When the possibility of Cuadrado joining Chelsea was a mere rumour, I already thought Willian was the better player. So this is not a case of judging too quickly. He'll obviously do better with time, but not better than Willian imo. Both that added dimension and more dynamism and quality in midfield are needed. Same goes for more athleticism and quality in the backline.

Impact sub? Hazard is 24, Robben was playing for Real Madrid at 24. Hazard is a better player than Robben was at 24, that's true. Robben did extremely well to improve so much at a 'late' age. Once he broke his fragility at Bayern, he was reborn.

I agree with Choulo that he wasn't terrible. But he's just become so bland. I remember two moments, the through ball played to Remy and his own chance to score. He's doing the absolute minimum, and in that sense he is comparable to the likes of Mikel and Kalou, because that's simply not good enough. A team like Chelsea needs so much more. This Jekyll and Hyde thing he has going on when looking at his form in the first and second half of the season has to be one of the biggest misteries in football. He's a fine player until January hits...

The little engine that could. He defines industry. I will always appreciate that about his game. Cuadrado was supposed to be the superior player... people often don't realise what they have. Combined energy with tidy play, playing a crucial role in both goals. Very solid game. It's a shame Cuadrado didn't do anything with that sliced pass.

Cesc was good and has been playing well in recent games, but definitely not back to his best for me. I miss the performances where he would marvel us with his magical technique and vision. I'm still waiting for a game like that, it's been a while.

Let's just say we disagree. Modric would be a wonderful addition imo, regardless of FFP. Not that it's happening.

I didn't mean the traditional English variation, just a proper 4-4-2. Two strikers up top being key.
-
I loved the switch to 4-4-2 btw. A proper 4-4-2. I've never understood why that has never been an option. Against an opponent that is only sitting back, at home as well, I'd like to see it more.

It does not matter where he is. He's always aware and incredibly quick to react. That moment where he fed Cuadrado in the box, who failed to score with two quick attempts. I thought that was insane. Such a small amount of space. I love how the endless tackles have no effect on him at all. He does not become upset or frustrated, neither does he become intimidated. His mind remains clear and he keeps playing his game. I look forward to next season and the next step he'll take in his performance levels and overall game.

I would prefer for you to be right but I doubt it. Other goal scorers will stand up after Messi and Ronaldo. Not as good but still. And there's still the CL/World Cup factor. Kaka, Ronaldinho, Shevchenko, Zidane, Ronaldo all won their awards based on their performances in those tournaments.
-
Painful to see Drog like this. He has literally declined quite heavily during the course of the season. I can't get mad at him though. Him kicking the ball away at the end of the match was the moment of the match for me. He's never been subtle.
-
The Ballon d'Or is for goal scorers or stand out CL/World Cup players (also includes scoring goals). Hazard does not need it anyway. Just keep performing and improving, and don't leave Chelsea.
-
He's a decent player, a good player even when playing in the right circumstances. But I don't see him becoming more than a squad player. And before I get the 'he's still adapting reaction', I said this before he signed. I hope I'm wrong though.

The king is here. I love you, Hazard.

Good win. Special mentions for Willian and the Little Emperor named Eden Hazard. Another top performance from the king of the league. I enjoyed seeing Ivanovic in a far more subdued and less involved (offensively) role. Feel sad for Costa, Remy will need to step up. One step closer to the title.
-
I find his allegiance to Cahill and Ivanovic very worrying for next season. I was really hoping they would both be replaced next season.

Bellerin is a real talent. And he's another example of a young and inexperienced player coming in and being able to hold his own.

Get a life.

Gerrard deciding not to join Chelsea, fully aware of his curse, was the ultimate act of love.

Yes. I don't understand this obsession with signing only young players. A player contributing for 3, 4 years would be great as well. 3-4 years is a very long time in football. Modric has been performing at a high level since his Tottenham days. A 4 month injury won't kill him. Even better, he's already been doing well since his return. He was one of the better players on the pitch in the recent Clasico.

I can see Real dishing over €60 mil, like they did for James. If so, I would gladly take Modric, while they enjoy Kroos, Pogba, Isco and James.

Most important midfielder at Juve? That's your opinion. Best midfielder for France at the World Cup? Very possible but he was decent at best. That's just my opinion though. Pogba is one of the most talented youngsters in football. A player capable of producing some very exciting moments. But I have not seen him carry his team (over the course of a season), neither does he stand out when facing other top teams with quality midfielders. If there is one criticism I would have to pick out for him, it would be that his performances in the CL have been quite bland (not surprising, he's 21). The Serie A is not what it once was. I rate Pogba's potential very, very highly but he has not shown anything to command a fee that would make him one of the most expensive players of all time. That's the kind a fee you usually pay for a player that has been among the very best in the world for multiple years. I realise that players cost a lot more nowadays, but even in today's market that would be ridiculous. Up there with the Bale, James Rodriguez, Di Maria and Neymar transfers (it turned out Neymar cost Barca between €80 and 90 mil) in terms of insanity. €100 mil! He's not even enjoyed a season like Suarez in 13/14, Kaka in 06/07, or Ronaldo in 07/08. So yes, it would be based on potential. Paying that kind of money for potential is a dangerous game. Of course, if the club is in a position to buy Pogba for such a fee (I don't see Pogba joining btw) and still strengthen other positions in the team, I would not complain.

That's quite a claim, Emma Watson.
