Maybe...Does anyone have experience in the world of architecture?

My real Elder brother is an Architect. Been working for 6 years now and he is quite happy that he became an architect. Although he is working in an office right now and handling some big clients, he wants to start his own work now. The only thing i can say about Architecture from his experience is, it takes time to settle down in it like a lawyer but once you make a name for yourself, you can be living a pretty good life! He still hasn't bagged any "personal project" and hence is working in an office but he says that while working within the office he has now established contacts with big builders and he could be starting his own work in about 2-3 years time! Some travelling involved as well, within the country as well as abroad! All in all, a good profession if you are patient and can wait for the right moment!!

@spike have you or can you do an internship or co-op? Doing a work experience would truly tell you if you like it or not.

It is worth looking into even if you could do a part-time job at a local firm.

It's all about how you see yourself as an Architect. He knew nobody when he graduated, he went to New Delhi, got a job in a good office and worked his ass off for the first couple of years. "Knowing someone" isn't part of your job, it's what you do for yourself and for your future. You know, like build a good relations with the concerned authorities! Lots of people tend to take Architecture lightly, but it's not! And like in any office, if you want to make progress, you have to stand out from the rest in a good way!

Studying civil engineering at the moment. Granted it's not exactly what you were asking but we've had some courses which have definitely got more to do with architecture than engineering and so far that's probably been the most interesting part of my studies. For a while I even thought about applying to another university to study actual architecture but then I got lazy and didn't want to go through all the hassle and as I'm doing quite well at CivEng I thought it's not really worth it to start over.

If you stumble upon the right tumblr blog, you can be flicking through it for hours. Tumblr >>>> Flickr, as all the best stuff from Flickr ends up on Tumblr anyway.

You rarely come across such great pics, though. Most of the time, about 95% of all Tumblr blogs I visit, it's pics of some wannabes and hipster jerks.
