Australia was almost colonised by the French. About a week (or so) before Captain Cook arrived to set scout things out and set up camp at Botany Bay, the French were snooping about in a less nice place of NSW, they decided it wasn't worth it and left. But 200 years before the Dutch were scouting out Western Australia, which is dominated by large cliffs and deserts. They decided it wasn't worth it and left.

Can you imagine our accent in French? That would be funny as all hell.
