Valencia are asking for a price, so although they're standing firm on him, they're attracting interest at the same time. I don't think Arsenal will sign him, even though they've sold Fabregas to Barcelona because they've been able to negotiate a buy back clause in his contract, which I think is stupid, while Man City have absolutely NO room for another winger. I would be VERY suprised if they moved for him.

So that leaves us! I reckon that if this £35m + Kalou + Malouda deal for Modric is true, then Juan Mata is the player we desperately need to replace them both. If we sign Mata and Modric, then we will definitely have a stronghold in the premier league race!

I'll explain why I think this would be a dreams signing.

Our front 3 would be

Mata - Torres - Sturridge

Sturridge would be an inside forward similar to Robben while Mata would be able to either stay on the wing or cut inside looking for a pass and allowing A.Cole to go forward. With Modric in our midfield trio play would be much more organized and better engineered. Torres would get some nice (football) balls from Mata and Modric, our fullbacks would also send crosses in and we would be also dangerous with Sturridge cutting inside looking to shoot.

Compare that to Anelkalouda on the wings and give it a thought.

Would be a nice signing to make for sure. If we have made an initial offer then the figures being mentioned are not terrible and i would think a deal could be concluded. Again this is exactly the type of player we are crying out for.
