We're going to have to come to terms that someone who's a regular will be sold to balance the book along with a few prospects. If Hall's move isn't set in stone, this will happen sooner than we'd hope.

A saying that is often misused but suits him to the ground: he's a player who looks beyond his years. The composure for his second goal is something I'd be slightly surprised to see Nkunku do, let alone someone of his age. Among the U21's in Europe, he's second only to Bellingham with the most goal contributions. Palmer and Gusto seem like the only smart signings under Todd & Co's ownership.

Bastoni would have been far cheaper than Fofana, too. I have no idea why we're insistent on buying players from those in the EPL, as most are largely overpriced, with much better value being available elsewhere on the continent.
-
If he's so set on going back to Brazil, we haven't got much choice.
-
I'm just unsure we can rely on him to play a big part of the field, and I'd imagine he wants to be playing regularly in his final year(s).

Two wins on the bounce. Big win regardless of the opposition. Onto cup duty now.
-
They have one real avenue of scoring - crosses. We haven't learnt a thing during the match.
-
Cross after cross. It's honestly shameful that we're hanging on to once was a THREE goal lead.
-
I was literally just about it say, "Our former player will score at some point" after his shot a few moments ago. The difference between this match and others is we have taken our chances for once.
-
We are so susceptible to crosses. On another day, Luton could have a scored 3+.
-
VAR to the rescue. It would be nice to get a cleansheet as well.
-
Palmer is that guy. The composure On the way to win our first early KO since 2021. That's crazy, tbh.

Madueke making the most of his opportunity. That's how you do it.

I think Lacazette's issue was more to do with how Arsenal were set up. Jesus has exactly lit things up over there with talk of another CF being a high priority for them. A few people mentioned Mitrovic, who was a decent shout before going abroad. Another name that came to mind was Awoniyi, but there are a number of issues that would likely work against the idea (AFCON being a major one).

That's the standard we're after now? Thank you for correcting me. The relevancy is that the calibre of player we should be after mightn't be what it once was under Mourinho or Conte, but we shouldn't be after players that are many levels below (IMO), with any sustainable room for improvement being unlikely. He isn't a Ba/Giroud sort of target who already knows the league. Broja, Fofana, Jackson, Washington, and throw in another CF that won't do much because he's cheap. Haven't we already seen what happens when we just throw money about for any standard of player, resulting in our current predicament? As for suggestions, I've mentioned Muriel for the past four or five windows (alongside Osimhen) would be an ideal option, especially considering the style of player we're trying to play/implement or even enquire about Lacazette, whose contract expires next summer & knows the league. Suggestions aside, I still think we need to buy a CF that isn't another gamble or just here to make up the numbers for a few months.

I personally find it hard to take much stock in what he did at Celtic, aside from his ability to improve the players at his disposal. Neil Lennon did a similar job at Celtic in the league & had better success in Europe. It's a results business at the end of the day. We'll see if he can lift this side to another level within the next 12 months or fall by the waste side like better managers have done in the past.

Show me his European competition experience - Serhou Guirassy - Stats by competition | Transfermarkt 🤔 He reminds me exactly of Modeste. How did he fair at Blackburn, btw? 28–33 might be the prime years for a striker of note rather than someone who's just finding some form (hit double figures only three times in his entire career). There is no risk of having more deadwood lying around if he doesn't fare better than what we already have.... That's precisely the problem right there.

We need to sell before making any notable signings going by reports. It's quite sad to think how much we've spent in less than two years and still have gapping holes throughout our squad.
-
I was going to comment on a recent post you made about him; he's a player that might have a future further up the pitch, but he certainly doesn't have the ability to defend at this level. At some point, Poch is going to have to realise (if he remains) that we don't have the personnel to fit whatever he's looking forward AND get results.

Is Maatsen not an LB by trade?
-
It was odd seeing him celebrate with such passion considering they were down by 4. I'm certainly not dismissing the work he's done so far with lesser players or players hampered by injuries. However, by the same token, he's showing naivety at this level by not changing his setup when it's clearly not working. There's a time to adapt rather than get wipped for ninety minutes. The fact that you're comparing him to managers who won a fair bit before coming to the EPL is questionable in itself. What might work for the Socceroos or Celtic won't fly in the Premiership or CL.
-
Ange's stubbornness is something else. Brighton could easily be up by double figures considering how easy it's been for them to bypass Spurs' defence.
-
He's almost 28 and has never played European football. Form is temporary. Osimhen would join us in a heartbeat. The issue is getting a deal done, which will probably be even harder considering his recent extension. We are literally stockpiling talent at this point. Money going down the drain for fun.
-
I totally forgot we have Fofana too. These signings need to stop.
-
There's more about him not being up to scratch in the match thread. Funny for a player who's hardly been given a look in. We an live in hope Osimhen will be that player come next season.
