Ryan Fong 2,776
1995, Mark Hughes? Oh right! Silly me, still, long long time ago. As much as I love to see Rooney joins us I just don't think United would sell. Shame really, because imo out of all rumored forwards, Rooney suits us the best. Pizy 18,944
Anyone still hoping we move for Rooney?I'd rather buy Rooney who's proven for years that he can get it done in the premier league than spend double on Cavani. Just think a rejuvenated and hungry Rooney is a safer bet than splunking a massive fee on another gamble. Hope he's our priority.
robsblubot 3,595
I thought the whole point of signing expensive players was to have better options than our opponents...For me if Rooney isn't good enough to start for United because frankly, RVP is just a lot better than him, then he isn't good enough for Chelsea. He proved that the season before. If Rooney spearheaded an attack with Mata and Hazard behind him I'd bet a substantial amount of money that he'd be amongst the top scorers in the league. And unlike some of the huge money strikers we've been after, Rooney will also provide double digit assists and can play multiple positions. And he certainly wasn't and isn't worth 50M.

The only place to be 11,313
Cavani > Rooney. Everyone can see that. It's best not to present subjective opinions as facts, especially when you're comparing footballers. Right now Cavani is probably the form player, but Rooney has spent 9 seasons as one of the most important players at one of the biggest clubs in world football. Whilst Cavani was helping Palermo reach 5th place in Serie A, Rooney was the best player in English football.Form is temporary, class is permanent as they say. The only place to be 11,313
I'm sure Torres agrees Torres lost his most dangerous weapon - his pace. Rooney never really had it. He is one of the most instinctive players this country has developed in the last 20 years and is simply lacking motivation in my opinion.I'd rather go for him at £30 million than Cavani at roughly twice the price. He'd even sell more t-shirts in all likelihood.
