  1. I watch plenty of Ligue 1. He's still the best CB in the league. He's fast enough to play in a high line despite his age but I would have one of Zouma/Rudiger/Tomori playing next to him and do the running if possible. PSG have the ball at all times so his runs over there are limited. Things will be different in the PL IMO. I don't think I need to go into the other aspects of his game. Unless his body can't keep up anymore which isn't the case at the moment, he's very much world class. He will be a big loss for them. If he signs here, I'm really hoping Tomori stays. He would learn so much playing next to him.
  2. I like the idea of Thiago for a year or two. On top of being an amazing player, he's also an excellent mentor for young players. This squad needs some more leadership and experience at the high level. We're probably going to have to offload one of our current CBs though.
  3. Yes, they did. It was Michy's first season at OM. He played mostly as an impact sub though. Gignac was the starter at the time.
  4. Not only that, but a well-informed spanish journalist revealed at the time that Pepe Reina was the one who recommended him to Sarri having played together in the NT. Fits in with his demands of "ball playing GK" as well. Kepa was 100% Sarri.
  5. Ndidi is not very comfortable on the ball especially when pressed. Teams often target him. Camavinga on the other hand can dribble his way out of trouble. Great prospect, definitely Real bound. Also I'm a bit late but I don't think Pogba is overrated at all. Bruno Fernandes though I can't stand. United fans think he's ballon d'or material because he can dive and score penalties. Some of them genuinely believe he's better or more important than Pogba.
  6. Journalists are only as good as their source. If the clubs want the negotiations to remain private until it's resolved. They could decide not to let any information filter out. Or not allow the journalists to publish any information until it's done. It's possible they're not being briefed at all or they're being asked to hold on to the information until later. Generally the public only gets the information way after the event. Leaks can sometimes lead to deals being disrupted.
  7. He had the big injury at the start of his second season. He was never the same since. He was already done by the time Liverpool wanted him. Of course he still produced even post-injury but he was no longer a world class talent and he kept picking up injuries.
  8. Fekir was the most talented player Lyon produced since Benzema. Injuries ruined him. Fekir's first season and pre-injury was close to Hazard's level at Lille.
  9. Marina wouldn't pay more than 80mil euros for Havertz. She sure isn't going to pay more than that for Chilwell. Sky reported before that Leicester softened their stance on their initial asking price. People are just speculating. We don't even know if the info that came out today is real.
  10. He agreed a new contact recentely just like Werner the season before. It includes a release clause which will be active next summer for about 42m euros. Totally expecting Bayern to snap him up. Clubs could have signed him this summer for 60m(old release clause) but I guess everyone passed up on him or they thought it was too expensive.
  11. 11 fouls for Leipzig in the first half. One thing Lamps should consider is to use tactical fouling more if he's so intent on attacking football and leaving the defense exposed.
  12. I think Chilwell remains the main target. We're definitely interested in Reguilon but he's not the priority. Realistically though, we will not get Chilwell and will lose other good options like Reguilon in the process, which is definitely a concern. The other stumbling block is that we first have to resolve the Havertz's transfer to see where we're at in terms of finance, and then also sell one of Emerson/Alonso to make room for any incoming LB. If we buy Reguilon now and try to sell them later in the window, we will be in a very bad negotiating position. I read everywhere that teams will be waiting until the last days of the transfer window to get players on the cheap.
  13. Napoli trying to get the deal done as soon as possible to get ahead of the competition from PL, mainly Chelsea. Personal terms agreement reached with the player.
  14. Oh, I thought you generated every game in which he played at CB. My bad. I thought he played very well in that game btw. He's very interesting as a CB option. My only worry is that he's not as dominant in the air as we would like him to be. He's agressive but his presence alone is not enough. You need to play someone else next to him who is at least equally as good in the air. Otherwise I think he has all the tools to be a great CB.
  15. @Vesper They're definitely wrong. He played a few games at CB this season. Off the top of my head I remember watching WHU Wolves and he played there next to Diop.
  16. PL teams are something else. In which world is £50m a laughable offer?
  17. He always looks like that. Will be the same if he comes here. He's similar to Ozil in that aspect and people will use it against him when things go wrong. "Lazy" "Uninterested" etc...
  18. It takes time to implement good pressing. Klopp and Guardiola have been at Liverpool/City for a long time now. Also it doesn't help that we keep changing line-ups and formations. For instance it was very difficult to press well in 3-4-3 with Giroud upfront.
  19. Diego Carlos is good but he will not come cheap. He only recentely joined Sevilla and Nantes(his former club) gets a percentage from any potential sale. 50m will be the minimum.
  20. The discussion probably deserves it's own thread, but personally I don't think it's that easy to designate the "best team in the world" especially over a long period. For starters, not every candidate for that title plays in the same league so it's difficult to judge them fairly. Obviously there's the UCL but it's a single elimination format so it's impossible to have concluding results. And even if the candidates somehow came to play in a league of their own, there's always some unpredictable factors like the fitness of the players, injuries, refereeing etc.. In recent memory, the only team I could confidently call the "best team in the world" was Pep's Barça because they were so ridiculously good that the gap between them and their peers was too big. Everyone else was debatable IMO. Everyone have their diferent criterias to designate a winner so it's really difficult to come up with an objective answer that will satisfy everyone.
  21. Definitely a better option than Norwich but I doubt he will be guaranteed minutes there. Also it remains to be seen where he will be playing. DM would be my guess.
  22. Chelsea are reported to be ready to give the green light for the highly-rated youngster Ethan Ampadu to head to Norwich on loan, who have been relegated to the Championship, in a bid to secure more game time following a frustrating loan deal to RB Leipzig (via@WalesOnline) Going from playing UCL to playing in the Championship is frustrating but he really needs to play regularly.
