wj818 25
Out of all the midfielders that have played this pre season, only him seems to dictate the tempo comfortably. Mou should give him a start in the next game, just to see what he does.

So Mou definitely won't be giving Josh a chance next match.

herpthederp 122
Josh isn't going to make it at Chelsea. I think we just need to accept that. I watched him today and he was too lethargic off the ball and too sloppy on it. He may be able to cut the mistakes out of his game with time, but time isn't something that Chelsea are going to give him. Peace.

kellzfresh 7,229
I wish he was more hardworking off the ball, he seems so lethargic and casual off the ball which will make me too scared to place him in my pivot. He can only play in a role where he is protected by other DM's like pirlo in juventus. He has massive talent and vision, but he has terrible work rate. If he plays as the attacking midfielder, his vision for passes from deep will be wasted. But if he plays deep, offers no defensive cover..... its confusing. He needs to buff up and develop his defensive side to finally step up into the team.
5354 204
Hopefully Jose can tell him on where he needs to work on and he really goes ahead to work on it. or simply he can just go on loan get a good manager who can guide him.

Slam Dunk 1,442
Interesting. Nowhere near enough young english (or even full professionals) play abroad.
Jype 6,398
Spanish media reporting that Real Sociedad are in for McEachran.A loan deal? I've always thought the La Liga would be the best fit for McEachran because there he could focus on improving his playmaking abilities instead of having to worry about the physical side of his game too much as that can be done later when he's more ready in other aspects. Real Sociedad have just lost their key midfielder Asier Illarramendi to Real Madrid and there could be an opening in the starting lineup but I'm not going to pretend I'm an expert on their team because I really haven't watched them that much and I don't know for sure how good their other midfielders and and what kind of football their new manager prefers. No point sending Josh on another Swansea-like loan where he's stuck on the bench but if they promised him regular first team football it could be a perfect opportunity for him to take the next step in his career because they really are a quality team and there is even the possibility of playing in the Champions League too if they can get through the qualifiers. yuvala

The Skipper 20,609
Sociedad would be very good for Josh if he does get playing time.
Reddish-Blue 2,505
Direct replacement for Asier Illarramendi probably. It would be a step down from Illarramendi for Sociedad..if they did bring in McEachran.

Reddish-Blue 2,505
Yes but they'd have a player with similar qualities, both players have good long and short passing. You make a good point about their qualities.Hopefully McEachran gets the chance to play in La Liga, it can only benefit his development...cause at this stage, not many PL clubs seem interested in giving him a starting role. The other question is...if Barcelona loan out Jonathan Dos Santos to Sociedad who plays the CM/DM position...will they need McEachran? herpthederp 122
The speculation is that McEachran would be an alternative to Dos Santos, as that deal seems to have stalled.
Jype 6,398
The other question is...if Barcelona loan out Jonathan Dos Santos to Sociedad who plays the CM/DM position...will they need McEachran?A loan deal for Jonathan dos Santos was on the cards when Tito Vilanova was still at Barcelona but now their new manager Gerardo Martino has said he wants to keep him and Real Sociedad have supposedly then turned to McEachran as the alternative. The Chelsea board need to wait and see whether Martino really wants to keep JdS or just see the player train under him before making the decision because Real Sociedad could still get him in the transfer window if Barcelona decided to loan him out after all and it could potentially be Swansea all over again if they got both him and Josh and one of them were to sit on the bench most of the time. Fernando 6,585
Interesting. I say go for it. It might be good for him for play in the Spaniard league. It will fit him well me thinks. And we already have a couple of player in La Liga as loan. So keep it up till something horrible goes wrong.
