  1. That team would challenge for the Eredivisie title.
  2. You seem to rate Welbeck a lot higher than me. I'd much rather have Giroud up front. He's not world-class but he's very good. Strong, great header of the ball, strong in the air (aerial duels), holds the ball well, combines well with his team mates. But he lacks pace, his movement isn't the best and he's far from clinical. That's why he's not world-class. But I think a lot people don't realise or forget his contribution to goals is very good. 39 goals and 20 assists in 77 starts (in 12-13 and 13-14). He's not good enough to be a starter for a team challenging for trophies but he's a very good 2nd option. Welbeck is a mid-table striker for me. I'd put money on him not being able to get numbers like that.
  3. Welbeck isn't better than Torres. And Giroud is better than Welbeck. He'll probably end up scoring around 10 goals. He makes a decent squad player though because of his pace, energy and work-rate.
  4. Regardless of one player being better than the other, I'd rather have a Costa type striker than a Falcao type. Costa adds a lot more to the team.
  5. Rafael - Jones - Rojo - Shaw Herrera - Blind Rooney - Mata - Di Maria Falcao - Van Persie Who needs a GK when you concede 4 goals against MK Dons anyway?
  6. Yeah Messi was always going to return to top form. He's a phenomenon. But I was talking about his physical condition. Messi used to be faster, more explosive, more agile and more energetic.
  7. Mourinho effect? Ozil has always been a lazy bastard (either that or it's a fitness issue). Fabregas has regressed physically and in terms of work-rate if anything. He was faster and more agile in his Arsenal days and he didn't tire as quickly. Probably has to with the fact that he's been playing for so long. It's the same with Messi.
  8. Welcome. The club has done very well in this transfer window so props to them. Just don't let him touch the #9 shirt, please.
  9. I disagree with him on the first Everton goal. Yes, you can look around and find someone to blame. But that was a well crafted goal, with a great cross and a fantastic header. 'Mistakes' are made for every goal in football.
  10. It's one of his weaknesses as a player. His leap is poor and his timing is off. He's not the guy to be lumping long balls too. Which is why I hope the players will soon only use long balls as a emergency option. He's made an absolute brilliant start to the season. That's key for any new player, strikers especially. Confidence is sky high, the fans have witnessed his quality and opposition teams already fear him. Now we can only hope he stays fit, keeps this up and trophies will follow.
  11. Ramires is such a strange guy. He's a poor shooter, a decent overall finisher but he's absolutely brilliant in 1 on 1 situations. His mind becomes crystal clear when it's just him and the GK. That ball was always going in, very good goal.
  12. Was hoping Costa would rip Howard's beard of his face. But that last goal was good I guess.
  13. All this time and Obi Mikel can actually SPRINT!?!? That sprint was cherry on top of this absolute bizzare match.
  14. Own fault for sitting back. Need a goal in the 2nd half.
  15. Confident the boys will show the league who's boss today.
  16. Crespo was one of the best strikers around when he was bought. Never managed to secure a starting spot. 25 goals in 49 starts isn't bad but not good enough for a player of his status and transfer fee (16,5 mil pounds was a huge amount of money back then). Maybe not a true flop but definitely not a succes. Edit: 47 starts.
  17. I brought up Gignac purely because of his goal-scoring record at Marseille. My point was, goal-scoring records aren't everything.
  18. Gignac scored 22 goals in 44 games for Marseille last season, playing in a team a lot worse than Remy did back in 2011/12. Would you want to sign him?
  19. Yeah that's true, I said the same earlier. Chelsea aren't exactly in a position of power now. So I while I would understand signing Remy, I'm not that convinced by him. Even as a back-up. If he signs, I hope I'm wrong.
  20. Demba scored goals for WHU and scored goals in the first half of 2012/2013. He's a great player for that level. I see Remy as a lesser version of Defoe. Defoe was perfect at that level right under the true top teams and he's class above Remy imo. Exactly why a Guddy level player would be perfect. Guddy was a better player than Remy in his prime imo. His technique and intelligence puts him above Remy. Still my favourite Chelsea player btw. He could and would play anywhere.
  21. I'm actually quite convinced Bony would jump at the chance of joining Chelsea. He's a confident guy and probably thinks he could take Costa on.
  22. Like Demba Ba. Isn't there a Gudjohnson reincarnation out there somewhere? He would be PERFECT.
