Pep has been managing for season or two longer than AVB. But that means nothing anyway, because AVB is better than Pep in every aspect.

I don't know. I didn't watch him enough... But anyway, I won't argue about his potential. The thing is that Pep has coached the best team in the world, won two UCL, he is coaching some of the best players in the world, and certainly some big egos. i mean, I believe it will be better if he gets two or three more years of experience before joining us... At least, one year of UCL. Not that I doubt of his abilities, just that I think it could only be better for both him and us.

Thats why this is bullshit. Hiddink is a 64 years old man, he knows what he wants, its not the same case it was with Lukaku: a club trying to sign a teenager. He has a contract, but he can quit when he wants, but there is the compensations.

Go one on net and try to find something about this FIFA talk and you'll find nothing.

This is the main news in Sky Sports: http://www.skysports...6968496,00.html

Nothing about FIFA, so that was a bullshit, probably from one random twit, so the claims that a person from Turkish Federation said in Sky Sports about this FIFA thing is a lie.

It was on TV , in an interview you heard the Turkish guy say it

Pepe is way better than Villas Boas.

If Villas has potential to be the better coach one day, I don't know, but compare a manager who won two UCL, 3 back to back La Ligas and who created a superb team with a manager who won Portuguese Leage and Europe League is stupid.

Just listened to 5live, they are still not sure if Guus will take manager or DoF, but they think he is more likely to take DoF, which will include some work with the academy in place of Arnesen. They also said Roman has to go to Russia soon on business, so Guus will be ideal man to keep ship steady while Roman is away. Also his wife has told him she doesnt want him doing the day to day involvement.

Avram Grant could win La Liga with that Barca side.

That Barca side created unprecedented works of art. Avram Grant created an ugly mess at West Ham. It's like saying any 18-month old with his light up keyboard could reproduce the works of Liszt.

Ah so if Pep came to Chelsea without his golden boys of Villa, Messi, Pedro, Iniesta and Xavi, you honestly think he'd repeat his Barca success? Not a chance

Of course quality of players matter. But so does the coach! The coach has to get tactics right and formations and line ups and man management ect.

Pep made this squad a team. Instead of individuals. Avram can't do that, just ask Scotty Parker.

I said it here once and I'll say it again - managing the most talented football side in history is not as easy as it sounds. Player A may be basking in the spotlight while Player B is angry with the manager because he isn't getting more playing time. Player C wants a raise because he thinks he is the reason the side is so great, but Player D got the money instead and is now going through the motions because he thinks he is the reason the side is so great. Player E is a role guy, but he is on a side treated like rock stars, so he parties late into the night and even before matches. See what can happen?

The manager himself has to be careful too. His own ego might become overbearing. It's a very careful balancing act punctuated by the fact that a neutron microscope is placed on everything the side does.

Exactly.

The role of the manager in top clubs, with big stars is so important. And so Grant can't walk into Barcelona and replicate Pep's success

Villas Boaz may have "only won" the portuguese league and the Europa league but his achievements go much deeper than that.

Lets start with his job at Academia, he left his comfort zone under Mourinho, he had a safe and easy job following Mourinho around everywhere and he took a team on that, when he took over in October 2009, they were bottom of the league and without a win, they looked like Portugal's very own Derby County until AVB took them to 11th place safety. outstanding.

This year at Porto he has not only won the League and Europa he has broke numerous record in the process

n his first season as coach, Villas-Boas set the following records:

  • By winning the UEFA Europa League on 18 May 2011, he is the youngest manager ever to win a European competition, at 33 years and 213 days of age.[10]
  • The club record for the most matches across all competitions unbeaten (36). This record was previously held by José Mourinho at 33 matches.[11] Part of this streak was completed by the previous coach of FC Porto, Jesualdo Ferreira.
  • The most wins in Europe in one season by a Portuguese club (14)[12]
  • The most points in a 30-game Portuguese league season (84)
  • The highest number of consecutive wins in the Portuguese league (16)
  • The biggest margin over the second placed team in the league (21)[13]
  • The only team to go unbeaten through a Portuguese league season aside from Benfica in 1972/73[14] and 1977/78[15]
  • On 3 April 2011, Villas-Boas won his first Primeira Liga, five rounds before the end, by defeating second-place Benfica 2–1 away at theEstádio da Luz in Lisbon,[16] becoming the third youngest coach to win it, only behind Mihály Sistka (1938–39) and Juca (1961–62). It is the second time that Porto won the Portuguese league by beating its rival at its home soil, the first time being 71 years ago, in the 1939–40 season when Porto clinched the title by defeating Benfica at the Estádio das Amoreiras.
  • On 22 May 2011, Villas-Boas won the Treble by winning the Portuguese Cup, equalizing Tomislav Ivić (when he won 4 titles for Porto in 1987/88), and making Porto the first (and only) European team to win a treble twice (Portuguese League, Portuguese Cup and UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League).

Outstading and remember 12 months previously, Porto dropped out of the CL places and looked in terminal decline, the year before AVB took over they were so far behind Benfica it was embarrassing. If AVB follows this season up with a strong run in the CL and another league title the whole of europe will start taking notice properly. Mark my words he will be the greatest manager ever.

As for Pep fair play to him for gelling the Barca team together into what they are today but any-one who saw them knew they had what they achieved in them, prior to Pep making them noticed Iniesta and Xavi were the most under-rated players in the world, Messi although raved about alot of people thought Ronaldo and Kaka were better prior to 2008, i know its a clichie but any-one who saw Barca and especially Spain in Euro 2008 knew the Barca players had it in them to reach these heights and fair play to pep for making that work but if he comes here he will need to use the market and his transfer record leaves a lot to be desired .Remeber Rjkard? he won back to back titles and in English rules it would have been 3 (like Pep) but things went stale for him there and since then has got found out, we dont know if the same will happen with Pep.

Moving on to Hiddink we will certainly stand a better chance in Europe with Guus around, he could probably out tactic any one in the game (Jose included) but Hiddink's big test will be when we hit a brick wall in the league, will he turn it around before it gets terminal or will he be thinking shit whats going on how do i sort this out?
