SO many fakes that so many people swore were real and confirmed.

Chelsea’s Mason Mount to have scan on right ankle after ‘hurting ligaments’ during Club World Cup final https://theathletic.com/news/chelseas-mason-mount-to-have-scan-on-right-ankle-after-hurting-ligaments-during-club-world-cup-final/FDgkLtL70tPJ/ Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount will have a scan on his right ankle after “hurting his ligaments badly” during the Club World Cup final in Abu Dhabi. Mount was forced off the pitch in the 31st minute after a Palmeiras player fell on his ankle. He was replaced by Christian Pulisic. The England international left the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium on crutches. He was seen with a bandage and strapping on his right foot during Chelsea’s post-match celebrations following their 2-1 extra-time win. Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel said: “Mason was injured, in one of the very first scenes where he made a run to the far post with Azpi. “They both fell and his opponent fell on his ankle and he hurt his ligaments badly, so we have to see. “He came straight to me and said he does not feel good, it felt painful.” Chelsea striker Kai Havertz, who also scored the Champions League winning goal, converted from the penalty spot in the 117th minute to seal a historic victory. The west London club have now won every possible trophy under owner Roman Abramovich. This is Tuchel’s third major trophy during his Chelsea reign, having won the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and now the Club World Cup. Chelsea, making only their second appearance in the final, become the third English side to be crowned champions of the tournament following Manchester United’s and Liverpool’s success in 2008 and 2019 respectively.

Antonio Rudiger says his future at Chelsea is up to club https://theathletic.com/news/antonio-rudiger-says-his-future-at-Chelsea-is-up-to-club/msAt0PKuf8jo/ Antonio Rudiger has increased the pressure on Chelsea by suggesting the club are the ones who will decide whether he stays or goes. The Chelsea defender's current deal expires at the end of the season and he has already received offers from Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain to join them as a free agent in the summer. The Athletic revealed earlier this month the Germany international is now looking for a salary in the region of £225,000-a-week to remain at Stamford Bridge. It is understood Rudiger, who is one of the lowest paid senior players in the squad right now on £90,000-a-week, had already made up his mind to leave earlier in the campaign. The 28-year-old had been offered around £140,000 to stay in August with the warning the offer wouldn’t get any better than that and he was upset by their stance. Talks stopped for months until Chelsea reached out in late December to reach a new agreement. There is a bit more positivity on both sides that something could still be finalised but Rudiger feels the hold-up so far has been caused by the club After being asked what it will take for him to stay, the centre half told The Athletic: “I feel great here, I have always said it. I think the way I play you can see that I’m happy here. But there are also other people who have to make decisions.” It is believed the Chelsea hierarchy have prioritised securing new terms with the Germany international over Andreas Christensen, who also has just over four months remaining on his contract. The hierarchy are upset Christensen walked away from two contract offers that they felt had been agreed and now has new agents negotiating from scratch. However, it is understood that not every factor of the Denmark international’s package had been given the green light. Rudiger has sparked some optimism and is willing to compromise by suggesting he wants to stay at Stamford Bridge to win the Premier League, a competition he has yet to win. Speaking after Chelsea won the FIFA Club World Cup Final by beating Palmeiras 2-1, Rudiger added: “Of course I want to win the Premier League. “Does it keep getting better and better for me at Chelsea? Yes. We had never won this trophy (FIFA Club World Cup) in Chelsea’s history before. I’m very delighted that we didn’t give up, that we did our thing. We tried everything and won. “I just want to help, I just want to be important and lead by example. This is the main thing. We all showed character against Palmeiras. None of us gave up. Thiago Silva gave away the penalty (for Palmeiras to equalise) but he didn’t lack anything. He continued and continued. And there was a great impact from the guys who came on from the bench, Hakim Ziyech, Christian Pulisic, Malang Sarr, Timo Werner and Saul Nigues. They all worked very hard. “The Premier League is the toughest competition to be honest because Manchester City set a very high standard. We have to get to a point where we can go on a long marathon.” Chelsea currently trail Pep Guardiola’s side by 16 points so are very unlikely to catch them this season. Rudiger will have to stay if he has to have a hope of winning the Premier League next year, although Manchester United are also known to be interested.

Man shot dead outside Palmeiras stadium during riot after Club World Cup final loss to Chelsea https://www.espn.co.uk/football/fifa-club-world-cup/story/4593068/man-shot-dead-outside-palmeiras-stadium-during-riot-after-club-world-cup-final-loss-to-Chelsea A man was shot dead during a riot on Saturday after trouble broke out among Palmeiras fans who had watched their team lose to Premier League club Chelsea in the final of the FIFA Club World Cup, Brazilian police said. The man, who police said was an off-duty prison guard, was shot outside Palmeiras' stadium in Sao Paulo, where thousands of fans had gathered to watch the match on big screens. "There were some outbreaks of fighting among fans, which unleashed a riot and a man was shot," a military police statement said. Riot police used tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse the crowds. One man was arrested, the statement said. Sao Paulo police investigator Cesar Saad told journalists added that 15 other fans were injured in clashes with police or in fights among themselves. Images will be analysed to identify others involved in the riots, police said. Police continued to patrol the area to prevent any new disturbances. Chelsea beat the Copa Libertadores champions 2-1 after extra time in the game in Abu Dhabi. Palmeiras were aiming to win the annual tournament for the first time and join state rivals Corinthians, Santos and Sao Paulo, all of whom have won the trophy played between the top club sides in the world.

Are Real Madrid doomed without Benzema? https://www.espn.co.uk/football/blog-espn-fc-united/story/4591677/real-madrid-cant-scoreman-united-cant-winlucky-barcelonabayern-munich-humbled-weekend-review Real Madrid were always going to suffer without Karim Benzema, but even so, their scoring struggles in the three games since he picked up a hamstring injury -- the latest being Saturday's 0-0 draw at Villarreal -- have been a painful reminder of just how much the team's chances of success this season depend on getting the forward back on the pitch as soon as possible. None of the alternatives at manager Carlo Ancelotti's disposal are capable of adequately mimicking Benzema's unique skillset. Gareth Bale was tasked with filling in at No. 9 at the Estadio La Ceramica, and he did as well as could reasonably be expected in his first league appearance in over five months. He was Madrid's biggest goal threat by some distance and was denied three times by Geronimo Rulli, including one vicious, dipping second-half shot that the keeper tipped onto the crossbar. - HIGHLIGHTS: Real Madrid, Villarreal draw 0-0 (U.S. only) Bale was later replaced by Luka Jovic, who also hit the woodwork with a deft lob in added time. Ancelotti blamed bad luck, and on another day Bale, Jovic or both could have been on the scoresheet, but the importance of Benzema's absence goes far beyond the team missing his clinical finishing. The role he plays as the fulcrum of Madrid's attack, and the space and opportunities he creates for wide players like Vinicius Junior and Marco Asensio, are every bit as vital. Benzema had better be fit enough to contribute against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday to keep Madrid on track in the Champions League, as well as helping them avoid the worst-case scenario that would genuinely jeopardise their LaLiga title push.

Chelsea four fined for drunken abuse By Alec Marsh 12:01AM BST 23 Sep 2001 https://archive.fo/c9Cy#selection-449.0-473.23 FOUR Chelsea footballers have been fined by their club for drunkenly abusing grieving Americans at a Heathrow hotel 24 hours after the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon. The incident occurred after the club's UEFA Cup match against Levski Sofia of Bulgaria was postponed as a mark of respect for the thousands killed in the bombing of the World Trade Centre and Pentagon. Some team members went on a five-hour drinking binge - culminating in their stripping naked and vomiting in public. The players, who were said to have been ejected from the third pub they had visited, shouted, laughed, threw peanuts and reportedly abused other guests. Many of the guests were Americans whose planes were grounded following the terrorist attacks two weeks ago. Following complaints, the players have been fined two weeks' wages for the incident, which took place the day after the attack on September 11. RELATED ARTICLES America on war footing 12 Sep 2001 The players involved, including the England Under-21 stars Frank Lampard, Jody Morris and John Terry, were said to have sneered and laughed at grieving relatives in the Posthouse hotel. Eidur Gudjohnsen, the 23-year-old Iceland international, was also involved in the drinking session and has been fined. The players have been fined two weeks' wages for the incident, believed to be a total of £130,000. Gwyn Williams, the assistant manager of Chelsea, confirmed this last night. "They were read the riot act and told in no uncertain terms what was expected of them," he said. "They were fined two weeks' wages and their wages have been donated to the American victims' fund. "They were told by Colin Hutchinson [the managing director of Chelsea] and Claudio Ranieri [the manager] that it was unacceptable behaviour." Two weeks' wages is the maximum amount a player can be fined by his club. A manager at Heathrow's Post House hotel said: "They were utterly disgusting. They just didn't seem to care about what had happened. He added: "We had a lot of Americans here and were simply trying to comfort them in their hour of need. Meanwhile these men were laughing and joking, taking off their clothes and abusing our guests." One witness said: "One of them was walking around laughing with everything hanging out out while on TV there were crying firemen searching for bodies. It was sick."
