Ramires

My opinion is not just based on the match, but his whole season.

until december, he was one of our most consistent players. still remember the meltdown we had before the pool game as rambo was suspended for 5 yellows. his performance against city at bridge when he owned toure all through the match.

but no doubt that he has been poor (i wont even say average), he has been downright poor since the start of this year. can be cos of his new role in the team with matic coming in. he definitely does not have the skill set for a no.8 player.

but to say this about his performance last night "What the fuck was he playing at when he was put in last night? His first touch was that of a school boy on the playground and there isn't anything you can say good about the ball he played." is a joke.

No, no it isn't. That was a basic pass and managed to completely fuck it up. The bloke is struggling to pass and do the most basic things asked of him. His only asset is pace and that's that. He's been a complete passenger for 90% of the season and why he is constantly selected for well under par performances is beyond...He's awful.

Has the first touch of a rapist and messed up a few potentially deadly counter-attacks yesterday. Still a good performance IMO because he did pretty much what the manager wanted him to do.

dude. he looked up. but torres was nowhere. torres was way behind him and the defender who was running into the box. the ball would 100% have been intercepted. he could have held onto the ball and hoped for a miracle to happen. but just on that one occasion you simply can not condemn him last night. look at the defensive job he did on luis. as soon as schurrle came on the wing, and rambo went central, luis played around azpi and almost got a shot from inside the box. and that is why he was selected last night. he will be selected for the next match cos we dont have any options.

mikel and lamps are suspended. matic is cup tied. so it leaves him and ONLY him as our true midfielder.

we have a lack of options and have to make up for it. rambo has been in a poor form plus his various suspensions in CL and PL would not have helped his confidence.

and please dont make stuff up like been a passenger for 90% of season. he was our ENGINE until the start of the year.

That bolded bit has nothing to do with his first touch at all. You are simply making excuses for him and how bad his touch is without actually looking at it properly.

You are making things up to suit your argument here about suspensions making him have lack of of confidence. The long and short of it is, Ramires is a poor reader of the game and plays in such a position that means that is not possible. He's clumsy and that is why he has found himself booked/suspended more frequent because his reading and judgement is not what it should be.

making excuses??? u r slagging off rambo for having ONE poor touch in all of the game and accusing me of being selective. how many times did willian lose the ball. how many times did torres try and dribble instead of passing to willian/rambo. lamps could have been sent off. cole slid in for the last corner and could have ended up costing the match on the counter. azpi let garcia run behind him a couple of times. DL's freekicks were a joke which was our ONLY real way of scoring a goal. which player dint make ONE mistake. slag all of them... rambo's primary job last night was his defensive work in which he was brilliant. he totally shut down luis.

yes he is clumsy. and a little "dirty". but he generally makes up for it with his fight. and u need such players in the team. that's the difference between us and the likes of arsenal/spurs.

We should probably aim a little higher than Arsenal and Spurs. We also have Matic who provides that steel in midfield, so what we need alongside him is someone who can kick the ball better to put it in mightily simple turns.

Ramires is great without the ball. Unfortunately someone in his position tends to get about 50 touches a game.

he was our ENGINE until the start of the year.

So until we signed Matic then?

Let me drive this home to you. I have been having a go at Ramires for the most of the season because his performances have been well below par, everyone can see that. You, are making excuses for his first touch last night by blaming Torres for being behind him for crying out loud. His first touch had nothing to do with Torres, had his first touch not been like a school boy he probably would of got to the box and then allowed Torres to actually get into a position to deliver, but no, this is Ramires we are talking about and the thing that has been so poor all season from him again rears it's ugly head.......So yeah let's blame Torres.

The team last night as a whole and as a collective group was good, what wasn't good was our decision making and the fact when we got the ball our touch or choice was fucking bordering on pathetic. Our chances to get out and retain the ball last night were limited, when we did we panicked and our touch and distribution was so poor. I class the final result as really good, but when you talk about individuals who struggle to do the basics right and correct then there was some culprits who stood out and who have been doing it the majority of the season.

If you actually go through the couple more posts of discussions between me and specialjuan, then you ll know that I have said the exact same things. Rambo's role changing in the team with matic coming in, rambo playing solely cos we don't have a option etc etc. Nothing here that I disagree with

Stopped reading after the first line. Anyone who thinks that rambo until december was "below par" simply is prejudiced. The rambo that owned toure, the rambo against arsenal, the rambo without whom we simply could not imagine our pivot.

I am not giving an excuse for his touch. I said it was a poor touch. Read my last post again. But what is baffling me his slagging him off for that one instinct. Except for that one mistake, he had a good game. He did his job. He did all that was asked of him.

In other words ... he's a footballer who's better when he doesn't have a ball at his feet.

If you asked Ramires to run five lengths of the field he would and quick. If you give him a ball he would be like a Kangaroo on fucking speed.

He worked his bollocks off last night he had an outstanding game. He was sprinting everywhere and done exactly what was asked of him.

come on man he did well but calling that performance outstanding is silly i would call cahill, mikel, or terry (before inj) outstandings as not only they defended well & had so many clearance they wer composed with the ball also..

He was sprinting from one length of the pitch to the other to win the ball back. I agree with most points about him going forward, but I think defensively he's very astute and showed that last night.

Last night wasn't about attacking.
