  1. First thread but in all the discussion about new managers, maybe what the club needs is someone to replace Michael Emenalo and develop a cohesive footballing identity that unifies youth development, transfer dealings and coaching hires because at the moment, we don't have that. It's nothing personal with the guy but Roman seems to have a blind spot when it comes to this role hiring people who are seemingly completely unqualified and poorly regarded in the world of football with first Avram Grant and now this chap. Rather than hiring men of vision and experience, they seem to be chancers or 'yes-men' whereas maybe we need a more resilient buffer between owner and coaching staff so we don't become the 'rich man's plaything' that some rival fans have long described us as. When City were taken over, the owner put footballing men in charge, gave them the resources they needed and took a step back. Whilst it's brilliant having such a passionate owner and he deserves our thanks for many things, maybe he isn't the best architect for a long-term footballing dynasty that survives managerial changes in the mould of Barcelona or Bayern Munich. Maybe he needs to let someone who knows what they're doing have the freedom to do that, much like he allowed the architects to design the new stadium. For the first time I think a Director of Football or Technical Director might be the most important hire we could possibly make because otherwise we'll simply repeat the same cycle.
  2. Maybe not you but there are clearly members on the wind up with this Emenalo shit. They don't like him but they know it'll get the backs up of most Chelsea supporters who think the guy is part of the problem at THEIR club. If we want to follow the Barca model, this makes more sense than hiring Pep to do so. Install Hiddink as technical director and build a new philosophy of football. It'll take time, patience and a commitment to something new (which reduces the chances of it happening immediately) but it would be a long-term plan.
  3. Except the money does seem to be there. The TV rights and sponsorship have gone through the roof yet we didn't seem to go for it in the summer. You might be happy with just competing but that's not the attitude we should have as a 'big' club. We should be looking to be the best we can be and you can call people chequebook fans even though you know nothing about them because they'll just laugh at you, but the expectations at this club are very high. Yet the board didn't back the coach in the summer. That's the minimum we should be expecting, no?
  4. None of that changes the fact that we conceded the title in the summer when we allowed our rivals to strengthen without attempting to match them and even selling them key assets in Cech's case. You can't are for progress and then not back it up with money. But I'm sorry you're getting fed up of fans like me. That makes me awfully sad this close to Christmas. Can we not make up?
  5. Ferguson also spent a fuckload of money spent on his team by a brilliant chief exec. You may well get what you wish for but its not just a case of changing the manager and setting our targets low, but creating a brand new philosophy. Spurs is a completely different world though. The level of expectation is a world away from our club so of course there's more freedom in that job. He's done a fine job no doubt but there's not a manager who could come in and expect similar here.
  6. Cheque book fan? I use a credit card to pay for my season tickets but....wait, I see what you've done there. That's more like it. We spend one third of what Cityy did in the summer and didn't make any world class additions to the squad. Any pundit will tell you that's not good enough to retain the league, even you say that. I'm not asking for a specific amount simply a show of ambition and competence in our summer purchases. Now try not to use insults because we're all Chelsea supporters aren't we?
  7. He was hired to coach the players. The guy in your avatar was hired to develop a cohesive strategy for the club and acquire players, so it's weird you'd pipe up in the Papy Djidyouseetheassonher thread. Fact is you've only got that picture there to wum a few fellow Chelsea supporters, which probably says a lot about your relationship with them. Unless of course you'd like to defend the club's level of ambition over the summer months. By the way, Papy update. He was spotted in London zoo, staring at the panda enclosure writing haikus about a cage of loneliness. Then nandos with Mike.
  8. It's a stressful time and people say things they don't mean, like when you called the fans at the match on Saturday 'plastic'. You didn't mean to call them that now did you? People will forgive you so why not afford others that same courtesy?
  9. Residents of what? Chelsea? The borough? Most people at the Bridge travel in from all around the country. But what I've seen is people slag them off, question their mentality, question their right to voice their disproval and not once have I said anything about their nationality. We have great international fans and have done ever since I've been going. For me it's not about that so don't go trying to make out it is. Let's see your posts where you've defended supporters from people slagged off on here. I've done it.
  10. Fair enough. I disagree still but I see what you're saying. You have to bear in mind the guy is a born competitor and a born winner. That's why he's had such success consistently across his career. You're expecting him to change his nature now and not get off the mat which is holding him to an impossible standard. You can't celebrate the guy for that one minute and then disparage him the next because we decided to sack him. He was never going to slink off into retirement and there are maybe 3 jobs in the world that he could realistically be expected to take (Portugal, United, Real Madrid, maybe and Italian team....and that's it?).
  11. That's some victimhood complex you've got going on if you're looking for ways to be offended. Not sure what it's got to do with foreign fans either, if anything it was a dig at people who don't know the history of the club but even then you'd probably pull a muscle trying to look for offence. Everyone seems to be on tenterhooks looking for something to be upset about, unless it's the fans at the game in which case you can call them deluded, insane or a fucking disgrace apparently. Funny old time.
  12. I edited my post so I wasn't sure who you were referring to at first. But yes, totally.
  13. Honestly, I don't know who you and your friend think I am and I don't know whether to be flattered or insulted but I'm not he/she.
  14. Don't let it get to you mate. It's the response these guys want which is weird because it's not usual to want to wind up fellow Chelsea supporters. Or maybe I'm wrong and they'll all start an Emenalo chant in Brogans before Watford....that would be truly hilarious.
  15. Cech is one of us - we let him go to a rival but do you want to call him a wanker? Lamps is one of us - we let him go to a rival but do you want to call him a wanker? Mourinho is one of us - we let him go. There are precious few jobs around for a man of his calibre so do you want to call him a wanker for choosing one where he'll get the backing of the board? Come on mate. Passions are running high but you don't mean it when you call him a wanker do you?
  16. The vast majority of people I've spoken to have said the same and they're usually the first to slag us off. It's very easy to support a team when it's winning but when things get tough, that's where the real support is to be found and they made their voices heard not just at the weekend but in the weeks before when they made it clear they supported the manager. Still think Durham is a twat though. Just saw that you got into with that MrExcalibur guy during the match on Saturday because he called our fans a fucking disgrace. Fair play mate.
  17. I don't hold this place or any posters in disdain. You seem to deride certain types of fans as having 'insane' or 'irrational' reactions quite easily though whilst not really putting your money where your mouth is. That's bound to get some people's backs up. But it's interesting to see outsiders' views and you're certainly not only with those views so I would encourage you to keep making them just as I'm sure you'll encourage us to keep making our voices heard.
  18. Plays a lot of Fifa, goes for a cheeky nandos with Michael Emenalo. He's just got into The Witcher on ps4. He likes to wear a cape when he plays it.
  19. So would you want Steve Holland as coach because your assessment suggests he's changed things quite a bit in a few days?
  20. Did Jose get his transfer targets this summer? Did he want Papy Djilobootie?
  21. By what about the growth of Hazard under Jose? Does that not count for some reason I'm unaware of?
  22. Was this before Emenalo introduced him to Djilobaguette? I'm sure that changed his mind and he was booking his hotel for the CL final.
  23. With all this support for Emenalo, I reckon here might be a chant for him against Watford. You guys start it and I'll join in.
  24. That's ok. Apparently he can only last 3 (but wins the league in his 2nd),
  25. It's only insulting if you're looking to be insulted and want to misconstrue what I said. I compared their appointments, not their character, playing styles or anything else. And yes I agree he's a natural leader, but I asked if he was coaching material. There have been many great leaders throughout our history and football in general but coaching requires more than that. But thank you for explaining that Drogba is proper Chels. It's not like there's a banner pointing that out to me directly in front of my seats.
