  1. We are so susceptible to crosses. On another day, Luton could have a scored 3+.
  2. VAR to the rescue. It would be nice to get a cleansheet as well.
  3. Palmer is that guy. The composure On the way to win our first early KO since 2021. That's crazy, tbh.
  4. Madueke making the most of his opportunity. That's how you do it.
  5. I think Lacazette's issue was more to do with how Arsenal were set up. Jesus has exactly lit things up over there with talk of another CF being a high priority for them. A few people mentioned Mitrovic, who was a decent shout before going abroad. Another name that came to mind was Awoniyi, but there are a number of issues that would likely work against the idea (AFCON being a major one).
  6. That's the standard we're after now? Thank you for correcting me. The relevancy is that the calibre of player we should be after mightn't be what it once was under Mourinho or Conte, but we shouldn't be after players that are many levels below (IMO), with any sustainable room for improvement being unlikely. He isn't a Ba/Giroud sort of target who already knows the league. Broja, Fofana, Jackson, Washington, and throw in another CF that won't do much because he's cheap. Haven't we already seen what happens when we just throw money about for any standard of player, resulting in our current predicament? As for suggestions, I've mentioned Muriel for the past four or five windows (alongside Osimhen) would be an ideal option, especially considering the style of player we're trying to play/implement or even enquire about Lacazette, whose contract expires next summer & knows the league. Suggestions aside, I still think we need to buy a CF that isn't another gamble or just here to make up the numbers for a few months.
  7. I personally find it hard to take much stock in what he did at Celtic, aside from his ability to improve the players at his disposal. Neil Lennon did a similar job at Celtic in the league & had better success in Europe. It's a results business at the end of the day. We'll see if he can lift this side to another level within the next 12 months or fall by the waste side like better managers have done in the past.
  8. Show me his European competition experience - Serhou Guirassy - Stats by competition | Transfermarkt 🤔 He reminds me exactly of Modeste. How did he fair at Blackburn, btw? 28–33 might be the prime years for a striker of note rather than someone who's just finding some form (hit double figures only three times in his entire career). There is no risk of having more deadwood lying around if he doesn't fare better than what we already have.... That's precisely the problem right there.
  9. We need to sell before making any notable signings going by reports. It's quite sad to think how much we've spent in less than two years and still have gapping holes throughout our squad.
  10. I was going to comment on a recent post you made about him; he's a player that might have a future further up the pitch, but he certainly doesn't have the ability to defend at this level. At some point, Poch is going to have to realise (if he remains) that we don't have the personnel to fit whatever he's looking forward AND get results.
  11. It was odd seeing him celebrate with such passion considering they were down by 4. I'm certainly not dismissing the work he's done so far with lesser players or players hampered by injuries. However, by the same token, he's showing naivety at this level by not changing his setup when it's clearly not working. There's a time to adapt rather than get wipped for ninety minutes. The fact that you're comparing him to managers who won a fair bit before coming to the EPL is questionable in itself. What might work for the Socceroos or Celtic won't fly in the Premiership or CL.
  12. Ange's stubbornness is something else. Brighton could easily be up by double figures considering how easy it's been for them to bypass Spurs' defence.
  13. He's almost 28 and has never played European football. Form is temporary. Osimhen would join us in a heartbeat. The issue is getting a deal done, which will probably be even harder considering his recent extension. We are literally stockpiling talent at this point. Money going down the drain for fun.
  14. I totally forgot we have Fofana too. These signings need to stop.
  15. There's more about him not being up to scratch in the match thread. Funny for a player who's hardly been given a look in. We an live in hope Osimhen will be that player come next season.
  16. Do we really need another stop-gap? Muriel was almost the perfect signing for us a few windows ago to fill that void. The club thought it was smart to spend a hefty fee on Jackson, who looks like someone with potential who won't meet the grade here. We're at a point where we need top-level players to help with the inconsistency within our youthful squad.
  17. I stated first two for a reason. One has been forgotten, and the other has been a running joke for his club despite his price tag. Madueke wasn't part of the quote, so.... Just look at my post a page or two back to see where I believe our exceptions are compared to a side that were CWC holders - Are we a PL winner or, arguably, a CL-calibre side, probably not. However, we are far from the midtable fodder that Poch is slowly turning us into. If you believe we're tenth place or below standard, fair enough.
  18. How does that have any relevance? Average players (in the case of the first two) didn't become world beaters because they won a CL medal. What are both up to now? I'm honestly starting to wonder if people know where most of our players have come from. These aren't players who been promoted from the second tier or such. Nothing more than a cop out excuses to mask over Poch's consistent selection mistakes.
  19. How many players have we bought since within the past 12 months? There's been drastic changes within that time.
  20. It only works if the person being asked to do the job is up to the task. If you think Colwill is doing an adequate job, this convo should end immediately. I've not once said I have an issue with CB's or FB's playing in different positions; my complaint is the personal choices. A brief look up at the positions Maatsen has played: Ian Maatsen - Player profile 23/24 | Transfermarkt . Your support for Poch is admirable, despite him making the same mistakes week in, week out. Are we a PL winner or, arguably, a CL-calibre side, probably not. However, we are far from the midtable fodder that Poch is slowly turning us into. We bought Nkunku and are heavily linked with Osimhen. I wouldn't say they're gone, just not a regular.
  21. Or our manager is crap. He doesn't know what he's doing, and that's clear for all to see with his insistence on playing Colwill out of position. Our match winner probably wouldn't have even been on the bench were it not for the suspensions.
  22. You realise there's a quote feature, btw? We might have looked better with an extra defender, however, we shouldn't be lining up defensively against Palace, full stop.
  23. Injured, disciplinary issues, and Poch isn't a big fan either. He certainly deserves a start against Luton.
  24. Madueke has changed the game! Maatsen was favoured ahead of him!?
