Sarri goes to a top european club, stays for a year. gets replaced with a rookie manager. Twice.
-
We're not signing Dunk. He's too slow to play in a high line or he would require protection which he will not get. Rudiger and Zouma have to regularly cover for other players. We're looking for CBs who can defend on their own when they are exposed, as they often are in Lampard's system. Signing Dunk would defy the whole purpose.
-
It looks to me like this Juventus team and Sarri need some reinforcements. An excellent Regista in Jorginho to control the tempo and play quick passes and a ball playing PK specialist in Kepa would do them wonders.
-
Around £50m would be close to the fee United paid for AWB which is a fairer valuation by the standards of the PL market. But it's still very expensive. I wouldn't mind us paying that if we didn't have to sign a CB and GK on top of Chilwell. Rice and GK(Preferably Onana) for me should be the priority.

I don't expect Lampard to get the sack anytime soon. I'm sure he was promised at least 3 years when he first signed. We've had success changing managers every 1-2 years but stability can be a good thing. Players like Ziyech or Werner admitted he was a big reason they wanted to join. I'm sure Havertz feels the same way. Players want to have a clear vision of the project of the club before they can commit. Those who are already here know they have to convince the manager and show him respect if they know he will still be here beyond one season. The manager in return gets time to implement his ideas and build a team suited to his philosophy. Then If it doesn't work out, look for a better manager if available.

I think Nizaar reported West Ham wouldn't accept any offer including Barkley or Michy.

As I said earlier it's a really weak market for LBs. There are no obvious affordable targets available which is why I think it would be a waste to spend big money there. I'm a big fan of Theo, I remember watching him at Alaves and thinking he was absolutely WC. He was available last summer but we had the transfer ban and I don't know if we would have been interested. Now It's unlikely Milan is willing to sell. Remember Romagnoli? According to Marca and that spanish Sky reporter we tried to get Reguilon on loan but Real prefers permanent transfer. Loan w/ option would be ideal. I mean I like him but he's a bigger risk than Chilwell if you ignore the price(Impossible, I know). We could end up yet again with another 25M LB we'll be looking to offload in 2 years time if it doesn't work out. You add a good GK and CB to this team and we'll already look much better. We should be focusing on those. Then if we can offload Emerson, I'll take Reguilon or someone else on the cheap with good resale value.
-
I know but I'd rather have that than a LB who can't defend. With the departure of Willian all of our options on the wings don't offer much in terms of defensive output (Pulisic,CHO,Ziyech,Werner) bar Mount if you play him there and we're on the verge of adding another defensive passenger in Havertz. Whoever we sign to play LB will have to be good defensively.
-
He's definitely right footed, but feels comfortable enough to use his left quite frequentely. It's impressive. I'll be gutted if we don't get him.
-
He reads the game very well for his age. And he's not even at his peak physically. I'm really curious to see how he develops in 2 years time. Huge prospect. I wish our club would sign some hidden gems like that.

Chilwell is good. Not great but he's definitely an upgrade on Alonso. The problem is the price. My other issue with signing Chilwell is that despite being an upgrade he's not that big of an upgrade but the market for LBs is really weak. The idea of signing him even for a fee close to 60m was more or less acceptable when we thought LB should be the priority. Now I think the priority shifted to GK and CB. We could definitely manage another year of Alonso/Azpi at LB but the idea of playing again with the same set of CB and Kepa is terrifying. Keep the cost for the LB position at a minimum and focus on CB/GK IMO. I think it could explain why the club tried to sign Reguilon on loan.
-
He's better than all our CBs. I doubt they will sell him as he just arrived to Leverkusen but we should keep an eye on him until he becomes available. Lazy comparision but he reminds me of Koulibaly.
-
Tapsoba is so good.
-
He's very good with the ball, definitely one of his strengths. If you think Kepa is good with his feet(he's not), Onana is Ederson.
-
I wouldn't be surprised to see Willian in a good shape in 3 years time. Great athlete and seem very disciplined. Family man, healthy food, good sleep etc.. Players like him can play at a very good level until they're 35. Obviously nothing is guaranteed but if I had to give a 31 yo player a 3 year contract he would be on my list. It's a decent signing for Arsenal IMO. He's a short term option but they would be able to bring in someone else in a different position. Or knowing Arsenal it's possible this is the only way they could've signed anyone at all. Free or on loan.
-
I hesitated to include Lodi because I think they're about the same level. Only difference being that Lodi is more protected in Simeone's system than Reguilon is in Lopetegui's. Marcelo yes maybe but like you said yourself he was never good defensively and his brilliance is still visible despite the age. I reckon he will still be good for RM or playing LWB for a club like Inter. Gaya I don't rate very highly tbh and other clubs probably feel the same way seeing as he's still in Valencia. Mendy and Alba for me are currently better. They can both hold their own on defense even when isolated. I'm very familiar with Bensebaini but I don't think he would be a good choice. Great athlete but very reckless and suspect positionally. Not the most technically gifted either. He often switched between fullback and CB throughout his carreer and finally settled at LB last season under Julien Stephan. He's been in constant progression ever since. He scored goals on set-pieces this season so his stats are looking good.
-
The best LB in spain is a bit of a stretch. Mendy, Alba or in-form Marcelo are better. I don't know how he looks on YT but defensively he's only decent. He's no Azpilicueta if that's what people are thinking, but his mentality is top notch and he works hard. Offensively he offers pace, dribbling, overlapping but his crosses are poor and he rarely scores. It's difficult to imagine him having stats similar to Robertson or even Alonso. But he's still relatively young with room to improve. Honestly I would still take Chilwell over him but he's way way overpriced. For the rumoured fees, Reguilon is a no brainer for me. but in terms of talent I always felt Theo and Hakimi were the better prospects. 25 M seems about right for me.
-
Offloading players is not as easy you think, especially with the wages we're paying them. We'll be lucky to get rid of 1. Emerson is the likeliest to depart. Still young, surprisingly in demand before the covid situation and the coach doesn't trust him one bit.

I don't know how much Fulham paid for Hector but he was definitely worth every penny. Was very good tonight.

Chelsea keeping tabs on Reguilon Chelsea have joined the race to sign Sergio Reguilon from Real Madrid. The left-back spent the 2019/20 season on loan at Sevilla, who would like to extend his stay at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan for another year. However, the 23-year-old has suitors from across Europe, including clubs from the Bundesliga and Serie A. The argument to stay in Seville is a strong one for Reguilon, who owes a lot of his development as a player to Julen Lopetegui. The Spaniard broke through into the Real Madrid first team under Lopetegui, who is now his boss at Sevilla too. If he were to move to Stamford Bridge this summer, Reguilon would join Marcos Alonso as another Real Madrid academy graduate at the club. Furthermore, Chelsea wouldn't shut the door on a possible return to Los Blancos for Reguilon in the future.
-
Reguilon for a third of Chilwell's price is a big yes for me. I feel he's a better option than Tagliafico. Use the rest of the money to buy Rice.
-
I totally understand the decision not to offer him a 3 year deal especially considering his age but the disrespect towards him is unjustified. One of our best players this season and one of our most important players since his arrival.
-
My biggest worry is how there are 2 muscles injuries when we had a full week to prepare. Not the first time this has happened this season. Something seriously wrong with the training sessions.
-
You need a mobile striker to play in this shape. It just isn't working ATM.

Abraham for Giroud please.
